Last Chapter: Chapter 20
I clenched my teeth, my duel disk sparking from the backlash.
I struggled to get up. My Jacket had been ripped off from the impact and a few scratches had made their home on my body.
"My, my, you still think you have any hope of winning. Very well then, I'll end my turn and let you struggle against my utopia. You better Entertain me, Boy."
I greeted my teeth as I firmed Yuma's insults, drawing my card as I stood my ground again.

I didn't give myself even a second to recover, I wasn't about to let Yuma keep the momentum he just created.
"Not bad, but you're going to need more than that to keep me down!" I shot back, slamming a card onto my duel disk. "I activate Return of the Dragon Lords! Time to rise again—Red-Eyes Black Dragon!"
Red-Eyes Black Dragon LV7 (ATK 2400/DEF 2000)
The ground trembled as a dark vortex ripped open behind me. From the swirling abyss, Red-Eyes emerged with a fierce roar, its crimson eyes blazing with renewed fury.
But I wasn't done.
"Now, I banish Red-Eyes! In exchange, I call upon a dragon whose power eclipses even the black flames of Red-Eyes!" I raised my next card high as a violent gust of wind surged through the arena, dark energy crackling around me.
"Ancient beast of destruction, unleash your boundless power and eclipse the battlefield in darkness! Appear—Red-Eyes Darkness Metal Dragon!"
Red-Eyes Darkness Metal Dragon LV10 (ATK 2800/DEF 2400)
A massive, armored dragon burst forth from the shadows, its sleek obsidian scales reflecting the neon city lights. Its piercing red eyes burned with overwhelming power as it spread its enormous wings, letting out an ear-shattering roar.
Yuma tensed. "Tch—so that's what you were planning…"
I smirked as the energy around me intensified, but I wasn't done yet. "Oh, but I am not done. Darkness Metal Dragon's ability activates! Once per turn, I can Special Summon any Dragon from my hand or graveyard!"
I grabbed my next card, feeling the sheer power radiating from it. The moment had come to summon a dragon fit for a king.
"From the ashes of battle, a ruler emerges! Bathed in divine radiance, its might eclipses all who stand before it!"
I slammed the card onto my duel disk, and a golden glow erupted across the field. The energy condensed, forming a towering silhouette within the blinding light. As the brilliance faded, an armoured dragon of regal stature stood before me—its shining, silver-white scales reflecting the neon skyline, its piercing golden eyes surveying the battlefield like a sovereign overseeing its kingdom.
"Bow before the might of Divine Dragon Lord Felgrand!"
Divine Dragon Lord Felgrand LV8 (ATK 2800/DEF 2800)
Its wings spread wide, releasing a pulse of divine energy that sent shockwaves rippling across the field. The sheer pressure of its presence distorted the air around us, forcing even Utopia to brace itself.
I grinned, feeling the energy pulse around me. "What's wrong, Yuma? You were talking pretty big a second ago. Still think I don't stand a chance?"
Yuma glared, his eyes cold and unwavering. "Try me."
"Very well! I attack with Red-Eyes Darkness Metal Dragon! Dark Nova Burst!!"
Red-Eyes Darkness Metal Dragon roared, its obsidian body surging with dark flames. The black fire expanded, engulfing its entire form before it launched forward like a bullet, streaking toward Utopia with devastating speed.
"I don't think so!" Yuma snapped. "I activate Utopia's special ability! By detaching one Overlay Unit, I can block your attack!"
As my dragon closed in, Utopia spread its massive wings and crossed its swords in front of itself, forming a radiant golden barrier. Red-Eyes Darkness Metal Dragon collided with it head-on, the impact sending powerful shockwaves rippling across the battlefield. My dragon pushed against the defense, flames roaring as it tried to force its way through—but to no avail. Utopia remained firm, forcing Red-Eyes back before swatting it away with a burst of energy.
I clicked my tongue. "Tch. Fine then—if Red-Eyes can't break through, let's see how you handle this! Divine Dragon Lord Felgrand—attack!"
Felgrand let out a mighty roar, golden light radiating from its armored form. It soared forward, mirroring Red-Eyes' assault as its body became enveloped in divine energy.
Yuma smirked. "Don't make me laugh. That attack won't touch me. I activate Utopia's effect again!"
Another Overlay Unit shattered as Utopia raised its wings once more, intercepting Felgrand's strike just as it had done with Red-Eyes. A second shockwave exploded through the arena, sending sparks flying as my dragon was repelled, crashing back toward my field.
But then—
"I now activate the Quick-Spell Rank-Up-Magic Quick Chaos!" Yuma's voice rang out, cutting through the dust and energy still lingering in the air.
My eyes widened. "Rank-Up-Magic?!" The force of the spell sent another wave of energy across the battlefield, and I shielded my face from the pressure.
Yuma pointed forward, his expression fierce. "With this, I can overlay Utopia and evolve it into a Chaos Xyz Monster one rank higher! Go—Chaos Evolution!!"
Utopia's body shone with golden energy, breaking apart into pure light before being sucked into a new, swirling overlay network. The ground trembled as an ominous new force took shape within the dark vortex.
Then, from the depths of the chaotic energy, a warrior emerged—its armor sleeker, its form radiating an overwhelming aura of power. A flowing red cape billowed behind it as it raised a jagged, enhanced blade, crackling with raw energy.
Yuma's eyes burned with determination as he made his final call.
"Arise and meet your end—Chaos Number 39: Utopia Ray Victory!"
Number C39: Utopia Ray Victory Rank 5 (ATK 2800/DEF 2500)
A blinding pulse of golden light erupted across the field as Yuma's upgraded monster took its stance. The sheer force of its arrival sent another shockwave ripping through the battlefield.
I clenched my fists, staring at the new threat before me.
Sakaki House
Yuya clenched his fists. "Man, Kai almost had him there."
"Yeah, but Yuma isn't backing down one bit. He is outplaying every move Kai makes as if he knows every move he is about to make before he does. What a pro." said Gong, admiring the powerful duellist before him. Gong had to admit, that despite all the secret training he had been doing over the past couple weeks, he was having doubts whether even he could beat the man Kai was facing.
"I wonder what a Chaos Number is?" said Yuzu, voicing her thoughts out loud. They all were thinking the same thing. One thing was for sure though, this new monster looked powerful.
Declan's Control Room
Shay clenched his fists as he turned to Declan, his expression hardened. "Tch… so Yuma's pulling out a Chaos Number," he muttered. "Figures."
Declan barely glanced at him, his calm demeanor unchanged. "You sound concerned."
Shay scoffed. "Concerned? No. But I do know what happens when a Chaos Number enters the field, and I'm guessing most people in this room don't." He turned fully to Declan, his eyes sharp. "You already know, don't you? What those things really are?"
Declan steepled his fingers, his gaze remaining fixed on the duel. "Enlighten me."
Shay huffed. "Fine. Chaos Numbers aren't just upgraded versions of regular Numbers. They're something more—a power that goes beyond the usual Xyz Summoning. They don't just evolve through Rank-Up-Magic. They're born from the duelist's will. A Chaos Number manifests when the duelist's determination, emotions, and instincts collide with their monster's power, forcing it to transcend its original limits."
Declan's eyes flickered with interest, but he remained silent.
Shay continued. "But here's the real kicker—Chaos Numbers aren't just stronger. They're designed to dominate. They rewrite the rules of battle, turning any duel into a fight where they control the pace. Special abilities that break through defenses, effects that neutralize an opponent's strategy—Chaos Numbers exist to end duels."
His gaze shifted back to the field as Utopia Ray Victory's power surged. "And Yuma's Utopia? That thing was already powerful, but now? Now it's something else entirely. If Kai doesn't have a way to counter it, this duel's as good as over."
Declan finally spoke; his tone measured. "Then the question remains—does Kai have what it takes to overcome it?"
Shay crossed his arms, watching the battlefield intently. "We're about to find out."
Duel Arena
I clenched my teeth in frustration as I stared at Yuma's new monster. I wasn't even able to get a single hit in and he even managed to summon an even more powerful monster. Hopeless, I could only end my turn.
"Didn't I already tell you? You have no hope of winning; I am sure you will end up realizing that fact like your friend Sora did when I crushed him and his little duel academy friends.
I growled, holding myself back from lashing out from that comment alone. "Just make your move."
"Very well then. I draw!"

Yuma smirked, holding up a card between his fingers. "I Normal Summon Gagaga Magician!"
Gagaga Magician LV4 (ATK 1500/DEF 1000)
A swirl of dark energy erupted on his field as a spellcaster in a long, tattered robe emerged, its golden staff pulsing with arcane power.
"Now, I activate its effect! I can change its level from 1 to 8. And the level I'm choosing... is 8!"
Gagaga Magician LV8 (ATK 1500/DEF 1000)
A surge of energy pulsed through Gagaga Magician as its form flickered, growing more powerful. The number 8 shone brightly above it, signaling its new level.
But Yuma wasn't done. He held up another card, his eyes gleaming. "Next, I activate the effect of the monster in my hand! Since I have a Gagaga monster on my field, I can Special Summon Gagaga Child!"
Gagaga Child LV2 (ATK 800/DEF 1200)
A second burst of light shot forth as a smaller, masked figure leaped onto the battlefield, twirling in mid-air before landing beside Gagaga Magician.
"And now, I activate Gagaga Child's effect! It can copy the level of any Gagaga monster on my field!"
My eyes widened as the realization struck. "Wait… but that means—!"
Yuma grinned. "Yup. Gagaga Child's level becomes 8, just like Gagaga Magician."
Gagaga Child LV8 (ATK 800/DEF 1200)
The small spellcaster pulsed with golden energy as the number 8 flared above its head, matching its partner.
Yuma's smirk widened as he stretched out his hand. "And you know what that means. When we Xyz users have two monsters with the same level, there's only one thing left to do!"
He raised his hand to the sky as a vortex of dark energy swirled above the field.
"With these two Level 8 monsters, I build the Overlay Network!"
Gagaga Magician and Gagaga Child shot into the swirling portal, transforming into twin streams of crimson light that spiralled into the abyss. The energy grew more violent, crackling with eerie black lightning as an ominous force stirred within.
Yuma clenched his fist, his voice rising with intensity.
"Born from the shadows, a machine of nightmares awakens! With soulless eyes, it watches—an eternal judge, an executioner without mercy! The harbinger of despair, the puppet of destruction!
"I Xyz Summon! Number 88 Gimmick Puppet of Leo!!"
Number 88 Gimmick Puppet of Leo LV8 (ATK 3200/DEF 2300)
A monstrous, mechanical entity emerged from the swirling darkness, its massive frame towering over the battlefield. Its rusted, puppet-like body creaked as it moved, its soulless, glowing eyes locking onto me with an unsettling presence. Giant mechanical hands twitched unnaturally at its sides, and a chilling aura seeped from its very core.
I looked over at the massive creature, not able to stop myself from feeling awe and excitement. Unfortunately, Yuma wasn't finished.
Yuma pointed directly at me, his confidence unwavering, his smirk widening. "Hope you're ready, 'cuz once Leo takes the stage—there's no escape! And now, I'll push it to its maximum potential!"
A flicker of unease crept up my spine as I watched him raise a spell card high into the air. The moment I saw it, my instincts screamed at me—this was bad.
"I activate Rank-Up-Magic Barian's Force!"
'Damn it.'
A surge of overwhelming energy crackled through the field, turning the sky an eerie shade of crimson. The ground beneath us trembled as arcs of dark electricity coiled around Gimmick Puppet of Leo, its massive puppet-like frame twitching violently as if something monstrous was clawing its way to the surface.
"You've gotta be kidding me," I muttered, gritting my teeth. "That thing was already a problem—now you're making it worse?!"
Yuma only laughed, his eyes gleaming with excitement. "Worse? No, Kai—this is so much better!"
The aura around Leo expanded into a vortex of chaotic energy, swallowing the entire field in a swirling storm of black and red. I raised my arm to shield my face as the sheer pressure of the summoning pressed down on me.
"With this spell, I take my Rank 8 monster and force it beyond its limits, transforming it into a Chaos Xyz Monster one rank higher!"
Leo's body convulsed, its metal limbs creaking as its entire form began to distort. The puppet strings that once controlled it snapped violently, sending shockwaves through the battlefield. The steel plating on its body twisted and stretched, growing larger, heavier, and deadlier. It was no longer just a machine—it was an executioner made of pure nightmare fuel.
"Titan of ruin, the harbinger of nightmares, evolve beyond the limits of this world! Rise from the abyss and drag all hope into despair!"
The black void surrounding Leo burst apart, revealing a colossal mechanical behemoth standing at the center of the field. My eyes widened as I took an involuntary step back.
It was… massive.
This wasn't just an Xyz Monster—it was a damn walking catastrophe. Its hulking body loomed far above the arena, its metallic joints grinding as it took its first earth-shaking step. Gears and chains rattled like the sound of death itself, each movement sending shockwaves across the battlefield. Its enormous, clawed hands twitched, ready to tear through whatever dared stand against it.
And its eyes.
What once had been hollow, puppet-like voids now burned with an unnatural crimson glow—soulless, merciless, hungry.
Yuma grinned, stretching his arms out dramatically. "I Xyz Summon! Chaos Number 88— Gimmick Puppet Disaster Leo!"
Number C88: Gimmick Puppet Disaster Leo Rank 9 (ATK 3500/DEF 2500)
The entire battlefield shook as the behemoth settled into place, its immense frame casting a shadow so massive it swallowed my side of the field completely. The sheer weight of its presence pressed against me like a force of nature—like it was already crushing my chances before I could even make a move.
I let out a slow breath, rolling my shoulders, forcing myself to push past the instinctive dread creeping up my spine.
Then, I smirked. "Damn, Yuma. I gotta say… this thing is ugly as hell."
Yuma let out a short laugh. "Ugly? Maybe. But it's going to be the last thing you see before this duel is over."
I crossed my arms, staring up at the metal monstrosity with a calculating gaze. "You're getting ahead of yourself. Do you think some oversized scrap heap is enough to scare me? Please. I've faced worse."
Yuma pointed at me, his confidence unwavering. "Then prove it. Because if you can't handle Disaster Leo… you're done."
I chuckled, cracking my neck. "Heh. All right then… let's see if this walking junkyard can keep up with me."
Yuma smirked as he thrust his hand forward. "I activate the effect of Gimmick Puppet Disaster Leo! By detaching one Xyz Material, I can deal you 1000 points of damage!"
The monstrous machine let out a deep, metallic groan, its massive gears grinding as one of the glowing Overlay Units orbiting it shattered into raw energy. The sky above darkened as a pulse of crimson lightning crackled around Disaster Leo's towering frame. Its soulless, burning red eyes locked onto me as if it were preparing to deliver a cruel judgment.
Then, with a horrifying screech, its massive, clawed hands shot forward, gathering a swirling mass of black and red energy between them. The energy condensed into a writhing, unstable sphere—like a miniature black hole, pulsing with chaotic force.
I barely had time to react before Disaster Leo thrust its arms forward. The sphere launched at me, spiraling violently as it tore through the air. The sheer force of it sent shockwaves rippling across the field, and when it finally slammed into my chest, an explosion of dark energy erupted on impact.
I staggered back, gritting my teeth as sparks flew from my duel disk. My Life Points plummeted by 1000, and the lingering shockwave left my body tense with static.
Kai LP: 6900
Yuma crossed his arms, smirking. "Feel that, Kai? That's just the start. You won't be standing much longer."
I exhaled sharply, rolling my shoulders as I steadied myself. My clothes were slightly singed from the attack, but I wasn't about to let him see me falter.
I smirked. "Tch… that all you got?"
Yuma's smirk widened as he pointed straight at my dragon. "Now, Disaster Leo—attack Divine Dragon Lord Felgrand!"
The towering mechanical behemoth let out a horrifying metallic screech, its gears grinding as it took a thundering step forward. The sheer weight of its movement sent tremors rippling across the battlefield. Sparks of crimson lightning danced across its massive frame, its burning red eyes locking onto Felgrand like a soulless executioner preparing for judgment.
With a deafening roar of machinery, Disaster Leo raised its enormous, rusted claws, their serrated edges humming with dark, pulsating energy. The aura surrounding it grew darker as if the city itself was being swallowed by the presence of this mechanical nightmare.
Then—it struck.
With a terrifying burst of speed, Disaster Leo lunged forward! Its massive claws tore through the air, black energy crackling in their wake as they barrelled straight toward Felgrand.
My dragon roared in defiance, its golden aura flaring as it spread its massive wings, preparing to counter. But Disaster Leo's speed was monstrous. Before Felgrand could react, the colossal puppet's claws ripped through its shining armor, tearing straight into its chest.
A shockwave of destruction erupted from the impact, a whirlwind of metallic debris and dark energy consuming the battlefield. The force of the attack sent Felgrand skidding back, its mighty frame barely holding against the overwhelming strength of the mechanical executioner.
And then—BOOM!
Felgrand exploded into a flurry of golden shards, its majestic form disintegrating into nothingness. The energy dispersed into the night sky, fading as if it had never been there.
I gritted my teeth, as I went flying towards a building behind me. feeling the sting as my Life Points dropped. Luckily for me, I found an action card next to me and picked it up before rising to my feet.
Unbothered Yuma smirked, unwavering as he thrust his hand forward. "Looks like your so-called dragon lord wasn't strong enough to handle the real nightmare. And don't worry—your Darkness Dragon is next! Utopia Ray Victory, attack Red-Eyes Darkness Metal Dragon!"
Utopia Ray Victory's crimson cape flared as it raised its massive, jagged blade, golden energy crackling around it like divine lightning. The entire battlefield trembled under its overwhelming presence, neon signs flickering wildly as the pressure of the attack built to its peak.
"I activate Utopia Ray Victory's effect!" Yuma declared, his voice filled with conviction. "By detaching one Overlay Unit, my monster gains 2800 attack points—and during this battle, you can't activate any monster effects to stop it!"
One of Utopia Ray Victory's Overlay Units shattered into glowing particles, and its power surged, its blade now shining so brightly that it cast long shadows across the battlefield.
"Now, end this! Utopia Ray Victory—strike down Red-Eyes Darkness Metal Dragon! Victory Slash!"
With a blinding burst of speed, Utopia Ray Victory lunged forward, its golden blade cleaving through the air like a shooting star. The very force of its swing sent out a pressure wave, splitting the pavement beneath its feet as it charged toward my dragon.
For a split second, the world seemed to slow.
Then—I grinned.
"Not bad, Yuma. But you're not getting rid of my dragon that easily!"
I thrust my hand forward, revealing a glowing card in my graveyard. "I activate Return of the Dragon Lords! By banishing this from my graveyard, I can protect my dragon from being destroyed!"
A shimmering golden barrier erupted around Red-Eyes Darkness Metal Dragon just as Utopia Ray Victory's blade came crashing down. The impact was monstrous—a shockwave of golden and black energy exploded outward, forcing both Yuma and me to brace against the force. Sparks flew as the sheer power of the attack threatened to break through, but the protective aura of Return of the Dragon Lords held firm.
However, that didn't mean I was getting off scot-free.
A second wave of energy erupted from the clash, sending a blast of force directly toward me. I gritted my teeth as the shockwave slammed into my chest, forcing me to skid backward. My duel disk sparked wildly as my Life Points plummeted by 2800, the sheer force leaving me slightly winded.
Kai: LP: 4100
Yuma clicked his tongue, lowering his arm. "Tch… so I couldn't destroy it, but you still took the hit."
I let out a slow breath before rolling my shoulders, shaking off the impact. Then, I smirked. "Yeah, yeah. That stung a little, I'll give you that."
Yuma crossed his arms. "Hmph. If you didn't have that graveyard effect, your dragon would be gone. Next turn, you won't be so lucky."
I let out a small chuckle, cracking my knuckles. "Funny, I was just about to say the same thing to you."
The battlefield simmered, the dust settling, but the intensity of the duel only escalated.
"I activate XYZ Treasure, since I have two xyz monsters on the field, I get to draw two cards." Yuma drew his card as he looked at them. "I set one card face down and end my turn."
I locked eyes with Yuma, determination burning in my gaze. "Now it's my turn. And trust me, Yuma—you're going to wish you took me out when you had the chance."
As I moved to draw my next card an image of a monster appeared in my head. I smiled knowing what was about to happen. "Want to come out early huh?" I said quietly as I looked at my deck "Very well then. Don't let me stop you!" I declared as I drew my card.
Control Room
Shay sat with his arms crossed, his sharp eyes locked onto the duel, his expression unreadable. His jaw clenched slightly as he watched Utopia Ray Victory and Disaster Leo standing tall, looming over Kai's field like unmovable titans.
Kai was fighting back, but with every move he made, Yuma countered. It was like watching a beast clawing to break free, only to have its chains tighten even more.
The Chairwoman smirked, leaning forward with interest. "Kai's running out of options. No matter what he does, Yuma keeps shutting him down. His control over the field is absolute."
Her gaze flickered toward Yuma, that same greedy glint flashing in her eyes. "Such talent… Such power… A duellist like him would be a valuable addition to my academy."
Shay barely spared her a glance, his focus still on the duel. He wasn't interested in whatever schemes the Chairwoman had. What mattered to him was what was happening on the battlefield.
And from what he was seeing, Kai was in deep trouble.
But still… something didn't sit right.
Shay narrowed his eyes. Kai was taking too many hits. If he was truly on the back foot, he'd be scrambling, desperate. But even after being knocked down to 2500 Life Points, his body language hadn't changed.
He wasn't panicking.
He wasn't hesitating.
He was waiting.
Declan, who had remained silent for most of the duel, finally spoke. "You seem awfully quick to count Kai out."
The Chairwoman turned her head toward him, raising an eyebrow. "Oh? And you're not?"
Declan steepled his fingers, his gaze never leaving the battlefield. "Yuma is strong. That much is obvious. But Kai… isn't the type to go down without a plan."
The Chairwoman chuckled. "A plan? Tell me, Declan, what plan could he possibly have? His dragons are being overpowered, his strongest monsters can't break through, and Yuma is dictating every move of this duel. There's no coming back from this."
Declan closed his eyes for a brief moment before speaking. "Dueling isn't just about power. It's about endurance. Adaptation. And more than anything…" He opened his eyes, a faint smirk tugging at his lips. "It's about the moment when you turn the impossible into reality."
Shay scoffed. "Hmph. So, you noticed it too?"
The Chairwoman frowned. "Noticed what?"
Shay leaned forward slightly, his eyes narrowing. "Kai's still got something left in his hand. And I don't mean just cards."
He watched as Kai pushed himself up, rolling his shoulders as if shaking off the last attack. Even with his field against him, his smirk hadn't wavered.
That was all the proof Shay needed.
Kai was about to do something big.
Declan's gaze remained steady. "This duel isn't over yet."

"First things first. I activate Red-Eyes Darkness Metal's effect to summon Divine Dragon Lord Felgrand back from the graveyard. Arise my monster."
Divine Dragon Lord Felgrand LV8 (ATK 2800/DEF 2800)
"Now with its effect, I can now banish your Gimmick Puppet Disaster Leo and gain life points equal to your rank times by 100, that's 900 attack points added to my Felgrand."
Divine Dragon Lord Felgrand then suddenly roared as a pillar of light descended from the sky towards Gimmick Puppet Disaster Leo.
"Nice try but I guess you haven't heard. My Gimmick Puppet Disaster Leo cannot be targeted by effects. If that's the best, you can do then this duel is all but over."
I kissed my teeth as the pillar of light disappeared leaving Yuma's monster untouched.
'I hope his other monster can be targeted… otherwise, I'm in trouble.' I thought, my eyes flickering toward Utopia Ray Victory, its imposing form standing like an unbreakable wall between me and my path forward.
I took a deep breath, then smirked. "Fine then! I activate the Spell Card—Red-Eyes Fusion!"
The moment I slammed the card onto my Duel Disk, the battlefield trembled as dark flames erupted around me, the sheer heat distorting the air.
"With this, I send Red-Eyes Black Dragon and Dark Magician from my Deck to the Graveyard in order to Fusion Summon!"
Yuma narrowed his eyes, his arms crossing as he muttered, "So you're finally showing your true colours, huh?"
I let out a low chuckle. "I ain't showing anything other than my full strength."
I thrust my arms out, the fire around me intensifying as two legendary figures emerged—Red-Eyes Black Dragon, its piercing gaze burning with relentless fury, and Dark Magician, his robes flowing as he lifted his staff, crackling with arcane power.
The two monsters slowly rose into the air as a swirling fusion vortex materialized between them. Darkness surged, consuming both figures as they spiraled into the void.
I clenched my fists, feeling the surge of power coursing through me. Then, I threw my arms wide, my voice roaring across the battlefield.
"Feel the power of darkness rising!"
The vortex pulsed violently, black lightning arcing through the sky as a deep, monstrous growl rumbled from within. The very air turned oppressive as if the weight of an ancient force was pressing down on everything in its path.
"The shadows themselves bend to my will, summoned from the depths of the forbidden! The flames of destruction shall consume all in their path! With every fiery breath, every crushing strike—this is the ultimate force of devastation!"
The vortex exploded in a massive burst of black and crimson fire, a towering figure emerging from within!
Two burning red eyes cut through the smoke, a fearsome silhouette taking shape as its enormous, armored form descended onto the battlefield. Dark energy radiated from its gleaming obsidian scales, its blade-like horns piercing the sky, and a long, flowing cape billowing in the infernal wind.
I brought my hands together, my voice filled with unwavering confidence.
"I Fusion Summon! Red-Eyes Dark Dragoon!!"
Red-Eyes Dark Dragoon LV8 (ATK 3000/DEF 2500)
The unstoppable sorcerer-dragon hybrid landed with a thunderous impact, the sheer force sending shockwaves across the arena. Dragoon let out a deafening roar, flames erupting from its mouth as its glowing crimson eyes locked onto Yuma's monsters like a predator eyeing its prey.
Yuma clenched his fists, his expression serious. "So that's your trump card, huh? Let's see if it's as strong as you say it is."
I smirked, my fingers tightening into a fist. "Oh, trust me, Yuma… you're about to find out."
Slowly, I raised my hand, pointing straight at his field as Dragoon's fiery aura intensified, the air around us growing thick with heat.
"I activate Red-Eyes Dark Dragoon's special ability!" My voice rang across the battlefield, dripping with confidence. "Once per turn, I can destroy one of your monsters—and you take damage equal to its attack points!"
Yuma's eyes widened slightly, his stance shifting. "What?!"
The ground beneath Dragoon cracked and burned as dark flames swirled within its massive maw. Shadows flickered wildly around it, its entire body radiating overwhelming power. The black fire, pulsing with destructive energy, coiled and condensed—a swirling inferno of annihilation.
Yuma gritted his teeth, his body tensing.
I grinned, locking eyes with him. "Say goodbye to your Utopia!"
With an ear-shattering roar, Dragoon unleashed its hellish flames! A massive torrent of black and crimson fire erupted from its mouth, the sheer force of it shaking the battlefield. The flames rushed forward like a tidal wave, devouring everything in their path as they barrelled straight for Utopia Ray Victory!
The moment the fire made contact; an explosion rocked the entire arena! The impact sent shockwaves rippling outward, forcing Yuma to brace himself as a fiery inferno engulfed his monster.
BOOM!
The towering puppet let out a deep, mechanical wail as its body was consumed by Dragoon's flames, its metal limbs melting under the sheer intensity of the attack before it burst apart into nothingness.
Yuma grunted as the force of the destruction slammed into him, his duel disk sparking wildly as his Life Points plummeted.
Yuma LP: 5200
I exhaled sharply, watching as the smoke slowly faded, leaving only Dragoon standing tall, its burning eyes still locked onto Yuma.
"That's one down," I said, rolling my shoulders, my smirk never fading. "Ready to lose the next one? Because I'm not done yet!"
I thrust my hand forward, my voice echoing through the battlefield. "Red-Eyes Dark Dragoon, attack Gimmick Puppet Disaster Leo! Crimson Flare of Destruction!"
Flames erupted around Dragoon, wrapping around its body like a blazing shield as it spread its wings. The infernal energy crackled and surged, scorching the very air as Dragoon launched forward, cutting through the battlefield like a meteor aiming to obliterate everything in its path.
Yuma let out a short laugh, shaking his head. "Hah! You idiot! Your Dark Dragoon is way too weak to even put a dent in my Puppet Leo! I expected a real challenge, but it looks like you're just a puny little we—"
I sighed dramatically, cutting him off. "You done ranting?"
Yuma blinked, his smug expression faltering. "What?"
I smirked, raising a glowing card. "If you're finished, I'd love to activate my Action Spell: Power Surge!"
A pulse of golden energy burst forth from my duel disk, washing over Dragoon in an instant. Its flames flared wildly, burning hotter and brighter as its attack power surged.
"With this, my monster gains 800 extra attack points!" Dragoon let out a menacing roar as its energy intensified. "And since this spell was activated during the battle phase, it gains an additional 300 attack points on top of that!"
Yuma's confident smirk vanished in an instant, his eyes widening. "Wait—what?!"
Red-Eyes Dark Dragoon LV8 (ATK 4100/DEF 2500)
I pointed straight at his monster, my grin widening. "Looks like my Dragoon is strong enough now! And bad news for you, Yuma—your oversized puppet is going down!"
Dragoon's flames reached their peak, swirling into a massive inferno of destruction as it barrelled straight toward Disaster Leo! Destroying it and sending Yuma crashing into a building.
Yuma LP: 4600
The city now was on fire. The damage from the battles was too much for it to handle. To Shay, it reflected the state the xyz dimension was in now, but to Yuma, It reflected what he was about to do to Kai. Destruction!
A low chuckle echoed through the battlefield. Then it grew.
"Hahaha… hahaha… HAHAHAHAHA!"
Through the lingering smoke and fading embers of my attack, Yuma's laughter rang out, dark and unhinged. When the dust finally settled, I saw him standing there, his head tilted slightly downward, his shoulders shaking—not from fear, but from pure exhilaration.
His eyes snapped up to meet mine, gleaming with something almost manic. "You've got some skill. Nice. I was hoping you'd live up to my expectations, and you're doing just that perfectly." He licked his lips, his smirk widening. "Thank you, Kai… for being such a lively victim."
A pulse of unease crept down my spine. Something about the way he said that…
Yuma clenched his fists, his entire body trembling—not from weakness, but from sheer rage. "And now, I can't wait to take that little flicker of hope you have and snuff it out! Just like you and your people did to mine!"
I furrowed my brows. "My people—? What the hell are you—?"
"DON'T PLAY DUMB!" Yuma roared, his voice cracking under the sheer force of his anger. His Duel Disk flared to life, a crimson glow surrounding his field as a card shot out into his hand.
His breath was heavy, his stance wild—he was starting to lose it.
"You think just because you've hit us hard, we're going to run in fear?!" His voice was like a dagger, seething with venom. "NEWS FLASH, KAI—YOU'RE the one who's going to run in fear!!"
A thunderous shockwave erupted around him as he thrust a card into his Duel Disk.
"I activate the Spell Card—Seventh Force! Since you destroyed my monster, I can summon a Chaos Number monster of the same Type, but one Rank higher—and I'll use the very monster you just destroyed as material!"
The broken remains of Gimmick Puppet Giant Hunter suddenly trembled, its scattered fragments lifting from the ground. Sparks of violet lightning crackled through the air, surrounding the debris in an unnatural force as they began to reform.
A massive black vortex erupted behind Yuma, swirling with violent energy as the mechanical pieces were sucked into its abyss. The entire battlefield shook violently, the pressure alone making my Duel Disk spark in protest.
Yuma's hands clenched into trembling fists, his eyes burning with unrelenting fury. "The war machine of fate spins once more! A titan of annihilation awakens—wielding the force to CRUSH all who stand before it! Chaos Evolution!"
The swirling void let out a thunderous pulse as a massive metallic shape began to emerge. Towering above the cityscape, a colossal, mechanized sphere took form—its sleek, futuristic plating adorned with glowing red energy conduits. Gigantic mechanical arms unfurled from its sides, humming with power, while its enormous, central crimson eye locked onto me like a predator sizing up its prey.
Yuma's voice boomed through the arena.
"Appear! Chaos Number 9—Chaos Dyson Sphere!"
Number C9: Chaos Dyson Sphere Rank 10 (ATK 3800/DEF 3200)
A sudden gust of wind rushed through the battlefield as the monstrous orbital weapon settled into place, its sheer size casting a suffocating shadow over the entire city. The mechanical titan hovered high above, its immense frame blotting out the sky itself.
I gritted my teeth, instinctively taking a step back.
'Damn it… That thing is MASSIVE.'
Sakaki House
Everyone had been completely engrossed in the duel, their eyes glued to the screen. Every moment, every attack sent ripples of emotion through them.
They shouted in worry whenever Kai was sent flying, wincing as his Life Points took heavy hits. They stared in hope whenever he stood back up, flashing that confident smirk, refusing to stay down no matter what Yuma threw at him. And when he had summoned Red-Eyes Dark Dragoon, their voices had erupted in cheers, the sight of his ace monster reigniting their belief that he could still win this.
But now…
That hope was fading.
A chilling silence settled over the room as the screen displayed the colossal form of Chaos Dyson Sphere, its enormous metallic body blotting out the sky like an omen of absolute destruction. Its central crimson eye pulsed menacingly, sending eerie red flashes through the arena, its very presence suffocating.
Then—
CRASH.
The sudden sound of glass shattering snapped everyone's attention back to reality.
Yoko gasped, her hands covering her mouth as she stared in horror at the screen. In her shock, she had knocked over her cup, sending it tumbling to the floor, the broken shards scattered at her feet—yet she didn't even notice. Her mind was elsewhere.
On him.
On Kai.
Yuya's fists were clenched so tightly that his knuckles had turned white. "No way…" His voice was barely a whisper yet filled with disbelief. His usual fire, his unwavering confidence in Kai, was wavering. He had seen powerful monsters before, but this—this was something else entirely.
Yuzu stood frozen, her hands gripping the edges of the table so hard they shook. "H-he's… He's actually going to fight that?!" Her voice wavered, almost as if she didn't believe her own words.
Gong's normally steady composure was gone. He gulped, his eyes locked onto the screen, his stance shifting uncomfortably. "Gong… really don't like this one bit." His voice lacked his usual booming confidence—it was the first time he had ever sounded afraid.
The shadow of Chaos Dyson Sphere loomed over the battlefield, its presence alone warping the space around it. A deep, low metallic hum reverberated from within its core, sending waves of pressure through the air, as if it was alive, watching, waiting, ready to erase anything in its path.
Then came Yuma's voice, filled with twisted excitement.
Control Room
The atmosphere inside the control room had shifted dramatically. The once analytical and composed environment now felt tense, suffocating—like the air itself had thickened with the sheer weight of what was unfolding.
Operators who had previously monitored the duel with passive interest were now leaning forward, their fingers hesitating over their keyboards, their eyes glued to the screen. The glowing monitors reflected in their widened pupils, each one displaying the monstrous form of Chaos Dyson Sphere as it towered over the battlefield.
A low murmur spread through the room.
"Is that thing even legal…?"
"How is Kai supposed to fight that?"
"This match… it's over, isn't it?"
The Chairwoman's lips curled into a smug smile, her greedy eyes drinking in the sight of the duel's turning point. She rested her chin on her hand, the excitement flickering across her face. "Now this is what I like to see," she purred. "A duelist being utterly dominated. Pushed to their limits, forced to stare down absolute power.
She chuckled lightly. "Yuma… you truly are a gem. His talent, his ruthlessness—he belongs at my academy."
Shay, however, wasn't smiling.
His jaw clenched, his fists curling so tightly that his knuckles turned white. His sharp eyes scanned the screen, watching as Kai stood beneath the colossal war machine, still smirking.
He grits his teeth. "Kai, what the hell are you smiling for…?"
Declan, sitting silently in his chair, didn't react at first. His eyes remained locked onto the battlefield, watching the pieces shift into place. The tension in the room didn't affect him—he was thinking. Calculating.
Then, slowly, he leaned forward, his fingers interlacing as he rested his elbows on the table.
The Chairwoman noticed. She smirked, turning to him. "Don't tell me you're still holding out hope for your little wildcard?"
Declan didn't even glance at her. "Tell me something," he said smoothly, his voice calm, measured. "What do you see when you look at that screen?"
The Chairwoman raised an eyebrow. "A duellist who's about to be crushed."
Shay scoffed under his breath but said nothing.
Declan's smirk barely twitched. "Funny," he murmured. "Because I see someone who still hasn't given up. And if he hasn't, then I won't either."
The Chairwoman frowned slightly but said nothing, turning her attention back to the duel.
Shay's eyes, however, never left the screen. His expression darkened, his brows furrowing. "I don't know..." he muttered, almost to himself.
A part of him wanted Yuma to win. To crush Kai. But as he stared at Yuma, at the wild gleam in his eyes, the unsettling grin stretching across his face, he felt something was off.
This wasn't the Yuma he had grown up with.
This wasn't the friend he once knew.
He clenched his fists. "Determination alone won't be enough to beat a monster like Yuma. Kai's going to need a hell of a lot more than that."
Arena
Yuma laughed again; his eyes wild. "It doesn't matter what you try, Kai. It doesn't matter how strong you think you are. You're standing in the shadow of inevitable destruction!"
He spread his arms wide, grinning like a madman. "Your dragons burn brightly, but my chaos is eternal! Let's see how you handle THIS!"
I gritted my teeth, my fists clenching as I stood beneath the colossal mechanical behemoth looming over me. Its enormous metallic body cast a suffocating shadow across the battlefield, its crimson core pulsing like a heartbeat of destruction. Every hum, every slight movement of its massive limbs sent shockwaves through the air, making the ground beneath me tremble.
For the first time in this duel… I truly felt the weight of what I was up against.
But even as the pressure bore down on me, even as the overwhelming presence of Chaos Dyson Sphere threatened to crush me—I refused to run scared.
I exhaled sharply, steeling myself.
I wasn't done yet. No matter what, I was going to walk out here the victor!
