Chapter 28: Book 1: Chapter 27: Watching A Master At Work

Purple Night watched as Sifir used different palm, fist, and elbow strikes to slay low-level ferocious beasts. After killing these low-level beasts, Sifir didn't even bother breaking down the creature for material. Only taking what was useful, and that was it, the cores. After a few moments, Sifir looked over at Death Sword putting away his Noble Death.

Lying on the ground were middle-stage Earth Realm ferocious beasts; Death Sword did the same as Sifir and only took the core as well. This was the pattern since they left Serpent Port.

These low-level and middle-stage Earth Realm creatures were young dragonlings. Which are very common in the dragon tribe territory.

Many young dragonlings roam these outer plains and could never be able to enter the inner territory or gain high status in their respectable clan. Mere fodder to stop any would-be cultivator or clan who thinks invading will be simple. Plus, young dragonlings were wild, untamed, and living off their instinct. Letting these young dragonlings fight for their own survival is one way the dragon tribes control their population.

Another reason was to find the best and brightest out of each batch of young dragonlings. For many high dragons, the slaying of young dragonlings was not their concern. However, even if other more mature dragons didn't care for young dragonlings.

They didn't want to see outsiders wearing their brethren like trophies. That's why Unit 04 didn't carry them around or use them as materials within the dragon tribe's territory. One thing about dragons is they have a keen sense of smell for their kinsmen, even when they are stored in a spatial bag, ring, or magical device.

The core of the young dragonling doesn't give off any scent. Many dragons, even from the time they break out of their shells, have their cores protected by a magical membrane. While many other ferocious beast cores give off certain scents from the residuals from being inside their body. This is one advantage that a higher tier of bloodline has over many lower-tier bloodlines and what many consider a ferocious beast.

"Fall Night!" A cold voice rang out. Purple Night looked at Sifir's attacks and had a very dissatisfied reaction.

"We will be fighting a lot during this trip to Twin Moon City. Your attacks need to be better, quicker, and have the same killing intent on every strike."

"Yes, Purple Night." You could hear the indifference in Sifir's voice as he replied to Purple Night. This was the attitude Sifir adopted when they left Serpent Port. This indifference that Sifir shows really annoys Purple Night and Jagged. Death Sword found this really amusing and would rather have Sifir be indifferent than the always scheming Purple Night or the always slick-talking Jagged.

During Unit 04 month in Thunderion, Purple Night drills Sifir every chance she can. Instead of working on his battle prowess or his cultivation levels. Sifir was forced to work on his concentration and flow of energies in his body.

Even when making food or practicing his new unranked palms or fist skills, Purple Night made him use the bare minimum of energy to perform each of the moves.

When Sifir could not do it or slip in his control of the skill being performed. Purple Night would slap a restriction talisman on Sifir's body that would forcefully restrict his movement and flow of power. Sifir had to focus on using the right amount of power to have some level of comfort.

This would be the prelude to the grueling training Sifir would endure when he returns to the Midnight and Night clan training ground. After a few more days of traveling in the Thunderion.

When they finally cross into Emberlyn, the fire dragon territory. They felt the stark difference in the environment and terrain. The ground was rough and slightly warm to the touch. What made Emberlyn special was the special fire base spirit plants, herbs, and ore that the fire dragons tribe used heavily in their cultivation.

Just like Thunderion, where there was plenty of lighting ore, spirit plants, and low-level ferocious beasts that were made of lighting or had in one way or another lighting attributes. A paradise for anyone who cultivates the elements of the law of thunder and lightning.

"Fall Night, starting today, we will begin the honing of your skills. You will watch how Death Sword gathers and releases his power during his combats with these mid-level Earth realm ferocious beasts and fire dragon younglings. Make no mistake: I, Purple Night, will drill you to exhaustion until you can efficiently control your power. Remember, don't use your clan's skills or techniques here until we reach Twin Moon City."

After Purple Night finished speaking, Unit 04 moved quickly in Emberlyn. The pure difference in the heat from when they crossed into Emberlyn up to now. They could feel the temperature slowly start to rise, and ferocious beasts were also becoming more fierce in terms of battle prowess. Unit 04 started seeing more packs of ferocious beasts working like a four-man cell team.

"Fall Night, I am going to show you this once. Watch closely how I gather and use my power to deal with these mid-level Earth realm ferocious beasts." With that said, Death Sword moved out by himself, leaving the rest of the team to watch. Jagged was eager to watch how Death Sword used Noble Death to deal with this group of beasts.

Purple Night, on the other hand, watched closely to see how Sifir would react to Death Sword's movement and his control using high-level skills.

"Fall Night, the move I am going to use is [Six Paths of Death: 1st Sword of Agony]."

As soon as Death Sword took out Noble Death from its sheath, he instantly concentrated all of his power into the sword. The sword turned into a pitch-black edge with a hint of death surrounding it. The pack of fire dragon younglings rushes toward Death Sword with reckless aggression. Only seeing Death Sword as a new food source with their limited intelligence.

Death Sword took three large steps and appeared in front of one of the fire dragon younglings with Noble Death in his hand. A flash of black blade bisected the fire dragon youngling with ease and grace. One should not mistake the smoothness of this attack for mere appearance.

Death Sword spins around, locating his next target in mere seconds, following up with a flash of his sword. Death Sword was a master at work, displaying the art of killing with no wasted motion, quick, clean, and decisive.

This was Sifir's first time studying Death Sword movement and control of his power. Unlike Sifir, who would use raw power and mere tricks to get over his opponents, Death Sword took a more simple method.

If Death Sword's power allows him to take care of the enemy instead, that is the method Death Sword would take and carry it out to the fullest. If other methods were available to Death Sword, he would consider the pros and the cons of such actions. Still, if the path before Death Sword became too burdensome, Death Sword would cut away the obstacles that stand in his way.

After Death Sword finished killing the last fire dragon youngling, Death Sword pocketed the cores from his spoils of the battle. Death Sword looks at Sifir for a minute before continuing to walk forward.

"This is the first and last demonstration I am going to give, Fall Night."

Sifir was able to witness another cultivator able to exercise precise control of his skill, the energy flow, and maintain high enough attack power. Sifir definitely learned a lot from this quick display of power.

"Don't worry, Fall Night, even if you don't get to that level of control. I will make you have high enough control it will become second nature." Purple Night eyes gleam with evil intentions.

"You and your threats." Sifir walked away from Purple Night and started his training on control. While all this was happening,

Jagged was not thrilled about Sifir being pushed to become a more efficient fighter. Jagged eyes glow murderous toward Sifir and Purple Night.

"I can't wait to taste and see what new abilities I will gain. I can eat both Purple Night and Fall Night."

Over a month has passed since Judah finally woke up from the backlash of Sol appearing more than once in several days, plus taking on the pressure from Loaded. The elders council patiently waited for news.

As soon as they hear Judah has finally woken up, the elders summon her to the grand hall. They did not want to wait any longer and already had their own plans and design for the new legions that will be constructed. Judah did answer their summons, but she took several days later to answer the summon. Since she wanted to gather some intel on what was going on while she had been unconscious.

"Well, well, the young matriarch finally decided to show herself." One elder comments as soon as Judah steps through the door to the elders council main meeting hall. Judah paid no attention to what that elder said and walked up to the highest position, and that's where the matriarch sat.

"The meeting can now begin.

"We, the elders, called this meeting to allow the young matriarch to speak and explain why she didn't consult us on forming a new legion with the Night and Midnight clans." Elder Style Wave spoke calmly.

"Since Elder Style Wave wants to know so much. I will tell you the truth. The truth is none of you have any idea what kind of trouble we are facing. Fighting over power? Laughable."

"What are you talking about, young matriarch?"

"I believe you had several meetings among yourselves and with the old matriarch Kyri. While birds fight over food like cultivators fight over resources. Have you ever thought about why those foreign powers want us to act?"

"Isn't? So we..." Judah cut off that elder immediately.

"Stop that line of thinking. We have enough power to lead or influence both the Night or Midnight clan. So why? It is simple. They are looking for something. Two of the greatest powers are constantly monitoring us. Do you think they want any of us to rise to power?"

"Little girl! What do you know about power struggles and complex political affairs?" The 5th elder rage.

"And that is why you are an old turtle with no backbone." Judah said coolly.

"However, disrespecting your matriarch can lead to death. Do you want that 5th elder?" The 5th shrank back, fearful of what this young matriarch might do to him. "Since you render great service to us, the Sunchaser, I will overlook this level of disrespect this one time. However..." With a cold flash in Judah's eyes,

"I can't say what will happen next time to you or your family."

This was a clear threat to the 5th elder and anyone who dared to disrespect the position of the matriarch. Some elders grew timid, while others had an interested glaze in their eyes. Most of the elders didn't say anything because they, too, wanted to see if this young matriarch would be smart enough to use the clan rules to bind them.

"Are we going to split the numbers among the elders to decide who will be included in this new legion?" 2nd elder question with caution.

"All the top elite that are already assigned to a team or legion will not be included. This is for second tier and below to enter. This is a chance for them to fight for opportunities. How you select them is none of my business. Let me be clear: if any of our top talents that had already been assigned are found in this legion, that elder or faction they represent will punish by clan law."

Everyone was shocked that none of their top talents in their respective faction would be allowed to enter this legion. Some elders were happy, while other elders were gloomy. After a few moments, most of them saw this chance to raise the prestige of their faction or influence.

"Since that is settled. The numbers will be the same as you agreed upon with old matriarch Kyri. I had spent enough time in this meeting for today. I need to make other preparations; this meeting is done."

Judah left immediately, not giving the elders a chance to ask more questions about the trouble that was mentioned. The efficiencies on the matter at hand were down quickly, and no breath was wasted. The elders had no idea that the reason why Judah ended the meeting so quickly was because Judah felt a sense of danger coming from an unknown place. Once leaving Elder Hall, that sense of danger went away; however, that didn't make Judah any happier.

"Those foreign powers..."
