Chapter 125: Chapter 125: The Letter and Departure
"When you arrive at White Stone Castle, look for a third-level wizard named Ethan Turt. The Turt family is a well-known wizard family in White Stone Castle, so they shouldn't be hard to find," Kosti said. From beneath her robe, a white object fluttered out, "flapping" like a dove as it flew towards Ronan.
When it landed in Ronan's hands, he saw it was a letter, sealed with silver wax and marked with Kosti's unique magical sigil.
"Though Ethan and I have lost contact and haven't visited each other in a long time, our friendship remains. Take this introduction letter to him; with sufficient payment, he'll ensure everything is properly arranged for you."
"Everything you might need is in the storage pouch I just gave you. In three days, a ship from the Third Ring will depart for White Stone Castle. The journey from the Ring takes twenty days by ship, and if all goes well, you should return quickly."
Kosti paused, then continued, "Regardless of whether your trip is successful, you must return promptly. You can stay in White Stone Castle for a maximum of two and a half months, or you'll miss the first opportunity to enter the Mirror Court for exploration."
"Understood."
Ronan nodded, carefully storing Kosti's letter.
After leaving Kosti, Ronan returned to his residence.
The efficiency of the tower's maintenance staff was impressive; the crystal window in Ronan's room had already been repaired.
Sitting by the large crystal window, Ronan took out the two items Kosti gave him. Unable to open the letter, he inspected the storage pouch.
The resources needed for advancing to second-level were abundant, exceeding Ronan's expectations by threefold.
Additionally, there was a collection of components emitting rune energy, meant for constructing temporary rune arrays.
Ronan counted eight sets for different functions and effects, all prepared by Kosti for his solo journey.
Holding the storage pouch full of items, Ronan felt a strong sense of "maternal" care.
Well, perhaps "maternal" wasn't the right term for Kosti, considering her age could make her Ronan's great-grandmother, but "sisterly" seemed more fitting.
Storing Kosti's items, Ronan's eyes subtly flickered as he retrieved a small square metal box from his spatial ring.
Opening it, he found only a single snow-white letter inside, seemingly exuding a faint chill.
This was the box he obtained from Linus, containing the "newcomer inheritance package" for first-level ice wizards.
Having used everything else in the box, only this letter remained.
"Dear Soraya,
When you read this letter, I should already be dead."
Ronan reread the letter, then gently closed it.
He picked up the envelope, his slender fingers gliding over its icy surface, finally finding some small words on the back—White Stone Highlands.
"If the address on this envelope—White Stone Highlands—is indeed the White Stone Castle Kosti mentioned..."
Looking out at the vast, serene sky, Ronan murmured to himself, "Isn't that a coincidence?"
In a microcosmic space, a middle-aged man with white-streaked hair was crouched in a lush herbal garden, tending to something.
As he dusted off his hands and stepped out of the plot, he suddenly froze mid-motion.
He saw a young man standing quietly about ten meters away, watching him.
Their eyes met, and after a moment, the middle-aged man spoke, "Everyone has their secrets, but I didn't expect you to have so many hidden from me."
The young man shook his head, a wry smile on his handsome face.
"Benigo, it's been over ten days, and your first words to a friend are accusations?"
The middle-aged man paused, then his gaze softened, and he whispered almost to himself, "Welcome back... Damien."
"White Stone Castle."
After hearing Ronan's tale, Benigo showed no surprise, calmly responding, "The Ringmaster's suggestion is sound.
Even if she hadn't mentioned it, I would have advised you to visit when nearing second-level or mid-second-level advancement."
"Why those points?"
Ronan frowned.
"White Stone Castle is famous for its ice talent transplantation, effective only during mental crystallization. Outside those points, you'd have to shatter and reform your mental crystals for transplantation, and no one would do something so foolish."
Benigo explained, "Once you reach White Stone Castle and find someone willing to perform the transplant, they'll explain in detail."
Ronan noted Benigo referred to it as "talent transplantation," not "bloodline transplantation," suggesting the technology might be weaker than he'd imagined.
"In terms of cultivation, the Ringmaster's guidance and arrangements are far superior to mine. Follow her advice."
Benigo shifted the topic, gazing towards the herbal garden, contemplating, "Your trip to White Stone Castle will take over two months round trip.
The Sacred Blood Tree seedling is in a crucial growth phase and can't go too long without your blood nourishment.
I suggest you take it with you."
Hearing this, Ronan blinked, retrieving several items from his spatial ring to give Benigo.
They were resources and materials he'd gathered in the Ring to aid the Sacred Blood Tree's growth, including the vial of Moon-Eating Whale essence blood.
Benigo immediately noticed the bottle of blood.
"Moon-Eating Whale essence blood."
Benigo lifted the small bottle of gray-blue liquid, impressed, "It seems you're highly valued in the Seventh Ring to acquire this."
He couldn't help but admire the bottle's contents, "It's said Moon-Eating Whale blood is the purest deep-sea color, reflecting the whale itself.
Your essence blood has lost most of its vitality and been repeatedly diluted... but it's better than nothing."
Benigo looked at Ronan, "When are you departing for White Stone Castle?"
"In three days."
"That should be enough time."
Benigo nodded, quickly storing the essence blood and materials, then busily tending to various tasks at several lab tables.
Three days later.
Outside the Third Ring's massive metal arch, a colossal spell airship, over ten stories high and covered in rune glow, slowly docked mid-air.
Wizards gathered beneath the arch boarded one by one, including a "unremarkable" white-haired, blue-eyed youth—Ronan, setting off for White Stone Castle.
Ronan had learned the ship wasn't directly from the Third Ring.
It belonged to a wizard commerce guild called "Black Heron," temporarily docking at the Silver Ring.
The Third Ring, having accepted the [Elemental Ring] ice legacy, had the most wizards heading to White Stone Castle, making it the "boarding point."
Ronan discreetly counted twenty-three Silver Ring wizards boarding, mostly from the Third Ring, with a few, like himself, from other rings focusing on ice magic.
He even recognized two familiar faces from the "Wet Jungle" brainflower contest, one being the small group's leader.
However, with time passing and his appearance and aura altered, plus Borby's illusion ring reducing his "presence," they didn't recognize him.
Aboard the spell ship, Ronan found many wizards already present, most specializing in ice magic, exuding varying degrees of cold aura.
Their strength varied, most being first-level wizards, with some eighth or ninth-level apprentices, and even a few second-level wizards.
Judging by their demeanor and aura, many were wandering wizards, the rest from small wizard factions. The Ring wizards boarding were all late first-level, their mental power solidifying the air, their elite demeanor contrasting sharply with the other wizards.
All watched them with a mix of awe and respect, making way and keeping their distance.
Two second-level wizards initially on deck quickly retreated, wary of Ronan's group.
"The Silver Ring, with its many third-level wizards and possibly fourth-level dawn wizards, has a strong reputation in the area, a powerful image deeply ingrained."
Ronan observed silently, reflecting.
Once, he was part of this wandering wizard crowd, looking at "chosen ones" like the Hoddam Academy's official wizards with the same admiration and awe.
Now, in a blink, he had become what he once envied, even ten times stronger... how times change.
"Teacher, why don't we disembark at the Silver Ring? It seems so powerful."
"The Silver Ring isn't easy to join... White Stone Castle suits us better..."
"Okay."
Ronan heard whispers in the crowd.
At that moment, representatives from the "Black Heron" guild approached, guiding Ronan's group to different rooms inside the ship.
Ronan realized those wizards on deck had tickets only allowing access above deck.
"This is your room. Call us anytime for assistance; someone will be ready to serve you."
A spry young apprentice led Ronan to a room near the ship's top, better positioned than any accompanying Ring wizard, indicating Kosti had purchased a top-tier ticket for him.
"Thank you."
"You're welcome."
After the guide left, Ronan entered the room.
More spacious than expected, with ample light and fast-moving clouds and scenery visible outside.
The room had a simple isolating rune array, which Ronan activated, then began assembling another rune array using components Kosti had given him.
Most components were crystal stones and metal alloys, and assembly was straightforward. Following the blueprint, he positioned the components, placed a magic stone in the power slot, and guided it with a bit of mental power to fully activate the array.
Encompassing half the room, the activated rune array's pale blue energy field seeped into the floor, leaving no blind spots.
A second-level array, its main function was spell protection and blocking mental and general detection spells.
A high-level magic stone powered the array for a day and a half; replacing it when exhausted sufficed.
Kosti had provided Ronan with nearly ten thousand magic stones!
Combined with his savings, he didn't worry about the cost.
"Still feels extravagant."
Ronan glanced at the rune array glow, softly musing, "Unknowingly, I've become like a 'second generation'..."
Yet, such an array greatly enhanced his security and privacy while traveling.
After verifying the array's operation, Ronan retrieved a half-person-high metal box from his spatial ring.
He used mental power to unlock the box's rune lock, hearing a "click"... it opened, revealing a small tree about two handspans tall.
The Sacred Blood Tree seedling!
Visually similar to regular birch seedlings, the Sacred Blood Tree had a straight trunk like a sword, three branches with seven leaves in total.
The leaves, green tinged with pinkish white and nearly transparent, revealed vivid red veins, forming intricate, mysterious patterns.
Encased in a faint white rune shield, the seedling appeared vibrant and lively.
Seemingly sentient, the seven leaves gently swayed as Ronan brought it out, as if waving to him.
Benigo crafted the metal box with a simple rune shield, allowing Ronan to temporarily carry the Sacred Blood Tree seedling.
In theory, no spatial storage tool could hold living beings, but exceptionally resilient life forms could be stored briefly.
Having reached this stage, the Sacred Blood Tree barely qualified, with Benigo's protective rune array enabling short-term storage without harm.
Of course, Ronan needed to take it out regularly for air and watering.
He reached into the array shield, gently touching the Sacred Blood Tree's leaves, "playing" with it briefly.
Then, without warning, his blue eyes turned pure white, leaving only a pinprick of blue at their center.
The band holding his hair loosened, and his white hair danced without wind, his body emitting clear, dense bone and muscle sounds, growing tall and robust, white lightning bursting from his pores...
A terrifying aura emanated as he entered a "semi-demonized" state!
