Chapter 556: Family Time (1)
With the statement I just made filling the minds of my many mothers, it was clear to see just how confused they were. After all, I basically told them I had been incubating for centuries… At least that's what they thought. However, thankfully Ji Yao and Zhu Qing were in this group with some of the children napping on their bodies as well.
"Wait, how is that possible? Sister Su Yan wasn't pregnant back when I first met her and Yang Kai…" Qiu Ye Meng asked with a clearly confused look on her face. "Was I really that obstinate back then? I know I was in love, but that shouldn't have blinded me that much…" She continued, worried about her own ineptitude.
"Pfft, there's no need to worry about that. If anything it should have made you more sensitive to such things." Xiu Che giggled, enjoying her place in my lap.
"That's right. I've been with big Sister Su Yan for a long time now. And I can confirm she wasn't pregnant until we all were. So it's something different than how we normally think of conception." Zhu Qing added an explanation.
"We've already heard the story. So it isn't as surprising to us." Ji Yao added, softening the blow. "Honestly we were surprised by how he was born. But he is here, and Su Yan is definitely his mother." She continued, ending her additions since the story was meant to be told by someone other than her.
"I see, I heard the story from all of you. So I'm not questioning if he is our son. It's just shocking that's the time it began." Qiu Ye Meng said, wondering about it even more.
"Well, to be fair… When I say conception here, I mean the idea of child rearing. So I wasn't exactly created by then. Honestly, had I been… The story of my father's life would be very different. I even doubt that the demon race would have managed to do well, anything in the face of my abilities…" I said with a confident yet warm smile. "Rather, if I were to go back to the very beginning of the concept of my existence… I'd have to say it transcends the inheritors of the two sources Mother and Father possess. So in a sense the moment the two of them inherited those I could have been born at any point from then on. It's just that too many issues got in the way." I chuckled.
"Sorry about that… I'm sure I was part of at least one of those." Qiu Ye Meng apologized with a nervous laugh, nearly downing her tea like it was wine.
"No need to worry. I'm not bothered by it. And the only one who really would need such a thing is my mother. She's the one who wanted a child for so long. However, I'm sure she's fine now." I said, in an attempt to calm the nervousness that sprung up. "Now then… Since that's out of the way. Allow me to regale you with the tales of my past…" I glanced over to the side where several others were eagerly watching. "Of course my brothers and sisters are allowed to listen as well. But I won't let them lest they come join us in comfort." I smirked, teleporting the young children over, all were the young offspring of my in-laws, naturally they'd be curious about their big brother.
The minutes turned to hours as I continued regaling the stories of my past. I of course left out some of the more disturbing details when my younger relatives were awake. They were each rather interested and extremely attentive. Occasionally they'd ask questions. Since the story was a long one to say the least, the story could only be told over the course of several days. One day…
"Big brother? Why didn't Uncle Yang just take care of the bad guys himself? Wouldn't that have saved all that suffering?" Xiu Ding Ai asked, her innocent and curious face filled with bright curiosity.
I paused for a moment… To be fair she had a point. However, there was more to it than just to save the people from suffering. But since it's a difficult concept to grasp for someone so young… If she can understand this her cultivation will soar.
"Well, I'll admit, you are correct about the suffering. Had my father acted to prevent such things there would have been nothing any of the evil guys could have done. Let alone the remnants of the great demon god." I started, pausing to see the reaction. "However, once one becomes a high rank open heaven realm, they are free to choose the rules in their own small universe to some degree. Even so, there are some immutable laws that must be followed. Even I am still bound by a few of them. But the main one is, that the people must make their own way in the world and deal with the problems at their level by their own hands." I explained, starting to ease into the explanation. "There are a few things I can do, like making an array that produces those fertility pills. However, the people must still work to bring the resources required for the recipe. In this, I manage to get an ever improving populous of people, all eager for improvement. As such they develop the story of their lives on their power." I continued.
"So, it's the same principle, just with different environments? Then there really wasn't anything he should have done…" Xiu Ding Ai replied seemingly understanding things well enough.
"Well, it's likely that he did do something. My surrogate mother is what allowed me to come into the world, and eventually take down the final remnants of my father's past villains. Ones he had left in the dust in terms of strength. So much so that it would go against his dao to fight against." I said, patting Xiu Ding Ai on her head. "So through me, my father did what needed to be done. And now, his cultivation has improved by leaps and bounds. Besides, not mentioning everything else. Had the events been different, you may not be here now. All things are interconnected. Remember this and hold on to that knowledge, it may save your life one day." I finished saying.
