Alpha Damon’s Greatest Regret

Chapter 18: Chapter 18- The Saint

SIMON~

I twisted the cap of the bottle and poured myself a cold glass of scotch, I could feel Leo's eyes watching me as I took a sip.

"Say your mind, Leo," I said tired of his cold stares.

"You left them" He immediately spoke, I paused and then looked back at him but I remained silent as I took another sip of my drink before putting it down.

"What would you have had me do" I asked coldly.

"Try to bring them back, they were captured on your orders" He reminded angrily, I remained silent and then turned my eyes to him.

"What is the most important thing to me?" I asked.

"Reaching the top" He answered.

"Do you think people's capture helped my cause?"

"No"

"That's where you're wrong" I corrected and stood up from my seat "Every move I make helps my cause, more men are at the border means fewer men at places more should be."

"So you made the tunnel so they would discover it?"

"Not exactly, I made the tunnel as a point of entry into Howl Creek but in case they ever found it out I hoped they would bring at least 50 percent more men to the border but they did even better they brought 100 percent more, they exceeded my expectations which means we're a bigger threat than we thought we were. And to calm your conscience those men are safe, Damon isn't ruthless enough to kill workers." I explained as I walked to the glass wall of my office, Leo still looked bothered but I knew he understood, it had to be done. A gentle knock sounded on the door then it opened, Lucas walked inside with a smile on his wrinkled face.

"I'm guessing everything went well," He said with a cheer in his croaky voice, I looked at the man who I had named my advisor, his once brown hair was now completely white, his brown eyes had sunken in a bit and his darkened lips had the smile I had gotten so accustomed to, I was older than him but one wouldn't know thanks to the difference in our physique, unlike he who looked his age I was built like a machine, constantly in top shape, constantly at my peak.

"It did, Lucas" I confirmed as I turned back to my transparent glass and looked down at all the men walking around, he let out a wicked cackle that made me smile, he was such a predictable man, only doing things that served his interest no matter who they affected wrongly.

"Good good," he said with a shrewd smile.

"How's your daughter" I abruptly asked, straying off the topic at hand.

"Oh, I forgot about her, I guess she's alive" he answered nonchalantly, 'He's a worse man than me' I thought hearing the way he spoke of his own offspring.

"How's Howlcreek treating her" I decided to press.

"No, she's not in Howlcreek anymore, she's in the human sector with her child", my head snapped in his direction.

"Child? isn't she a little too young to be married?" I asked surprised by this new information.

"She's not, the little whore got pregnant by some wolf" he answered with a blank tone, I knew Lucas was trash but this conversation was taking him to a whole new level.

"Then why did she leave, why isn't she with him" I asked, curiosity getting the better of me.

"I don't know" he replied like my questions were annoying him "Why are you asking about her, she has no importance to you" Lucas grumbled, True, I didn't know why I was so interested.

"Ok, I'll leave it" I replied.

"So what's next" Lucas asked with a sly smile, I turned around and looked at him then I glanced at Leo.

"Nothing" Leo answered, Lucas looked confused.

"Don't be confused my friend, what's next just doesn't involve you" I assured, his face twisted before he spoke.

"You're not gonna put me on the sidelines, Not after everything I've done for this pack!" Lucas shouted angrily, he was about to stand but was pushed back to his seat by Leo who now stood behind him, he looked at Leo's strong hand that firmly held onto his shoulder and then looked back at him.

"You forget your place friend," I said as I began to slowly walk towards him, I leaned to his eye level "You're my advisor, I don't have to tell you anything," I said my tone soft and jovial but my words full of intent, I had no respect or love for him and I wanted him to know that he physically shivered and a smile curled my lips, He grunted but said nothing as Leo took his hand off his shoulder and walked back to my side.

"You can go now," I said and immediately he stood out and rushed out the door.

"Piece of shit," Leo said with disgust "How could you trust someone like him?"

"I don't, but he's good at what I need him for" I answered as I put down the cup and sank into my chair.

"He's gonna do something stupid" Leo warned.

"Oh I know exactly what he's gonna do" I replied with an eerie smile curving my lips.

"You know I don't approve" Leo quietly said.

"I know, do you know why I chose you to be my Beta" I asked.

"I don't know, no one knows why you chose a ten year old" Leo answered.

"I saw something in you, something strong, I couldn't let it go to waste and I knew a good son wouldn't ever betray his father", Leo's eyes widened with joy, I knew how much he respected me, even at times when I made decisions he didn't agree with he always stood by me, he had made it clear what I was to him and now, I had just said something he has wanted me to for so long, His eyes began to tear up and Immediately he bent a knee and bowed at my feet.

"My Alpha," he said, his voice shaky as he spoke "My life is yours" he declared, I smiled, I didn't care about honor or morals or family bonds, and for the longest time all that had mattered to me was my goal but Leo—, He was the only other thing that mattered.
