Chapter 1071: Ask Her If She Wants To Eat A Sausage

"Have you finally calmed down?" Ethan asked after kissing Nicole's forehead and hugging her -close.

"Yes," Nicole replied as she hugged Ethan tighter. "Thank you."

The two kept their position for several more minutes before Nicole took the initiative to pull back and kiss the side of Ethan's cheek.

"Let's go," Nicole said.

"Okay." Ethan nodded.

The young lady once again held Ethan's hand and headed to the stairs.

As soon as the two teenagers left the cottage, the secret passage automatically closed itself. Ethan had been closely observing the young lady, so he could tell that she had finally managed to let go of some of the extra baggage that had been weighing her down.

When they exited the door and arrived at the garden, Oscar and some of the Elders of the Asta Family were there, as if waiting for their return.

"We have prepared lunch for the two of you," Oscar said. "Would you like to dine with us?" Ethan glanced at Nicole, waiting for her to decide. He only followed her to the Asta Residence. Regardless of how Nicole treated them, he would stand by her side and ensure her safety.

"Thank you for the offer, but Ethan and I still have places to go," Nicole said.

"Nicole, it's been a while since you've been home," an old man, who was one of Nicole's uncles, commented. "Why don't you spare some time with your relatives and catch up a bit?"

"Thanks, but no thanks," Nicole replied. "We'll be on our way."

Seeing how firm she was, the other Elders of the Asta Family who wanted to try to mend their ties with her didn't know how to proceed.

Oscar could tell that Nicole really didn't want to spend any more time with them, so he decided to ask her a question that made the young lady stop in her tracks.

"Do you wish to be the next Matriarch of the Asta Family?" Oscar asked. "Right now, you are the most suitable candidate."

Sebastian and Ethan's Other Half looked at the Patriarch of the Asta Family in disdain.

'This old fox really knows how to throw a bone,' Sebastian commented.

'Hmph! Become the Matriarch of the Asta Family?' Ethan's Other half snorted. 'This fool is still dreaming. What's so good about being the head of this rotten family?'

Nicole turned her head to look at Oscar, who was looking back at her with a serious expression on his face.

"Thanks for the offer, but I am no longer interested," Nicole replied. "You missed your chance a year ago."

"Why are you no longer interested in becoming the Matriarch of this family?" Oscar asked. "We are one of the Great Families that support this kingdom. What is there to dislike?"

"All of you," Nicole answered. "I dislike all of you. Besides, I will not have the surname Asta for much longer. Keep your family name to yourself."

Nicole then pulled Ethan's hand and walked away without a second glance.

Sebastian and Ethan's Other Half gave the young lady a thumbs up and even told Ethan that he should have a dozen kids with Nicole.

Naturally, Ethan ignored the two bastards from the peanut gallery and wordlessly walked beside Nicole to leave the Asta Family residence.

Once they were outside the main gates, Ethan summoned his Wind Dancer.

However, before he could even get on it, Nicole sat in the front, which was reserved for the one piloting the Wind Dancer.

"What are you waiting for?" Nicole asked while smiling. "Hop on and hold tight, or else, you'll fall."

Ethan smiled back and sat behind Nicole before hugging her waist.

A moment later, the Wind Dancer soared toward the sky, leaving the Asta Family behind. "There's a place I'd like to visit," Nicole said. "Do you mind if we delay our trip back to the academy a bit?"

"I don't mind," Ethan replied. "We can go wherever you want to go."

"Are you sure about that? Even if we go to World's End?"

"... On second thought, let's choose our destination wisely."

Nicole giggled after hearing Ethan's reply. She knew that the Progenitor of Magic and Ethan weren't really on good terms with each other.

"Ethan, there's something that I need to talk to you about later," Nicole stated. "It's about Baradiel."

"Did something happen?" Ethan, who was quite sensitive to any topics regarding Baradiel, asked.

"She asked me for a favor," Nicole answered. "However, this also concerns you, so I will need your opinion before agreeing to it."

"Can you tell me a little more about it?" Ethan inquired. "If it's important, we can talk about it now."

"Not now," Nicole insisted. "It... it will ruin the mood. I don't want to ruin the mood right now."

Because of her words, the young man no longer asked what kind of favor the Progenitor had asked of Nicole.

Since it might ruin the current mood, he decided to just wait until she was ready to tell him. The two flew for nearly two hours before arriving at a small hill overlooking a flower field. Nicole landed the Wind Dancer beside the tree that stood on top of the hill and took in the scenery in front of her.

"When I was five, my father and mother took me to this place," Nicole said as she reminisced about the distant past. "Perhaps, that was the happiest time of my childhood. At least before I met Mr. Ghost."

Nicole then closed her eyes and breathed in the fresh air, slowly dispelling the lingering traces of anger in her body from the brief confrontation with Oscar, as well as her Uncles, who had treated her like air when she was young.

"This place is beautiful," Ethan said as he, too, admired the scenery around him.

The flower field was in full bloom, showing flowers of different colors that made the scenery similar to a beautiful painting.

"Do you want to have a picnic here?" Ethan asked. "I can make sandwiches if you like."

"I'm already tired of eating sandwiches." Nicole shook her head. "That's all we've been

eating since our journey began."

'Ask her if she wants to eat a sausage,' Sebastian asked.

'She can also have the eggs if she's interested,' Ethan's Other Half, who was more than happy

to join his comrade in messing with Ethan, commented.

The young man ignored the two just like he always did whenever they started talking

nonsense.

"Ethan, do you want to taste my cooking?" Nicole asked. "I've been practicing as of late."

'Um? Why does this sound like a death flag to me?' Sebastian scratched his head.

'Do you hear some kind of music?' Ethan's Other Half inquired. 'It sounds like some boss music is playing in the background. Will Ethan be fighting some kind of Boss Battle?'

Ethan blinked once then twice before tilting his head to the side.

When he was training Nicole as Mr. Ghost, he also taught her how to cook so that she could

survive on her own.

While he didn't have the chance to taste her cooking, he could still remember the bitter expression on her face whenever she tried to do an experiment and create a dish that she had

never cooked before.

"S-Sure," Ethan replied. "Sounds good."

"I'm sure you will love it," Nicole said. "One of my friends who tasted it said that it was

something to die for."

'Oh dear, I am starting to hear that Boss Music you were talking about earlier,' Sebastian

commented.

'Right?' Ethan's Other Half agreed. 'The music is getting louder as well.'

Ethan was already trying to use Mimir's Wisdom to check whether his body was strong

enough to resist any form of food poisoning.

Although he believed that Nicole wouldn't really create something diabolical, he should at least prepare for what was about to come.
