Douluo Starting with the Chaos Divine Examination

Chapter 221: Chapter 221: Arrival at Purple Pearl Island

A ship painted in iron-gray steadily sailed across the vast ocean. The setting sun turned the sky crimson, creating a fiery sea of clouds. Several seabirds, drawn by the commotion from the ship, circled overhead, curiously watching the fierce battles on the deck below.

From above, one could spot a massive shadow moving beneath the ship.

"Master, we've arrived."

A deep, magnetic voice resounded in Mu Chen's mind as he finished his "plowing."

"Oh!" Mu Chen stood up, and with a wave of his hand, his clothes flew onto his body. Gazing at the small island ahead, he instructed, "Xiao Wu, Nana, put your clothes back on."

Xiao Wu's face turned crimson, and even Hu Liena, despite her training in charm, blushed deeply. With her head lowered, she picked up the garments scattered on the bed and began to dress.

"Should I start calling you Sister Xiao Wu now?" Hu Liena asked hesitantly.

"That won't be necessary. Just call me Xiao Wu," Xiao Wu replied with a light smile.

"Alright." Hu Liena's expression froze, unsure why Xiao Wu, who had just helped her, now seemed distant.

Mu Chen glanced at Xiao Wu.

He knew why Xiao Wu felt this way toward Hu Liena. It was because Hu Liena was the personal disciple of Bibi Dong—the very person who had killed Xiao Wu's mother.

In other words, Hu Liena was the disciple of Xiao Wu's sworn enemy.

If not for Mu Chen, Xiao Wu would never have allowed Hu Liena to stay by his side. Her decision to save Hu Liena earlier had been a reluctant one, made out of compassion rather than friendship.

Xiao Wu had repeatedly reminded herself: It was Bibi Dong who killed her mother, not Hu Liena. Hu Liena was innocent!

Initially, Xiao Wu hadn't wanted to save Hu Liena. But seeing Hu Liena's suffering and recalling her generally good nature, Xiao Wu's heart softened. She allowed Mu Chen to save Hu Liena—just this once.

"Nana, don't take it to heart. Xiao Wu acts this way because of her mother," Mu Chen explained.

"Her mother?" Hu Liena grew even more confused.

"Xiao Wu's mother was killed by your teacher, Bibi Dong," Mu Chen said bluntly.

"What?" Hu Liena's eyes widened in disbelief as she looked at Xiao Wu, then back at Mu Chen. Seeing Mu Chen nod, her expression grew conflicted.

From Hu Liena's perspective, her teacher had a blood feud with Xiao Wu. Yet Xiao Wu had still allowed Mu Chen to save her. She couldn't help but feel deeply moved.

But it was a mother's death they were talking about—an unending vendetta.

Hu Liena's brows furrowed tightly.

She felt deeply torn. If Xiao Wu and Bibi Dong were to clash to the death in the future, whose side would she choose?

If she sided with Bibi Dong, wouldn't that be an act of ingratitude toward Xiao Wu, who had saved her life and even agreed to share her husband?

But if she sided with Xiao Wu, wouldn't that betray her teacher, who had treated her like her own daughter?

Hu Liena's heart ached with the weight of the decision. Her face revealed her inner turmoil.

Suddenly, Hu Liena froze as a warm hand clasped hers.

She looked up to see Mu Chen smiling at her.

"Don't worry. I'll handle this. Leave it to me, your man," Mu Chen said calmly. "You can continue reporting my whereabouts to your teacher if you wish."

Hu Liena gazed deeply into Mu Chen's eyes. His reassurance eased her troubled heart significantly.

"Brother, is that Sea God Island up ahead?" Xiao Wu asked.

"Doesn't look like it. Legend has it that the waters surrounding Sea God Island are guarded by Demon Spirit Great White Sharks. This area is far too calm," Mu Chen analyzed.

While Mu Chen was familiar with Douluo's storylines, he didn't have a detailed understanding of its oceanic geography. Similarly, the Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon King, Yu Sinuo, had limited knowledge of the seas.

Years ago, Yu Sinuo had ventured into the ocean only to encounter the Deep Sea Demon Whale King. The resulting battle for dominance over the ocean ended with Yu Sinuo's defeat. Afterward, the dragon king retreated to the northern snowfields to recover and never returned to the sea.

This lack of familiarity had forced them to rent a ship earlier, leading to the recent encounter with pirates and the unexpected deepening of Mu Chen's relationship with both Xiao Wu and Hu Liena.

Since taking Xiao Wu and Hu Liena as his own, Mu Chen's soul power had soared to an unprecedented level, boosting his confidence for the eighth trial of his Chaos God Examination.

"My Spirit Hall once attempted to conquer Sea God Island but suffered a crushing defeat. The surrounding islands are occupied by pirates. If this isn't Sea God Island, it's likely one of the pirate-occupied islands," Hu Liena speculated.

"Pirates? Are we sailing straight into a den of thieves?" Xiao Wu exclaimed.

"In this vast ocean, having someone guide us wouldn't hurt," Mu Chen replied with a smile.

"You plan to use them as guides?" Hu Liena asked.

"Is there a problem with that?" Mu Chen retorted.

"Mu Chen…"

"From now on, call me 'husband,'" Mu Chen interrupted.

"Hus… Husband." Hu Liena's cheeks flushed as she stammered. "Back then, my Spirit Hall army failed against Sea God Island not only because of the Sea God's unparalleled Limit Douluo but also because the surrounding pirates, who worship the Sea God, united against us. Their interference caused significant trouble, and with dwindling supplies, the army was forced to retreat in defeat."

"It wasn't because of Qian Daoliu?" Mu Chen asked.

"How do you know about that?" Hu Liena stared at Mu Chen in shock.

"What is it?" Xiao Wu asked curiously.

"Qian Daoliu, the Grand Elder of the Spirit Hall and a Limit Douluo known as the Sky's Invincible, once pursued the Sea God Island's High Priest, Bo Saixi. However, she turned him down," Mu Chen explained.

"Husband, don't speak ill of the Grand Elder. The High Priest once said she would marry whoever became a god first," Hu Liena reminded.

Mu Chen chuckled but didn't argue. Having read the story, he knew Bo Saixi's challenge was simply a polite rejection of Qian Daoliu's advances.

"Pirates may pillage and plunder, but they're devout followers of the Sea God. Threatening them with their lives might not be enough to make them guide us to Sea God Island," Hu Liena said.

"We'll see when the time comes. The bridge will straighten itself out as the ship advances," Mu Chen said nonchalantly, channeling his soul power. The Sea Demon, under his control, accelerated toward the island ahead.

"This is bad!"

As the ship approached the island, Hu Liena's expression darkened. "This is Purple Pearl Island!"
