Chapter 222: Chapter 222: A-Rank Hidden Quest
"Purple Pearl Island?" Mu Chen frowned, recalling the storyline from the original plot.
In the original story, Tang San, Xiao Wu, Zhu Zhuqing, and the others had been swept onto an island by ocean waves. That island was Purple Pearl Island.
Purple Pearl Island was infamous, not because of any deities residing there, but because it was home to a notorious female pirate—Purple Pearl herself.
The island was named after her, and in the seas surrounding Sea God Island, there were no peaceful fishermen, only pirates preying on wealthy merchants and nobles. In recent years, Purple Pearl had reached the Soul Emperor level, uniting over 80% of the pirates in the area under her command.
In other words, Mu Chen, Xiao Wu, and Hu Liena were about to land in a den of thieves.
"Purple Pearl Island?"
Xiao Wu repeated softly, looking at Mu Chen and Hu Liena. "What's wrong? Is there a problem?"
"It's a pirate den," Hu Liena replied.
"A pirate den?" Xiao Wu's expression froze.
"Don't worry. Since we're here, let's go ashore and take a look," Mu Chen said with a faint smile.
In truth, even if Mu Chen didn't want to, he had no choice but to land. He had already noticed many eyes fixed on them.
"Sea Demon!"
"It's Haider's ship!"
"He's finally back after five days! Looks like he bagged some fat sheep this time!"
Rough voices echoed from nearby as pirates on the surrounding ships began commenting on the Sea Demon.
"Hmm? Who are those three unfamiliar faces?"
As the ship docked, a curious voice rang out. The owner of the voice leaped lightly onto the Sea Demon, landing in front of Mu Chen.
"Haider, come out! Where's the girl I told you to buy for me? Don't tell me you chickened out and can't face me!"
The young pirate strode into the cabin, eager to find Haider. As he searched, his voice continued, "That virgin better be untouched. I don't take sloppy seconds!"
"Brother!"
"Husband!"
Xiao Wu and Hu Liena exchanged nervous glances with Mu Chen. Once the pirates realized Haider was missing, how would they avoid a violent confrontation? A single misstep could lead to a siege by all the pirates present.
"No need to look. I killed him," Mu Chen said calmly.
"What?"
"Killed him?"
"You three tender-skinned brats?"
As Mu Chen's words fell, more pirates emerged from nearby ships, encircling the trio. Their skeptical eyes bore into Mu Chen, Xiao Wu, and Hu Liena.
They knew Haider was a Soul King with a soul power level above fifty. To them, Mu Chen and the others looked barely of age. How could they possibly have killed Haider, let alone his six or seven subordinates, all of whom were at least Soul Elders above level thirty?
"Jack, did you find Haider?"
The pirate leader fixed his gaze on the man emerging from the ship's cabin.
"No, but I found some bloodstains. Haider's probably been fed to the fish," Jack speculated.
Whoosh!
With those words, the pirates stepped forward, tightening their encirclement.
"Did you really kill Haider?"
At that moment, a magnetic voice came from outside the crowd. The gathered pirates immediately parted, making way for a woman flanked by five or six men.
The woman wore a hat, and a necklace of beast fangs hung around her neck, adding a wild touch to her appearance. Her blackened lashes hinted at Persian origins. At her slender waist was a dagger with a skull-shaped hilt.
Ding!
"A-Rank Hidden Quest triggered: Persuade Purple Pearl to reform."
"I asked you a question—did you really kill Haider?" the woman asked Mu Chen again.
"And if I don't feel like answering?" Mu Chen countered mockingly.
"Watch your mouth! This is Purple Pearl, the leader of the Purple Pearl Pirate Crew—"
Before the man could finish introducing her, Purple Pearl raised her hand, signaling him to stop.
Her sharp gaze landed on Xiao Wu and Hu Liena, and a glint of interest flashed in her eyes. "Tsk tsk, so there are women this beautiful other than me in this world. I've decided—I'm getting married."
"Married?"
"Married?"
"Married?"
The pirates around her stared in shock at Purple Pearl.
"What's so surprising? I'm the captain. Why wouldn't I have a wife? It's perfectly normal to marry, isn't it?" Purple Pearl said with a smile.
Marry?
The pirates glanced at each other knowingly, recalling Purple Pearl's preference for women.
"These two women are mine. As for that man, kill him," Purple Pearl ordered indifferently.
"Yes!"
At her command, one of her subordinates stepped forward. With a single stride, five soul rings lit up around him, revealing him to be a Soul King. He approached Mu Chen menacingly.
Xuan-Tier Low-Grade Dou Technique: Fire Blowing Palm
Boom!
Before the man could unleash his soul skill, Mu Chen raised his hand. A terrifying gust of wind erupted from his palm, sending the pirate flying backward. He landed hard on the ground, blood trickling from the corner of his mouth.
"Brother held back!"
Xiao Wu's heart clenched. These were notorious pirates, and the one who attacked Mu Chen was merely a Soul King. With Mu Chen's current strength, he could have easily killed him in one move. Yet, he hadn't.
"Could Brother be interested in her?"
Xiao Wu couldn't help but glance at Purple Pearl. Admittedly, Purple Pearl was stunning, and her charisma was undeniable. However, this was the same woman who had just declared her intent to marry Xiao Wu. That made her… well, a lesbian.
As Xiao Wu scrutinized Purple Pearl, the pirate captain was doing the same to her, even winking playfully.
Ugh!
Xiao Wu froze, shivering involuntarily as her rabbit ears stood up, her skin crawling.
"You've got some skill. How about joining my Purple Pearl Pirate Crew?" Purple Pearl offered.
"Not interested," Mu Chen replied flatly.
"Then attack again," Purple Pearl ordered.
This time, twenty pirates stepped forward, clearly emboldened by their numbers.
"Xiao Wu, Nana, cover your noses," Mu Chen instructed.
Xiao Wu and Hu Liena looked at him in confusion but obeyed without question, covering their noses as directed.
