Dimensional Kaguya Ōtsutsuki

Chapter 566: The Secret of RC Cells

If a beautiful woman bashfully said she wanted to "eat" you and opened her mouth, revealing adorable little fangs, you might blush and let your imagination run wild. However, if this beautiful woman really wanted to "eat" you, it would instantly turn into a horrifying thriller.

For instance, Kaguya was feeling exactly this way now. Having a beautiful woman biting her neck was not a pleasant experience. Her small fangs were especially sharp, piercing the neck with an unexpectedly sharp pain, akin to the sensation of being sawed back and forth by a steel blade.

Yet, the beautiful woman appeared to be thoroughly enjoying herself. Her expression was one of bliss, as if savoring a piece of creamy cake. From time to time, she even licked her rosy lips.

Under normal circumstances, Kaguya would probably find this woman very adorable—particularly her charming cheeks, which carried a seemingly tipsy blush, and her dreamy eyes exuding a strawberry-scented allure.

But right now…

With a loud "smack," the beautiful woman was sent flying by a slap, hitting the ground hard and rolling like a doll knocked off a shelf.

Kaguya reached up to touch her neck, feeling a sharp, stinging pain. When she looked at her hand, it was stained crimson—her own blood.

Normally, the Truth-Seeking Balls would have shattered the offender's teeth. However, since Kaguya didn't want to reveal her current identity and was caught off guard, she didn't put up her defenses. As a result, she ended up being bitten by this person, who apparently enjoyed eating human flesh.

Indeed, one should never let their guard down, no matter the situation. Otherwise, it could lead to an unexpected defeat.

Even if it was a beautiful woman.

Rize Kamishiro staggered to her feet, her consciousness appearing somewhat unstable. Especially during her biting earlier, she resembled a ravenous beast, with nothing remotely graceful about her actions.

Kaguya frowned slightly. Could it be…

"Meat… meat, I want to eat…" Rize Kamishiro lowered her head, obscuring her face. She only kept repeating these words.

Kaguya finally understood. The woman wasn't asking her for that; she just wanted to eat meat.

This realization left Kaguya slightly disappointed.

Of course, how could a stranger casually ask for that unless it was part of some premeditated scam or, well, the work of a certain type of streetwalker?

"So delicious… it's so delicious," Rize Kamishiro suddenly lifted her head. Her once beautiful eyes had turned blood-red, and drool trickled from the corners of her mouth. She exclaimed with excitement, "I want more… I want more!" As soon as she finished speaking, four crimson kagune tails suddenly extended from her back. With a single leap, she charged toward Kaguya like a lightning bolt.

"I really appreciate your compliment," Kaguya said, shrugging her shoulders, "but I'm sorry to inform you, I have no intention of letting anyone eat me. If it's the other kind of 'eating,' though, I might find that more acceptable."

But Rize Kamishiro seemed completely oblivious. In her irrational state, Kaguya's words didn't register at all. To her, Kaguya was nothing more than a delicious meal.

In the blink of an eye, Rize had closed the distance to Kaguya. Extending her arm, her hand transformed into a claw and reached for Kaguya's neck. Her pretty face was filled with excitement.

"So delicious… I want to eat!"

"Eat my ass!"

Before Rize Kamishiro's hand could reach her, Kaguya had already grabbed her wrist and yanked hard. Rize's airborne body instantly lost balance and crashed headfirst into Kaguya's arms. Her hands were immediately twisted behind her back by Kaguya.

Seeing her open her mouth, seemingly intending to bite again, Kaguya delivered a sharp chop to the back of her neck. Rize Kamishiro instantly quieted down, her soft body slumping against Kaguya's chest.

"Looks like she's fainted from hunger. What a headache," Kaguya said, scratching her head as she looked at the unconscious Rize Kamishiro in her arms. She sighed with some frustration, "I guess I'll have to let her eat some human flesh. But eating human flesh… that's definitely a bit too much for me."

Kaguya had never been particularly judgmental of ghouls. She generally considered their dietary habits a product of their biology rather than something to be criticized. However, after witnessing it firsthand, she realized she still couldn't accept it.

To her, it was simply too revolting—especially when the ghouls ate these strange, deformed humans. If someone were to eat, it should at least be the blood of youthful, beautiful virgins, as depicted in vampire movies.

But movies were artistic, and reality was harsh. Blood alone wasn't enough to sustain a ghoul's survival.

Still, if it were her blood…

Kaguya crossed her arms, her delicate fingers tapping her chin as she recalled the earlier scene.

After drinking her blood, Rize Kamishiro's strength seemed to have increased exponentially. Although it was still insignificant to Kaguya, for Rize herself, the boost was dramatic. Her speed and power had improved substantially. To use an analogy, it was like a wood-burning stove suddenly doused with a bucket of gasoline, releasing an incredible heat.

Thinking about it, Kaguya found it puzzling. Could her blood contain something special?

In the original series, RC cells were never explained in detail. It was only mentioned that RC cells were the root cause of ghoul characteristics, and that ghouls had ten times more RC cells than normal humans. The kagune were a direct product of these RC cells.

It was somewhat similar to chakra, which was also extracted from cells, though without such grotesque effects or changes to one's appearance.

RC cells seemed to be ordinary cells infused with the energy necessary to form kagune, evolving from normal cells into RC cells. Or perhaps, due to some form of energy, normal cells transformed into RC cells, leading to the development of kagune.

Regardless of the specifics, the commonality was clear: ghouls had an unparalleled regenerative ability and exceptional physical strength, likely tied to the unique properties of RC cells.

As for the mutation into a ghoul and the grotesque changes to their appearance, those were likely side effects of excessive RC cells.

Why, then, did Rize Kamishiro become so much stronger after drinking Kaguya's blood? It was probably because Kaguya's cells contained powerful energy. After Rize absorbed it, it was converted into her own strength.

It was akin to humans eating food to absorb nutrients—the more nutrient-dense the food, the more nourishment it provided to the body.

If that were the case, perhaps giving this woman a bit of her blood might restore her sanity.

As Kaguya gazed at her pale arm, debating whether to let the unconscious beauty in her arms take a bite, a familiar voice suddenly rang out.

"Is that you?"

"Akira Mado," Kaguya turned her head, slightly surprised. "Didn't I tell you not to come? Do you want to turn into a ghoul?"

Standing at a distance was the blonde, delicate young woman Kaguya had encountered earlier: Akira Mado.

"I'm not injured to that extent," Akira Mado said as she walked over. Her clothing was even dirtier and more disheveled than before. Observant as ever, Kaguya noticed several new wounds on her body, suggesting she had been through a battle before arriving here.

"That's only because you haven't encountered anyone strong yet," Kaguya said, her eyelids twitching.

"If I run into someone strong, I'll naturally avoid them," Akira Mado replied calmly. Her eyes narrowed slightly as they landed on Matasaka Kamishiro lying on the ground and Rize Kamishiro in Kaguya's arms. "Weren't they imprisoned in the special ghoul detention center? How are they here?"

"It's nothing," Kaguya replied, holding Rize Kamishiro closer as she walked toward Akira Mado. "I ran into them by chance, and honestly, you couldn't have shown up at a better time."

"Better time?" Akira Mado looked startled, a bit confused. "What do you mean, better time?"

"I was originally planning to go inside, but I ended up running into these two," Kaguya said, spreading her hands with a helpless expression. "It took a lot of effort to subdue them. It really wasn't easy." She pointed to her neck. "See? I even got injured."

Of course, Kaguya wasn't going to tell her that the injury was from being bitten by Rize Kamishiro.

Akira Mado's pupils constricted as she hurriedly asked, "Are you saying you defeated both of them?"

"What's the matter?" Kaguya asked, puzzled. "Is there a problem?"

That's the biggest problem!

Looking at Kaguya's nonchalant expression, Akira Mado was at a loss for words.

The two individuals before her were anything but ordinary. Upon entering the CCG, she had read their classified files, documents so secretive that only senior investigators had clearance to access them. Both of these ghouls were identified as SS-rated threats, with combat power so devastating that even Arata armor had trouble containing them. They were notorious for their lethality, each capable of taking down numerous investigators.

Yet here stood this black-haired girl, casually claiming she had defeated both of them.

Before meeting Kaguya, Akira Mado would have assumed she was lying. But having witnessed Kaguya's battle with Yamori (Jason), she couldn't help but believe her—though it was still hard to process.

"Oh, right," Kaguya said, walking up to Akira Mado with a light smile. "Could you do me a favor?"

"A favor?" Akira Mado snapped out of her thoughts and asked quickly.

"These two aren't dead yet—they're just unconscious. They're priority targets for containment by the CCG," Kaguya said with a smile. "Could you help me look after them for a while?"

"What?!"

Akira Mado was startled by Kaguya's request. Look after two SS-rated ghouls?

Do you want me to die?

Perhaps sensing Akira Mado's apprehension, Kaguya quickly added, "Don't worry, these two are in a deep coma and seriously injured. They won't be waking up anytime soon."

"R-Really?" Akira Mado swallowed nervously and forced a smile.

"Thanks a lot," Kaguya said, handing Rize Kamishiro over to Akira Mado. "Next time, I'll treat you to a meal."

Akira Mado hastily took Rize Kamishiro, feeling like she was holding a hot potato. After all, this was an SS-rated ghoul, a monster infamous for her brutality. Just thinking about it sent shivers down her spine.

"Well then, it's settled. Bye-bye," Kaguya waved at her with a bright smile before turning around and leaving.

"Wait, wait!" Akira Mado called out, wanting to stop her, but Kaguya's figure flickered a few times before disappearing into the continuous autumn rain, leaving no trace.

"Damn that girl," Akira Mado muttered bitterly. Looking at the beautiful girl in her arms and the muscular, bearded man lying on the ground, she couldn't help but sigh.

Was today truly her unlucky day?

Having handed over those two to the authorities, Kaguya now felt completely free. Initially prepared to deal with the burden of dragging the pair along, she was overjoyed to find someone willing to take over the responsibility.

Of course, Kaguya had placed both Rize Kamishiro and Matasaka Kamishiro under a genjutsu. They wouldn't wake up anytime soon—unless the genjutsu's timer expired or Kaguya personally lifted it. Even if someone tried to kill them, they wouldn't regain consciousness.

Besides, Akira Mado was a good girl. Letting her die like this would be such a waste.

Suddenly, Kaguya halted and turned her head to look into the distance, her delicate brows furrowing slightly.

Just moments ago, she'd felt as if someone had been watching her from afar. It was as though someone was secretly spying on her. But now that she had stopped, the sensation had vanished.

Had they run away to avoid being discovered?

Given the intense battle between Aogiri Tree and the CCG, it was unlikely for a spy to loiter here without engaging in the fight. This suggested that the observer wasn't from Aogiri Tree or the CCG, but rather another faction altogether. But who?

This wasn't the time to dwell on it. Kaguya had more pressing matters to attend to. She didn't linger further, taking a step and transforming into a shadowy blur as she dashed toward the interior of the CCG base.

After Kaguya departed, a figure emerged from behind a towering ancient tree in the distance. The person curved their lips into an amused smile and murmured, "Her senses are sharper than I expected. I originally came here just for fun, but I stumbled upon something this intriguing. How delightful. Just don't disappoint me."

With that, the figure turned and left, their silhouette gradually fading into the forest.

When Kaguya arrived within the CCG base again, she was surprised to see Kishou Arima in an intense battle with the One-Eyed Owl. The clash between the two was fierce and brutal, with neither side seeming to gain a decisive advantage. From an outsider's perspective, it appeared evenly matched.

However, upon closer observation, Kaguya noticed that while the battle seemed balanced, Kishou Arima was subtly on the defensive. As a human, he lacked the regenerative and enduring capabilities of a ghoul. Though he could hold his own for now, it was clear that time wasn't on his side.

On the other hand, the One-Eyed Owl and Arima both seemed to be holding back. The ghoul didn't use her full strength, as if testing Arima. Perhaps she wasn't here to kill him but to probe his abilities.

Kaguya's eyes, clear and serene like autumn waters, narrowed slightly, and a faint smile curved her lips, as though she had uncovered something intriguing.
