World Hopping With Gacha

Chapter 71: Ch 71: The Meeting

Arthur sat back in his chair, sipping his coffee as he stared at the Gacha screen. The countdown timer in the corner showed only a few minutes left before his spins were replenished. He stretched, feeling the anticipation build.

This time, he was planning something different. Instead of choosing a specific world, he was going to use the Random World function of his World Hopper ability and see where fate would take him. After all, why not? He wasn't exactly in danger anywhere.

Why, you ask?

1. He was immortal.

2. If he somehow died, he would respawn in his universe.

3. There weren't many things in existence that could overpower Avalon.

Well… there were, but they weren't exactly common.

As the notification popped up—[Spins 3/3]—Arthur cracked his knuckles and grinned. "Alright, let's gamble."

The wheel spun for a few seconds before landing on [Allowance]. A notification popped up:

Every 24 hours, you will receive 50,000 in the local currency of the world/place you are in.

Arthur raised an eyebrow. "Huh. Not bad… but also kinda useless."

If he was in Japan, he'd get 50,000 yen. If he was in America, it'd be 50,000 USD. The amount adjusted depending on the place/world, but considering he could already create infinite money if he wanted to, this wasn't exactly life-changing.

"Alright, next."

The wheel spun again and landed on something far more interesting.

[Lucky Dice]: A magical six-sided die. Once per day, rolling it grants a luck increase for 12 hours.

1 = 10% boost, 6 = 60% boost.

Arthur smirked. "Now this… this could be useful."

Luck was always a tricky thing. Whether it was getting good loot, avoiding deadly traps, or even just having random events go in his favor, an extra luck boost could make all the difference.

The wheel spun one last time… and landed on [Broken Wood].

A literal broken piece of wood.

Arthur blinked at the screen. Then he stared at the useless chunk of wood in his inventory. "What the hell am I supposed to do with this?"

For a second, he just sat there in silence, staring at it. Then, finally, he sighed. "I should've used the dice first."

Hindsight was 20/20.

He leaned back, rubbing his temples. The [Allowance] was practically useless. The [Lucky Dice] was good, but this [Broken Wood] was just… depressing. Maybe it had some hidden ability? Or maybe it was just as worthless as it looked.

Still, he didn't dwell on it too long.

He placed the Lucky Dice on the table and picked it up, rolling it between his fingers. "Alright, let's test my luck."

With a flick of his wrist, he tossed the dice onto the table. It bounced a few times before finally landing on…

5.

A glowing notification appeared:

Luck Boost: +50% for 12 hours.

Arthur grinned. "Not bad."

With that, he put everything away and opened the Random World selection screen. Rays of light and energy formed around him, waiting for him to take the next step.

Arthur finished the last sip of his coffee, stretched his arms, and smirked. "Alright, let's see where I end up this time."

As the swirling light of his teleportation faded, Arthur found himself in an unexpected place.

A bathroom.

More specifically, a men's restroom, judging by the urinals lining the wall. The faint scent of disinfectant and the hum of fluorescent lights made it clear—this was a modern world.

Arthur sighed, rubbing his temple. "At least I didn't land in the middle of a battlefield."

He quickly scanned his surroundings. There was no trace of supernatural energy in the air, which meant this was most likely an ordinary world. No mana, no ki, no crazy martial arts battles waiting for him outside.

"Alright, first things first."

He created a new identity for himself on the spot—one that fit the world's records seamlessly. Then, pulling out his phone, he checked his location.

[Current Location: Tokyo, Japan]

Arthur hummed thoughtfully. Tokyo, huh?

With a flick of his wrist, he switched his attire to normal streetwear—a plain white T-shirt, a black jacket, and jeans. Nothing flashy. He activated Presence Concealment to avoid standing out and stepped outside.

The station was crowded, as expected for Tokyo. People moved in all directions, heads buried in their phones, briefcases in hand, conversations buzzing around him. A normal, peaceful world.

Arthur walked over to a ticket machine. He had no idea where he wanted to go, so he simply bought a random ticket and followed the flow of passengers.

Stepping onto the train, Arthur found himself a seat by the window. The rhythmic sound of the train doors closing, the hum of movement—it was oddly relaxing.

His eyes wandered over the passengers, absentmindedly observing them.

Then—he saw her.

A girl with long, dark hair and sharp, intelligent wine coloured eyes. She was seated across from him, casually flipping through a book.

Arthur felt a strange sense of déjà vu.

Do I know her?

Something about her presence tugged at his memory. He continued staring, his mind racing to place her face. Was she from one of the Anime I watched or maybe a game? A character he was supposed to remember?

Without realizing it, he let go of his Presence Concealment.

The girl's eyes lifted from her book.

For a brief moment, their gazes locked. There was a flicker of recognition in her expression—or maybe just curiosity.

Then, slowly, she smirked.

"…Enjoying the view?"

Arthur blinked, caught off guard.

"…Huh?"

The girl tilted her head slightly, still smirking. "You've been staring at me for a while."

Arthur cleared his throat. "Uh… sorry, you just look familiar."

She closed her book with a soft thud, placing it on her lap. "Is that so?"

Arthur nodded, trying to place where he might have seen her before. There was something unnervingly familiar about her demeanor—confident, sharp, observant.

"You don't seem like a regular commuter," she remarked, eyes scanning him as if she were analyzing him.

Arthur smirked slightly. "And you don't seem like a regular student."

Her eyes glinted with amusement. "Touché."

Arthur leaned back. "So, what book are you reading?"

She tapped the cover lightly with her finger. "A novel. Ever heard of Koisuru Metronome

?"

Arthur frowned. "Koisuru Metronome?"

The name didn't ring a bell.

The girl studied his reaction before giving a soft chuckle. "Huh. Interesting."

Arthur felt a weird sense of foreboding. Why did she look so entertained?

Before he could ask, the train announced its next stop. The girl grabbed her bag, rising to her feet.

"Well, this is my stop," she said. She hesitated for a second before flashing him one last smirk. "See you around… maybe."

Then, without another word, she stepped off the train.

Arthur sat there, staring after her.

"…Who the hell was that?"

And more importantly—why did it feel like their meeting was just the beginning of something much bigger?
