Chapter 17: Chapter 17- Reverend
DAMON~
I sat with my eyes fixed on him, registering every single movement he made, every breath he took, and the smile that curved his lips sent a sick feeling down to my stomach, I couldn't say this out loud but I knew his presence was frightening, Simon Riverend 'The Saint' they called him, nobody knew why or what was the history behind the name but every werewolf had heard of him, Killing his former alpha and taking his place he rebuilt the pack from the ground up making it one of the only packs that posed a threat to Howlcreek.
"Are we going to talk or are you going to keep staring at me" He finally said breaking the silence, his English accent thick and voice deep as he spoke.
"People from your side dig a tunnel to our side," I said cutting straight to the point, he raised a brow.
"That's a lie," He said, keeping his tone blank of any emotion.
"Really" I said with a smile, I looked at Carlos and he immediately pulled out a file and dropped it on the table, I opened it up turned it, and passed it to Simon, He still looked skeptical as he picked up the file and looked at the pictures.
"What is this?" He asked with a confused look on his face.
"Those are pictures of the tunnel that had been created, tunnels that led into our territory" I explained calmly.
"Well, I apologize for the actions of my people, some of the men in the pack want us to go to war by any means," He said his tone indicating that he meant what he said as an apology "You captured some of them right, As a way to apologize I leave their lives in your arms I have no use for warmongers in my pack," He said definitely, I saw the man that stood behind him visible flinch, obviously he didn't agree with Simons decision but nevertheless.
"Good, but I have terms," I said, originally Daniel was supposed to be the one laying down the terms but he had insisted that I do it to portray myself as not just an alpha with strength but one who possessed political intelligence.
"Anything"
"We are going to send more men to the borders to make sure nothing of this sort happens again" I explained.
"How many more?"
"Double the amount present" I answered.
"That's too much" He argued but didn't break his composure.
"No it's adequate, with the normal amount something had happened, so we increased them allowing more men to patrol and survey more ground to prevent this ever happening again," I said with confidence, Simon leaned back to think for a few seconds before he raised his head and looked back at me.
"How am I sure your men won't attack mine now that they outnumber them 2 to 1?"
"You have my word, they won't act unless I give the other or they find something they deem a threat to the pack" I assured looking straight into his eyes, our eyes remained locked for a few seconds before he finally sighed and stood up.
"Ok," Simon said reluctantly, a small smile curved the ends of my lips.
"Good" I replied as I extended my palm for a handshake and he took it, his hands were firm and powerful, 'The things these hands have done' I thought as he pulled away.
"Since that is all, I will be taking my leave now," he said, I nodded and subsequently he and his beta left the room, Now that they were gone I sank into my chair and let out an exhausted groan, throughout the meeting my head had been banging unbearable but I had been able to complete the interaction without them noticing, Daniel who was positioned in the surveillance room watching the meeting walked in.
"You did good" he praised.
"That man is a problem," Carlos said calmly.
"I could feel it, the feeling you get when the skies turn dark and it's about to rain, that's what being around him felt like," I said with my fingers massaging my forehead.
"Yeah, his words sounded honest but his reputation doesn't portray him as such, as 'ok' as he seemed with the change, he must hate it" Daniel added as he took the seat Simon had just left.
"We need to prepare for the worst," I said.
"the worst is war" Daniel replied.
"We can't have a war without the Alpha" Carlos reminded, his words causing the room to go silent.
"You need that operation."
"I know" I agreed.
"Then just take the boy" Daniel urged.
"Then what, what do you think she'd do if she found out I took her son to perform an operation that involved him getting harmed?" I asked.
"She's nothing, she doesn't matter."
"No, she is on human soil, if we take her son that means we have taken a citizen from human soil"
"We will deal with that when we get there" Daniel argued.
"We have enough problems as is, the human government has been looking for a reason to mark us a threat, we can't give them one" I explained.
"Then what!!, she's not gonna hand him to you if you ask nicely" Daniel barked, anger and frustration filling him as he spoke.
"We can't!!" I said, raising my voice and putting a definite end to the conversation.
"I agree with him Alpha" Carlos said, his voice calm and respectful "We can't lose you, we can't lose our Alpha."
"I don't intend on dying" I assured then looked at Daniel.
"I'm not gonna die" I stated like it was a fact.
"What do you think Simon is gonna do when he hears you're sick, do you think he's the kind of man to wait, do you think he got to where he is by being anything less than ruthless."
"I know," I said grimly.
"He's gonna tear us apart the second he finds out"
"I know" I repeated.
"You don't have time Damon," Daniel said calmly then turned around and walked out of the office.
"I know."
