Chapter 163: The Sacred Spirit Pool

"Fusion of Yuan Power?" Lin Langtian muttered, and then his eyes lit up with sudden understanding.

"This Yuan Power Fusion is only possible with a bond like ours," Ling Yi explained. "It's simple, really—we merge our Yuan Power, and that process will give your energy unique attributes."

As she spoke, Ling Yi extended a black wing, its feathers glowing with dark flames.

"The Nine Nether Flame is a natural ability of the Nine Nether Sparrows, able to ignite Yuan Power and many other energies with terrifying potency. And this flame will grow stronger with my evolution. Once I return to my true Nine Nether Phoenix form, these black flames will transform into the even mightier Nine Nether Inferno," she continued. "If you complete the fusion, your Yuan Power will inherit the properties of this Nine Nether Flame. It will be a more dominant, powerful Yuan Power than what most can cultivate. This upgrade is a true transformation."

"Oh?" Lin Langtian's face lit up with excitement. While he could use Ling Yi's Nine Nether Flame in his attacks, it vanished as soon as he stopped channeling her energy; it was never really a part of his own Yuan Power. But what she was describing now would allow him to permanently infuse his Yuan Power with the flame's attributes.

"So, how do we carry out this Yuan Power Fusion?" he asked, eager.

"It's not a simple task," Ling Yi replied. "In the past, our bond wasn't strong enough for this level of fusion, but we should be able to attempt it now. And tomorrow, when the royal family opens the Sacred Spirit Pool, it may provide the perfect opportunity."

"Understood!" Langtian laughed, delighted. Infusing his Yuan Power with the Nine Nether Flame would significantly boost his battle prowess, giving him an edge in the upcoming Hundred Dynasties Battle.

The next morning, as sunlight broke over the horizon, the entire capital city came to life. In recent days, the topic on everyone's lips was the seed selection trial, the most prestigious contest among the younger generation of the Great Flame Dynasty. Stories of Langtian's effortless victory and his battle with Wang Lei spread quickly, shocking everyone. After all, Wang Lei was not only the head of the powerful Wang Clan but one of the Dynasty's most formidable figures, yet here he had been defeated by a young newcomer, Lin Langtian. News of Langtian's win established him firmly as the Dynasty's greatest talent in centuries.

As the city buzzed with stories of Lin Langtian's triumph, he and his fellow candidates made their way back to the palace. Led by Mo Jingtian, they ventured deep into the palace grounds, eventually arriving in a vast, secluded forest. Before them was a large altar covered in mysterious runes that radiated a powerful energy.

"The Sacred Spirit Pool is hidden within this altar," Lin Fan explained to Langtian and Lin Dong. "The royal family, along with the four great clans and three top sects, built it years ago. It opens once every twenty years."

Langtian nodded, but he couldn't help but notice Wang Lei was nowhere to be seen.

"Yesterday's news of you defeating Wang Lei spread through the city and will reach all of the Great Flame Dynasty soon enough. Out of shame, he and his clan left the capital overnight," Lin Fan said, noticing Langtian's curiosity. "But his absence won't affect the ritual. Everything is prepared."

"Since everyone is here, let us begin opening the altar," Mo Jingtian announced, stepping forward.

The leaders of the three remaining clans and the three sect masters joined Mo Jingtian around the altar, positioning themselves in a circle.

"Let's proceed!" Mo Jingtian called out, his hands moving in a complex pattern. A beam of light shot from his palms and struck the altar.

One by one, the others followed, their beams merging on the altar, causing it to emit a deep humming. Gradually, a shimmering halo appeared above it, expanding into a massive energy vortex.

From this vortex, Langtian sensed a powerful, mystical energy radiating outward.

"Within that halo lies the Sacred Spirit Pool. Lin Langtian, Mo Ling, and the rest of you, enter now!" Mo Jingtian instructed.

"Yes, Your Majesty!" Langtian responded. He exchanged a quick glance with Lin Dong, giving the golden crow on his arm a gentle pat before he leaped into the halo, disappearing instantly. The others followed right behind him.

With the five candidates safely within the halo, Mo Jingtian and the others sat cross-legged around the altar, channeling their energy to sustain the vortex until the five emerged once more.

Inside the vortex, Langtian's vision darkened briefly before a gentle light replaced it. The smell of moist earth and a faint, fragrant aroma filled the air.

When he looked up, he saw a massive pool of water stretching out before him. Its surface was an emerald green, radiating vitality, and a pure, concentrated energy flowed steadily from its depths.

"This must be the Sacred Spirit Pool," Langtian murmured, gazing at the magical, emerald waters. "This energy is astonishing. Looks like this place is perfect for Yuan Power fusion…"
