When a God of Destruction Was Reincarnated in Tensura:

Chapter 164: Whis

Back in the DBZ world, precisely in Beerus's world, Whis was reclining under a large tree by a peaceful river, a small cup of ice cream in hand, the spoon elegantly balanced between his fingers. His serene expression reflected his satisfaction with the day. He had spent part of the morning training Goku and Vegeta, though Goku's endless questions about Ultra Instinct and Vegeta's grumbling about rival power levels had left him needing this moment of solitude.

The river glistened under the sunlight, the gentle breeze carrying the scent of blooming flowers. Whis closed his eyes, savoring the ice cream, already thinking of his next visit to Earth to persuade Bulma to whip up another feast.

Suddenly, the tranquil atmosphere shattered. A brilliant golden light erupted in the sky, illuminating the entire area. Whis sat up abruptly, shielding his eyes from the dazzling display. He felt an overwhelming energy, ancient and divine, cascading over him in waves. The sheer intensity of the presence made even his usually calm demeanor waver.

Whis: (murmuring) "Now this is peculiar. Such energy... but it's unfamiliar."

The light began to fade, and a figure stepped forward, taller and radiating an aura of unparalleled power. Whis froze. His usually composed expression gave way to shock. The figure before him bore an uncanny resemblance to Lord Beerus, but there were distinct differences. This Beerus was more muscular, his form exuding a divine strength that surpassed anything Whis had ever encountered. His violet skin seemed to glow with celestial energy, and his eyes, once sharp and playful, now held a deeper, infinite wisdom.

Behind him stood six other beings, all radiating immense divine energy. Each carried an air of grace and power that rivaled the most potent deities Whis had ever known.

Beerus: (his voice carrying authority and amusement) "Whis, I see you've been enjoying Earth's delicacies without keeping any for me. Typical."

Whis blinked, momentarily stunned. The voice was unmistakable. Yet the power, the presence, was beyond anything he had ever associated with his former charge.

Whis: (hesitant) "M-My Lord? Is... is that truly you?"

Beerus: (smirking) "Indeed, Whis. It is I. Have I changed so much that you no longer recognize me?"

Whis stood, his usually relaxed posture replaced with one of respectful awe. He studied Beerus carefully, his mind racing to make sense of what he was seeing.

Whis: (still processing) "But... you're different. Your power... it's immeasurable. I cannot even begin to estimate it. And these beings with you—" (he gestures to the six figures) "—who are they?"

Beerus: (with a sly grin) "Allow me to introduce my wives."

Whis: (blinking in disbelief) "Wives? My Lord, you've... married? And not just one but... six?"

Beerus chuckled, clearly amused by Whis's reaction. His wives stepped forward, their presence further magnifying the divine aura surrounding them. Sigma, the serene and composed wife, inclined her head gracefully, while Mecha and Gord exuded an aura of overwhelming strength. The others followed suit, each displaying a unique charisma that left Whis momentarily speechless.

Whis: (regaining his composure) "This... this is unprecedented. I must admit, I never imagined you, of all beings, settling down. And to think, you've grown even more powerful in the process."

Beerus: (his tone turning serious) "More than you can imagine, Whis. What you see before you is the result of my ascension. I no longer hold the title of a simple Destroyer God. That was merely a stepping stone."

Whis tilted his head, curiosity shining in his eyes.

Whis: "Ascension, you say? Then, where does this place you in the grand hierarchy? Beyond Lord Zeno? Beyond the Grand Priest?"

Beerus: (calmly, but with undeniable finality) "I hold the ultimate power, Whis. To simplify it for you: it all starts and ends with me. There is nothing beyond me, for it is all within me. Reality itself bends to my will. A thought is all it takes to shape existence as I see fit."

The words hung in the air, their weight palpable. For the first time in his long existence, Whis felt truly dwarfed. Even his father, the Grand Priest, or the Omni-King Zeno paled in comparison to the being standing before him.

Whis: (his voice quiet) "That... would explain why I couldn't gauge your power. You've transcended everything I know. My Lord, you've surpassed even the concept of power itself."

Beerus nodded, a faint smile playing on his lips.

Beerus: "Precisely. I no longer belong to the hierarchies you once knew. I am beyond them. However, I've not come here to boast."

Whis raised an eyebrow, intrigued.

As the conversation shifted, Beerus's expression grew more serious, a subtle shift that signaled he was about to divulge something of greater importance. Whis, sensing the change, straightened slightly, his casual demeanor fading as curiosity took over.

Beerus: (leaning forward) "There is something else I must share with you, Whis. Something that might explain my journey...

Whis tilted his head, intrigued, his attention fully captured. He could tell that this revelation would not be something trivial. Beerus had been through a tremendous transformation, far beyond the power of a typical Destroyer God. But what was this new information? What could possibly surpass the unimaginable power Beerus had already displayed?

Whis: "I'm listening, my Lord."

Beerus let out a long breath, looking out into the distance for a moment as if collecting his thoughts.

Beerus: "My old body, the one you knew—the lazy, indifferent Beerus—it's still in my room, resting as if nothing has changed. I left it there on purpose."

Whis blinked, surprised by the revelation.

Whis: "You... left it there? But why? Is it not unusual for a god of your caliber to simply leave their mortal form behind, especially when your power has evolved so dramatically?"

Beerus's lips curled into a faint smile, though it was more knowing than playful.

Beerus: "It was a necessary deception. I needed the universe to believe I was still... inactive. That my power was still contained in the form of a mere Destroyer God. It helped in keeping the peace, making the other gods think I was still under the control of certain limitations."

Whis's brows furrowed as he processed this information. The complexities of divine politics were never simple, but Beerus had always operated outside of conventional boundaries. It was a characteristic Whis had come to expect from him, but this was a new level of strategic thinking.

Whis: "You deceived the gods themselves and even me. That's quite the move. And here I thought you were just a destroyer who enjoyed sleeping and eating."

Beerus chuckled darkly, his eyes glimmering with a hidden depth of experience.

Beerus: "I did what I had to.

Whis: "And what of Veldanava? I sense there's more to this story than just hiding your power."

At the mention of Veldanava, Beerus's expression shifted again, this time to one of somber reflection. He leaned back slightly, as though weighing how much of his personal journey he was willing to share.

Beerus: "Veldanava... the one who guided me through my ascension. He was the one who chose me to be his successor."

Whis's eyes widened. For as long as he had known Beerus, he had never once heard him speak of Veldanava with such reverence.

Whis: "Veldanava? You were his successor?"

Beerus: (nodding) "Yes. It was a pivotal moment in my existence. You see, Veldanava was the one who granted me the true understanding of what I was becoming. He saw the potential in me, far beyond what even I could grasp at the time. He gave me his knowledge, his wisdom, his power, and most importantly, his purpose."

Whis watched as Beerus spoke, sensing the weight of the words.

Whis: "And with that, you became something greater. But why did he choose you? Was there a specific reason? Was it only about power?"

Beerus: "No. It wasn't just about power, Whis. It was about understanding balance, about being the force that ensures the universe remains in its proper place. Veldanava knew that there had to be someone who could wield not just power, but the wisdom and responsibility to shape reality as it should be."

As Whis stood there, still processing the immense shift in Beerus's power and his newly acquired role, Beerus waved a hand dismissively, signaling the end of the current topic. He could see the curiosity burning in Whis's eyes, but there was something else on his mind, something he wanted to discuss next.

Beerus: "Now, Whis, before you continue asking questions about my transformation or the Cardinal World, I have a question for you. What's been happening while I've been... gone? Any noteworthy events you should update me on?"

Whis, who had been somewhat lost in thought, refocused and blinked, surprised by the sudden change in direction. He wasn't used to being caught off-guard by his master's questioning, but he quickly nodded, tapping into his vast knowledge of recent events.

Whis: "Ah, well, Lord Beerus, there have been a few developments in your absence. The Saiyan warriors—Goku, Vegeta, and even Gohan—have been growing stronger, as usual. They've been training relentlessly, especially with the looming threats from the multiverse. There's also been an uptick in battles between certain factions in the Universe—power struggles, mostly, but nothing that's escalated into a real conflict.

Beerus listened intently, nodding as Whis recounted the events, but his mind was already drifting back to his own plans. He had something bigger in mind, something that would serve not only as a challenge to the strongest beings in existence but as a reminder of his power and control. His desire for something more grandiose had been growing for some time.

Beerus: "Well, that's interesting...but I'm planning a different kind of tournment."

Whis: "What do you mean, my lord? A different kind of tournament?"

Beerus: (nodding with a slight grin) "Exactly. I've been thinking a lot about the tournament and the strength of the beings I've encountered. I have a plan to bring together some of the strongest entities in existence. This tournament will be more than just a mere test of strength."

Whis: "And who, pray tell, do you plan on including in this tournament? Goku and Vegeta are strong, but surely you're thinking beyond that. Who else do you have in mind?"

Beerus chuckled, the amusement clear in his voice.

Beerus: "Oh, much more than them, Whis. You see, back in the Cardinal World, there are beings far beyond anything you've seen. The Demon Lords, for instance. Powerful, ancient entities who, though they've been kept in check, hold an immense amount of potential. They're a unique breed of power—prideful, strong-willed, and ready to challenge anyone. They're not your typical warriors, but that makes them all the more intriguing."

Whis's eyes widened slightly, a flicker of surprise crossing his face.

Whis: "Demon Lords, you say? I've never heard of such beings... Are they as formidable as you claim?"

Beerus smirked, enjoying Whis's curiosity. He was still processing the information at a rapid pace.

Beerus: "Oh, they are. Trust me. I've encountered them. They're beings who rule entire regions of the Cardinal World. This tournament I'm planning will serve as a reminder of who holds true power, and how little they know of it."

Whis: "So, you're not just arranging a tournament for show? This is about something more than simply testing strength. It's about demonstrating control, isn't it?"

Beerus: (nodding) "Exactly. This is about setting boundaries. Showing the Demon Lords—and anyone else who might dare to challenge the established order—that they are nothing more than pawns. And not only will they fight each other, but I'll also be inviting some of the strongest beings from different universes—Goku, Vegeta, Piccolo, Jiren, Frieza. A mixture of power, pride, and strategy.

Whis: "Very well, my lord. I'll begin preparations on my end. But before I go, is there anything else you'd like to discuss regarding the tournament or the future?"

Beerus paused, his expression turning thoughtful. He'd laid out his plans for the tournament, and now he needed to turn his attention to the next phase.

Beerus: "No, for now, I think we've covered everything. Just make sure the fighters are prepared. The tournament will be a test of more than just physical strength—it'll be a test of their will to survive."

With that, Whis nodded in acknowledgment and vanished, leaving Beerus alone with his thoughts. Beerus could feel the excitement building within him as he considered the tournament, the entertainment it would bring. The Cardinal World would be in for a rude awakening, and Beerus couldn't wait to see who would rise to the occasion.
