Chapter 166: Meeting Whis
After months of effort, Whis had successfully recruited the best fighters for the tournament. Goku, Vegeta, Jiren, Frieza, Gohan, Piccolo, and Top were all prepared to train for the six months leading up to the event. With this part of the plan complete, Whis approached Beerus to deliver the news.
"The fighters are ready, my lord," Whis said, bowing slightly. "They seem quite eager to participate, though some are more motivated by their rivalry than anything else."
Beerus smirked. "Good. Let them train hard; they'll need every ounce of power when they face the Demon Lords of the Cardinal World. Speaking of which, Whis, I think it's time you come with me to visit the Cardinal World."
Whis raised an eyebrow, intrigued. "The Cardinal World? A place full of beings you've spoken so highly of? I must admit, my curiosity is piqued. But what of my duties here?"
Beerus waved his hand dismissively, already conjuring a body double of Whis. This double was identical in appearance and mannerisms, imbued with a fragment of Whis's consciousness to carry out his responsibilities seamlessly.
"This will suffice," Beerus said. "We're only going for a short visit, and this realm doesn't require constant supervision. You'll see why the Cardinal World is worth your attention."
As Beerus, Whis and Beerus Wives stepped through the shimmering portal into the Cardinal World, Whis was immediately struck by the overwhelming beauty of Beerus's personal realm. It was unlike anything Whis had ever seen in the multiverse. The landscape was a blend of divinity and nature, with glowing rivers of golden light, crystalline trees that shimmered like stars, and an ethereal sky that shifted colors in harmony with Beerus's mood.
"Impressive," Whis murmured, taking in the sight. "This is a significant departure from your old world, my lord. Your wives have certainly elevated your aesthetic sense."
Sigma smirked. "We couldn't let Beerus live in a barren wasteland anymore."
Delta added, "Everything here reflects our unity and his divine authority. This realm is a testament to what he has become."
Whis gave a small chuckle. "Indeed, I can see that. It is… fitting."
Then Beerus decided their first stop would be the gathering place of the Demon Lords. Without any warning to the lords themselves, Beerus opened a portal directly into their council chamber. As he and Whis stepped through, accompanied by Beerus's wives, the room was immediately filled with a palpable tension.
Whis followed Beerus through the portal and stepped into the council chamber of the Demon Lords. The grand hall was vast and majestic, decorated with a mixture of gothic architecture and shimmering magical energy. The air buzzed with power, a suffocating pressure that Whis found fascinating.
Seated around a massive round table were the Demon Lords, each radiating an aura of overwhelming strength.
Rimuru Tempest, at the head of the table, blinked in surprise. "Beerus? You could've sent a message first, you know."
Guy Crimson, leaning back in his seat, smirked. "And you brought a guest. Who's this, Beerus? A servant?"
Milim Nava, bouncing in her seat, exclaimed, "Ooooh, is he strong? Can I fight him?"
Luminous Valentine, the vampire queen, looked Whis up and down with a cold, calculating gaze.
Leon Cromwell gave a sharp, suspicious glance.
Draguel, the towering giant, crossed his arms, his deep voice rumbling. "What business do you have here?"
Ramiris, though tiny compared to the others, fluttered her wings excitedly. "He looks so elegant! Is he as strong as you, Beerus?"
Beerus raised a hand, silencing them. "This is Whis, my former teacher and an angel. He's here to observe and meet the Demon Lords."
Whis gave a polite bow, his smile calm. "A pleasure to meet you all. Lord Beerus has spoken of your power, and I must admit, I am intrigued by what this world has to offer."
As the introductions proceeded, Whis studied each Demon Lord in detail:
Rimuru Tempest: Whis noted Rimuru's calm yet commanding presence. "Your energy is unique," Whis remarked. "It's adaptable, almost limitless in potential. Fascinating."
Guy Crimson: The chaotic yet controlled aura of the Primordial Red drew Whis's attention. "You're full of surprises, I can tell," Whis said. Guy smirked. "Stick around. I might surprise you even more."
Milim Nava: Milim's overwhelming raw power intrigued Whis. She practically radiated energy. "Such raw strength," Whis mused. "It's like a star about to go supernova." Milim grinned. "You bet I'm strong!"
Luminous Valentine: The vampire queen's regal, composed demeanor impressed Whis. Her aura was sharp and cold like an eternal winter. "A vampire with the power of light," Whis said thoughtfully. "A curious paradox." Luminous gave a small, prideful smile.
Leon Cromwell: Leon's golden aura was sharp and calculated, reflecting his nature. Whis nodded. "Precise and efficient. I can see why Beerus respects you."
Draguel: The towering giant radiated raw, immovable strength. Whis smiled slightly. "A mountain given form. Your presence alone is impressive."
Ramiris: Though small, Ramiris carried divine energy. "Don't underestimate me!" she said, puffing her chest. Whis chuckled. "I wouldn't dream of it."
As the introductions wrapped up, Guy couldn't resist a jab at Whis. "So, you're Beerus's teacher? You don't look like much. Are you sure you're not all talk?"
Milim's eyes lit up. "Yeah! Fight him, Whis! I want to see how strong you are!"
Beerus sighed. "Guy, don't start. Whis isn't here to fight."
But Guy was already standing, his aura flaring. "Come on, angel. Show me what you've got. Or are you afraid of losing in front of us?"
Whis gave a calm smile. "I don't usually fight unless necessary. But if you insist, I'll indulge you... briefly."
The council chamber transformed into a massive arena, conjured by Beerus with a wave of his hand. The Demon Lords eagerly gathered to watch the match.
Guy's aura blazed like wildfire as he grinned. "Let's see if you're worthy of teaching someone like Beerus."
Whis, holding his staff lightly, gestured for Guy to begin. "Whenever you're ready."
Guy launched himself forward, his speed and strength shaking the arena. Whis, however, moved like a ghost, effortlessly dodging every attack.
"You're fast," Whis remarked, his tone calm. "But predictable."
Guy smirked, his attacks growing more ferocious and erratic. Whis blocked a powerful blow with a single finger, sending a shockwave that echoed through the arena.
The Demon Lords watched in awe as Whis countered Guy's most devastating attacks with minimal effort. Finally, Whis raised his staff, summoning a small but overwhelming wave of energy that stopped Guy in his tracks.
Guy, breathing heavily, stepped back and laughed. "Not bad. You're the real deal."
Whis smiled. "And you're quite formidable yourself. I can see why you're respected as a leader."
As the arena dissolved back into the council chamber, the Demon Lords were buzzing with excitement and curiosity.
Milim pouted. "I wanted to fight Whis!"
Beerus smirked. "You'll get your chance during the tournament."
Whis turned to Beerus. "This world is fascinating, my lord. The Demon Lords are unlike anything I've encountered before."
Rimuru stepped forward. "We'll be ready for your fighters, Beerus. This tournament will be an opportunity for all of us to grow stronger."
Beerus nodded. "Good. Just don't disappoint me."
As Beerus and Whis prepared to leave, the Demon Lords were left in awe of Whis's power and intrigued by the promise of the tournament. Whis, for his part, was thoroughly impressed by the strength and diversity of the Cardinal World. The upcoming clash promised to be a spectacle unlike any other.
