Chapter 28: Galactic Map + Instant Transmission
"Nail, my second wish is to obtain the star charts of this universe and its neighboring universes," Krillin said calmly, though he felt a twinge of uncertainty. He wasn't sure if Porunga could retrieve star maps from adjacent universes.
"Other universes?" Nail asked, slightly puzzled, but he still conveyed Krillin's wish to the dragon.
"I'm sorry, but I can only provide the star charts for the Sixth and Seventh Universes, as they are paired and mirror each other," Porunga's ancient voice replied.
Nail glanced at Krillin, awaiting his instructions.
Porunga's limitations didn't surprise Krillin, as his primary goal was to get the Seventh Universe's map. The inclusion of the Sixth Universe was an unexpected bonus. Internally, Krillin felt a rush of excitement. "I've hit the jackpot!"
"Porunga, please grant me the star charts for the Sixth and Seventh Universes!" Krillin exclaimed eagerly.
Nail turned to Porunga and repeated the request in Namekian: "&*******!"
"That is a simple wish," Porunga replied. His eyes glowed red, and a moment later, Krillin's mind was flooded with vivid images.
The star charts unfolded in his mind, depicting the galaxies of the universe. Countless stars shimmered, each dot representing a celestial body. The galaxies flowed like rivers, forming the vast and intricate web of the universe.
Krillin's gaze in his mind's eye settled on the faint glow of Earth, a tiny, insignificant speck in the Northern Galaxy. "It really is just a low-value planet. But who would guess that the Seventh Universe's strongest warrior would one day be trained there?"
He zoomed out, as if wielding a magnifying glass over the cosmos, until his focus landed on an unusually bright, purple-hued star. "Is this the Destroyer's Realm?" Krillin wondered, feeling a cold, destructive aura emanating from it.
"Hmm? Someone seems to be spying on the Destroyer's Realm?" Whis murmured, his eyes narrowing as he savored his food.
Moments later, the feeling vanished. "Oh well, probably nothing," Whis said, dismissing it with a shrug. He took another bite and glanced toward Beerus, who was still fast asleep.
Krillin smiled to himself. "This sensation is incredible—like standing atop the world's highest peak with a magnifying glass, surveying everything."
"Now, state your third and final wish," Porunga's ancient voice boomed again.
"For my last wish, I want to acquire Instant Transmission and be able to teleport to any location within the star charts," Krillin declared confidently.
Nail once again repeated the request: "&*!"
"This wish involves the manipulation of spatial energy," Porunga explained. "I cannot grant it directly. However, I can embed spatial energy within you. Its effectiveness will depend on your own strength. The greater your power, the farther you can teleport. Conversely, with low power, you'll only be able to move within a single planet."
Porunga's eyes glowed red one final time. "Your wish has been granted. Farewell!" With that, the dragon dissolved into the Dragon Balls, which scattered across Namek, their energy spent. They would recover their power in 130 Namekian days.
Krillin closed his eyes, feeling the spatial energy left behind by Porunga. He realized he could instantly reach any location on Namek.
"Let's go, Nail!" Krillin said, grabbing Nail by the arm. In a flash, they disappeared.
Back at the Great Elder's residence, the gathered Namekian elders and the Guardian were deep in conversation. Suddenly, Krillin and Nail appeared, startling everyone.
The Great Elder smiled knowingly as he sensed the spatial energy radiating from Krillin.
Nail, however, was shocked. "Just now… were we thousands of miles away? And now we're here? Instant Transmission…" he murmured in awe.
Five days later…
The Namekian elders began their journeys back to their villages. Despite initially agreeing to a brief visit to Namek, Krillin found himself accompanying the elders to explore the various villages. Though he grumbled about the detour, he secretly enjoyed the experience. "There's not much happening on Earth these days anyway," Krillin thought. "And the Guardian's presence or absence doesn't make much difference."
While the Guardian departed with the elders, Krillin handed him the spaceship for safekeeping. Nail, meanwhile, steadfastly refused to spar again, citing his duty to protect the Great Elder.
Krillin gazed up at Namek's perpetually green skies and let out a dramatic howl: "To truly live a fulfilling life, one must have a little green above their head!" Then he added, laughing to himself, "The internet never lied!"
Nail gave Krillin a puzzled look, then glanced at his own green skin, wondering if this was some kind of new attack technique.
Krillin spent the next five days testing Instant Transmission, teleporting to various celestial bodies near Namek. The nearby moons resembled miniature versions of Namek, with small, unremarkable landscapes.
Next, Krillin aimed for the farthest planet in the star system, an ancient world called Skoraxi, located at Namek's westernmost edge. Concentrating on its image in his mind, he activated Instant Transmission and arrived moments later.
"Phew!" Krillin thought, feeling drained. The teleportation had consumed about one-tenth of his energy. "The universe is vast. Traveling it will be nearly impossible without millions in battle power."
Skoraxi was barren, lacking an atmosphere. Krillin had to surround himself with energy to survive, though he knew it wouldn't last long.
"This place is harsh," he muttered, observing the vast temperature differences caused by the lack of atmospheric protection. The sandstorms swirling across the planet reminded him of scientific theories he'd learned in his past life. "Yep, no mistake there."
The cold quickly set in, forcing Krillin to teleport back to Namek. The experience taught him that interstellar travel consumed too much energy to sustain for long. To make long journeys, he would need to find "rest stops" on habitable planets along the way.
"The road ahead is daunting," Krillin mused. "My strength just isn't enough yet."
It was finally time to leave. "The stars and galaxies await."
Krillin packed his things and headed to the Great Elder's home.
"Are you leaving, child?" the Great Elder asked, smiling kindly.
"Yes," Krillin replied with determination. "The path to strength is long and arduous."
"Go then, child. And don't forget Namek," the Great Elder said softly.
Krillin bowed deeply. "I won't," he promised.
Turning to Nail, Krillin gave him a brotherly hug. "Train hard. Next time, we'll fight again," Krillin said. Then, with a flash of energy, he disappeared.
Watching him leave, Nail couldn't help but smile, his battle spirit reigniting.
Krillin teleported toward the Galactic Core but suddenly slapped his forehead. "Darn it! I forgot to ask the Great Elder about rest stops on the way to the Galactic Core!"
