Chapter 408: A Phantom Demon Heart_2

She wandered alone for more than four hundred years.

The essence of jealousy is the feeling of loneliness.

Wonderful love, sincere friendship, the respect of others, the success of a career...

First, her parents died early, forcing her to take over the company at a young age, depriving her of fun and entertainment; and when she devoted all her human energy and life to growing the company, she was betrayed and died, still very young; after she became the Son of the Moon, just as she was about to "come of age" and be accepted by her kind, she met the Shadow Demon.

For "Beyard," the Son of the Moon with all of Vinesse's memories, the Shadow Demon, as an avenger, was undoubtedly her only friend.

And perhaps the Shadow Demon was also in need of such an understanding being.

The fear of loneliness outweighed the challenge of fate. Perhaps for that reason, the two beings, who should have been locked in a fight to the death upon meeting, ultimately reached a reconciliation.

The Son of the Moon, with eternal life, gave up her own life; and the Shadow Demon, bearing the Brand of Fury, also abandoned hatred.

Perhaps the reason Vinesse could discard the Brand of Fury was that she originally had the affinity of the Brand of Jealousy. If greed is more inclined towards the material aspect, jealousy tends more towards the mental aspect.

For Vinesse, who was materially wealthy, she was always one step ahead. Yet, for that very reason, she never had a companion by her side.

Since then, the empire was destroyed and reborn. As the Shadow Demon, she traveled back and forth between the Dream Realm and the Material Realm, but all the summoners were but mediocre beings.

In the end, she had nothing left to show for it.

——Until this very moment.

"Master..."

The Night Fiend called out again, "I have arrived."

Different from the Shadow Demon's voice, always filled with malice, hers now was serene and pure.

"How do you feel?"

Aiwass, awakened from her illusionary reverie, asked, "Do you still feel any rejection?"

"Yes, quite clearly."

The Night Fiend replied.

"That's normal, the Sixth Power Level is already brushing against the world's limits. One careless move and you'll hit that 'invisible wall'... but it's also because of this that there are ways to circumvent the world's limitations."

Ligeia nodded and said from the side, "The Eternal Pope also chooses to seal a portion of her own power. She usually opts to Sleep, connecting herself with The Great Tree, using her body as the central axis of the Holy Nation."

"Too long in battle would invite 'Balance'..."

Aiwass muttered.

He could somehow feel the gradually intensifying pressure in the surrounding space, and he figuered out a basic number.

——It was about three minutes.

After three minutes of going all out with firepower, Aiwass would need to release her Night Fiend form and revert back to Night Raven; or directly switch to another Phantom Demon.

But it was enough.

Forget three minutes... For a being of the Sixth Power Level, a single instant could determine the outcome of the battle.

Just like how Meg stopped the war years ago, she actually used only two moves from start to finish.

The first move to cease firing, the second to draw boundaries.

Aiwass muttered to herself, raising her hand, "But you should be able to bypass it with another form..."

The thought connected to the Night Fiend transferred Aiwass's idea through.

The Night Fiend flapped the wings on her back, covering herself in black shadowy feathers and transforming into a beautiful black crow, which then perched on Aiwass's shoulder.

It was a magical feeling.

Even though it was just a bird, at first glance, it emitted a "beautiful" aura. Perhaps it was because there was not a speck of any other color on it, or maybe it was those eyes clear as Rubies.

Aiwass chuckled softly, tilting her head and gently touching the crow's head with her index finger.

And the Night Raven nipped lightly at Aiwass's fingertip, causing a faint smile to spread across her face.

——This child is one I have raised!

Compared to the Defiant Flame Butterfly, which was already a Superior Phantom when caught, the Night Fiend was nurtured by Aiwass herself, bite by bite. Experience new stories with My Virtual Library Empire

Looking at it obediently standing on her shoulder, Aiwass felt an inexplicable sense of accomplishment as she thought back to the rebellious and dangerous Shadow Demon.

Aiwass could vaguely feel that, even in the half-sealed form of the Night Raven, Vinesse could still wield a portion of her power.

Shadows, blood, curses... their Energy Level was probably at the third tier. Perhaps it was on par with Aiwass herself.

And perhaps because her evolution stemmed from the Shepherd's Nurturing Skill, Lily's connection to her hadn't been severed like Aiwass's covenant. Lily could still borrow a part of the shadow power from the Night Fiend, because the Shadow Demon hadn't evolved into the Flame Demon — the Night Fiend also possessed shadow attribute powers.

Only, the Night Fiend could no longer meld into the shadows as the Shadow Demon once did.

Compared to the incorporeal Shadow Demon, the Night Fiend had a physical body. That figure, resembling a statue or a puppet, was her true form.

Unfortunately, Aiwass didn't really know against what kind of enemy her Night Fiend should be deployed at present.

Or more precisely, what kind of enemy would require Aiwass to engage in combat using the Night Fiend.

This time, Aiwass called forth the Night Fiend, even employing the art of "Fusion Card" and enhanced the data by 15%.

If Aiwass chose not to switch Phantom Demons later, that 15% enhancement could remain in place. And by tomorrow, Aiwass's cooled-down Phantom Card could be used again.

If Aiwass encountered danger, she could revert to her true form for a swift resolution.

Now was not the time for battle against the Celestial Marshal. If she maintained the peak world-level strength for too long, she might collide with the Wall of Balance.
