Chapter 103: SomeWhere In The Cardinal world
Guy sat back on his icy throne, his crimson eyes glowing faintly in the dim, frigid light of his palace. His emotions were a mixture of annoyance and intrigue after his brief encounter with Beerus.
He knew better than to let his irritation linger—Beerus wasn't someone to provoke without dire consequences. Still, the fact that the deity had taken such a vested interest in Rimuru annoyed him.
Guy (muttering to himself): "Tch… 'part of his bigger plan,' huh? Beerus is always meddling. But what could be so special about a slime?"
Before he could dive deeper into his thoughts, the massive double doors to his throne room burst open, the sound echoing through the palace. Milim Nava, as unpredictable and full of energy as ever, came bounding in.
Milim (excitedly): "Guy! Guy! I heard something amazing! It's true, right? Rimuru's coming to Walpurgis? And you're going to invite him to join our group?!"
Her childlike glee filled the room, and Guy rubbed his temples in exasperation, though he couldn't help but smirk slightly.
Guy (annoyed): "Yes, Milim. He's coming. I've already sent him an invitation, and he accepted it. No need to barge in like a hurricane just to ask."
Milim practically bounced with excitement, her pink hair bouncing as she twirled in place.
Milim: "Yay! This is going to be so much fun! I've been itching for a good fight, and Rimuru sounds like the perfect opponent!"
Guy's expression darkened slightly, and he shot her a sharp look.
Guy (sternly): "Easy there, Milim. You better not try to kill him. Your father has taken an interest in Rimuru."
Milim stopped mid-bounce, her excitement giving way to curiosity. She tilted her head, her eyes—narrowing slightly.
Milim: "Father? Really? Huh… what's he up to this time?"
Guy: "I don't know exactly. All he said was that Rimuru is part of his bigger plan, but he doesn't mind if Rimuru joins the Abyssal Lords. Whatever that means."
Milim crossed her arms and began pacing, her energy shifting into focused thought, though her usual playful demeanor remained.
Milim (muttering): "Father's always scheming something big. But if he's interested in Rimuru, then that slime must really be something special."
Guy leaned back in his throne, a faint grin forming on his face.
Guy: "Special doesn't even begin to cover it. First, he wipes out three of our fellow Demon Lords—Clayman, Frey, and Carrion—at once. Then he takes out the Moderate Harlequin Alliance. And now Beerus has his eye on him. Things are getting more interesting by the minute."
Milim spun on her heel to face Guy, her grin matching his.
Milim: "You're right! Life's been so boring lately. But now we've got Rimuru, the tournaments, and Father getting involved. It's so exciting! I can't wait to see what happens next!"
Guy chuckled, shaking his head.
Guy: "Neither can I, Milim. Neither can I."
In the Holy Empire of Ruberios, deep within a secret chamber bathed in soft, ethereal light, Luminous Valentine lay on a lavish bed. The air was scented with faint lavender, but her mind was anything but calm. She rested her head on her hand, her long silver hair cascading over her bare shoulders, her heterochromatic eyes—one black, one purple—staring at nothing in particular. She was draped in a silken sheet, her half-dressed state betraying her restless thoughts.
The recent events weighed heavily on her mind. Her most trusted subordinate, Hinata Sakaguchi, had been utterly defeated by Rimuru. And not just defeated—humiliated. It wasn't just Hinata either. The reports coming in were nothing short of extraordinary.
Luminous (to herself): "A slime… A mere slime, reborn into this world, becomes a Demon Lord out of nowhere. And then he eliminates Clayman, Frey, and Carrion as if they were nothing."
Her hand tightened into a fist, and she bit her lower lip. The thought of such overwhelming power existing outside her awareness was unsettling.
Luminous: "Who are you, Rimuru? How did you become so strong? And how is it that no one, not even Hinata, sensed your presence before all of this?"
She sat up, the sheet slipping slightly, though she paid it no mind. Her gaze was sharp, her golden eye glowing faintly in the dim light.
Luminous: "But… you chose not to kill Hinata. Why? Was it pity? Mercy? Or something more calculated?"
Despite herself, Luminous felt a faint smile tugging at her lips.
Luminous: "Perhaps… you're not as monstrous as you seem. But that only makes you more dangerous. A Demon Lord with both strength and restraint. Hmph, fascinating."
She leaned back against the pillows, her mind racing.
Luminous (murmuring): "This Walpurgis… perhaps it will shed more light on you, Rimuru Tempest. If nothing else, it will be entertaining to watch the others scramble to understand you."
Her fingers traced the edge of a glass of wine on the bedside table as she considered her next move.
Luminous: "You're someone I can't afford to make an enemy of, Rimuru. But… I wonder. Could you be an ally? Or are you destined to be something far more complicated?"
She took a sip of the wine, savoring the taste as she allowed herself a small smirk.
Luminous: "Well, one thing's for certain. You've made life much more… interesting."
