Chapter 24: Chapter 24: Another Large Account
"V, you should not be injured," Peter said, walking over to V's side with concern in his voice.
Though V had just installed Tier 3 subcutaneous armor from Victor's side, it didn't mean Peter was comfortable seeing V get hurt.
"I'm not hurt. Lucy hacked into the Maelstrom Gang's system and broke through all their traps," V replied, shaking his head to indicate he was fine.
"But they probably have other valuable items stashed in Curry," V added.
Peter nodded, and together they entered the Maelstrom Gang's warehouse. After scanning the area, V only found a box containing prosthetic plug-ins. Since Peter didn't need prosthetics, these were just scrap metal to him.
He could only give V, Lucy, and Jack their preferred plug-ins and sell the rest for a good amount of money.
After collecting the prosthetics, Peter walked out of the warehouse and found Lucy and Jack waiting for them, having already packed the weapons and detachable prosthetic bodies.
"So, what's the deal? Has the exoskeleton armor been sold yet?" Peter asked.
"I've contacted them. They're from the Sixth Street Gang. They're on their way, and we've already agreed on the price for the exoskeleton armor and weapons," Jack replied.
Peter nodded, impressed with Jack's efficiency, then placed the box of prosthetic plug-ins on the table.
"Here are the prosthetic body plug-ins. Lucy, Jack, you two can pick whatever you can use."
Lucy and Jack approached the box and took a look inside.
"Damn, we can make a lot of money from this," Jack said as he picked out a few plug-ins, including one with metal plating, another for knuckle physical damage, and a third that provided fighting rage with three blue shells.
"I'll take these," Jack said, grinning.
Lucy, on the other hand, didn't find anything useful for her hacking activities.
"There's nothing here that fits me," Lucy said. "Out of a hundred Maelstrom Gang members, there's usually only one hacker. The rest are combat-focused, so the prosthetic body plug-ins are mainly for combat purposes."
About an hour later, a man wearing a cowboy hat and looking like a cowboy entered the Whole Foods factory. When he saw the Maelstrom gang members lying on the ground, and Bu Laike lifeless in the exoskeleton armor, he couldn't help but swallow.
"You're from the Sixth Street Gang, Steven, right? Here's the exoskeleton armor you wanted, along with the weapons. Let someone come in and take them," Jack said, bringing Steven back to reality.
Steven walked over to the exoskeleton armor and examined it. There was nothing wrong with it except for a few extra bullet holes. As for the rifles, he only needed to scan them with his prosthetic eye to determine their quality.
"Alright, I've checked everything. The exoskeleton armor is priced at 40,000 Euros, and I'll give you 5,000 Euros for these rifles," Steven said, preparing to transfer the payment to Jack.
"No, no, no, Peter is our boss. The money should be transferred to him," Jack said, pointing to Peter.
Steven frowned. Jack, with his burly frame and thick skin, seemed like the type who would handle the Maelstrom Gang. Peter, though not as intimidating in build, had a more handsome and approachable appearance, which made him appear harmless.
But Steven didn't care who the money went to. He simply transferred 45,000 Euros into Peter's account. Peter nodded in acknowledgment.
Steven then called over his men, who tossed Bu Laike's lifeless body off the exoskeleton armor and began removing the armor and weapons.
From the shocked expressions of the Sixth Street Gang members, it was clear that Peter and his team had made a name for themselves in this Maelstrom Gang battle. They would likely become a hot mercenary group after this.
Less than thirty minutes later, Peter and the others had already left the scene.
Meanwhile, a few figures parked their car outside the Whole Foods processing plant.
"Mann, are you sure those Maelstrom Gang freaks will bring that rich kid here?" Dorio asked, a bit skeptical.
"If they're not coming to their hideout, are they going to a high-end apartment?" Mann responded confidently.
"Ah, whatever. I just want to shoot something now!" Rebecca said from the back seat, running her fingers over her rifle.
"Rebecca, wait for your chance to shoot. Qiwei, let's go inside and talk to the Maelstrom Gang. You can hack their security system from the outside," Mann said, as they all prepared to enter.
Once inside, they were immediately taken aback by the carnage.
"Damn! Why are all these guys dead? And this—Bu Laike, the boss of the Maelstrom Gang—he's dead too??" Mann exclaimed.
He looked around at the dead Maelstrom Gang members and realized they were too late.
"F**k! This is a waste of time!" Mann cursed.
Meanwhile, Qiwei, who had been outside hacking the security system, reported back, "Mann, the security system of the Whole Foods factory is completely destroyed. I haven't even cracked it yet; it's already wide open."
"Everyone at Whole Foods is dead. Looks like we're too late," Mann muttered in frustration.
