Impressing Mihawk
Mihawk came to a halt in front of the deck of the Baratie. Unlike Buggy, he didn't flaunt his arrival by flaring his haki. His aura was majestic. But at the same time it was sharp. For Nami, despite his handsome face and powerful presence, Mihawk gave off a vibe of a loner introvert.
Seeing the people on the deck, Mihawk glanced at a smiling Buggy and went towards the restaurant without paying anyone any attention.
"What's up with your cold behavior…. Mihawk ? How come the boyfriend of that bastard red haired Shanks is here in the east blue ?" Buggy remarked casually.
"..." Mihawk, for some unknown reason decided to completely ignore Buggy.
But then suddenly everyone's eyes widened as the ocean around the Baratie was split in three parts. And suddenly Mihawk who was facing Baratie, was now facing Buggy with his large black blade drawn.
Even the shockwave was delayed in comparison to the human speed of Mihawk that not even Nami could follow with her eyes.
"What the hell Buggy ! The restaurant is full of civilians and cooks ! I thought you wouldn't cause any trouble for me ! And you were trying to slice the entire ship in half !" Zeff shouted at the blue haired woman.
"Chill old man ! That attack wasn't even covered with haki… It might be fast but I guess it was nothing for the greatest swordsman in the world." Buggy said casually.
Mihawk narrowed his eyes at Buggy. As the official former 'playmate' of the current emperor Red haired Shanks, Mihawk was not an ordinary person. Obviously he knew about Shanks' past as an apprentice in the ship of the former king of the pirates, as well as some of the other people related to him. He remembered Shanks mentioning about a crazy girl with blue hair and half of the screen loose in her head whom even he was unable to beat in a fight during their days of apprenticeship.
Shanks had also mentioned his name while being drunk.
So Mihawk knew very little about Buggy. But he was well aware that Buggy was not an ordinary East blue pirate.
On the other hand everyone else was surprised. Luffy and Nami's jaws have dropped on the floor of the deck while Zoro was controlling his facial features a little better than his fellow straw hats. Usopp on the other hand was lying on the floor while tightly shutting his eyes. So he hadn't seen anything.
"What do you want, Buggy ?" Mihawk's tone seemed neutral. But in reality, it was far from it.
"Nothing special. Just an offer. In the upcoming future the tide of the world is going to shift drastically. The storm that will arise will swallow up everyone. And I believe that even an introvert like you would want to choose sides for your own profit. I am not asking you to join my crew or anything. It is just an invitation for an alliance. The invitation is open infinitely." Buggy said with grandiosity. She was completely sure in herself and what she was speaking about.
Mihawk noticed the glint in her eyes.
"Well I will think about it." Mihawk said simply. But when he turned towards the restaurant again a certain green haired swordsman with three swords came in front of him.
Mihawk raised an eyebrow.
"I know that I have no chance of winning against you right now…. But still I challenge you to add duel of blades Dracule Hawkeye Mihawk !"

The moment Mihawk saw Zoro's eyes, he dismissed all of his previous thoughts regarding the swordsman. The willpower behind those eyes were very rare to find. A bit green for his test. But the resolve in the eyes of the green haired swordsman said otherwise. The man was not overconfident. In fact he was sure that he would lose. But despite that he was not backing away. It was not like he was throwing away his life. But he was fully prepared to die in this confrontation.
A smirk appeared in Mihawk's face as he realized that he might not have to go to the restaurant in order to find some quality wine in order to cure his boredom. Sengoku's task has been completed with him confirming the presence of Buggy. Not that he was going to report it. But that matter aside, Mihawk was really interested in Zoro.
"I accept your challenge." Mihawk said as he took out the small knife from his locket.
Contrary to his expectation, Zoro didn't complain. After being humbled by Buggy and seeing her attack against Mihawk and how he dealt with it, Zoro had no illusion of defeating Mihawk. That's why he focused on his own performance.
Zoro got ready with his classic 3 swords style stance.
It was the first time Mihawk had seen such a weird sword play. But seeing the resolve in the eyes of Zoro, he didn't mock him.
Zoro didn't wait for any signal and used his full speed and strength from the very beginning. In just a couple of seconds Zoro and Mihawk exchanged a dozen blows. Nami barely managed to keep an eye on their movements. The gap was just too much. And after exchanging multiple blows, Mihawk finally pierced Zoro's defense and managed to stab him in his chest.
"You could have backed away…." Mihawk asked Zoro.
"I could have… But an important part of my dream would have been crushed if I would have done that." Zoro said smiling despite his wound.
From an outsider's perspective, it might be a loss for Zoro, but in reality it was the moment when he really impressed Mihawk.
Mihawk was already very surprised to see someone in the east blue with such strength and speed which was rare even in the end of the paradise. Apart from strength and speed, Zoro was one of the best in terms of technique if Mihawk ignores the people in the New world. All he lacked was experience. And considering that he was just a green horn, Mihawk wasn't surprised about it.
But with this performance, Mihawk completely canceled his plan to kill Zoro there.

AN: There were a few things I wanted to make clear. Buggy is currently an emperor level fighter with awakened devil fruit and all.
And the second thing, the straw hats were stronger than their cannon counterparts. But that doesn't mean all of their enemies will be stronger. Some of them will be stronger while some of them will be in the same level or even weaker than the cannon.
AN: I am going to make a few changes in the future love interests so that I could arrange some special events in between the crew members.
