VOIDBLADE: THE LAST SWORD OF THE END

Chapter 40: Chapter 41:The gathering storm 2

Dawn broke over Briarstead County, its light spilling across fields scarred by conflict and neglect. The wind carried the scent of ash and distant blood — a fitting omen for the day ahead.

At the heart of a shadowed grove, Jin's forces gathered in silence. They were a patchwork of fighters — rogue mercenaries, disillusioned soldiers, and players drawn by whispers of power and ambition. They stood in loose ranks, eyes gleaming with anticipation and fear.

Void God stood apart from them, cloaked in stillness. The void within him pulsed in rhythm with his slow breaths, a constant reminder of what lay ahead. He felt the weight of the Abyssal Core — not a burden, but a promise.

Jin approached, armored in obsidian and lightning. His eyes sparkled with the thrill of impending battle. "They've gathered at Blackstone Ridge," he reported. "Two hundred troops, just like Serah said. Plus the players."

Void God tilted his head. "And the lords?"

"Heska's confirmed. Malgrin… not yet." Jin's mouth twisted. "Probably watching from the sidelines, the coward."

"Let him watch," Void God said. "He'll see what's coming for him."

A rustle in the underbrush signaled Serah's approach. "Scouts report their forces are settling in. No signs they expect an attack."

Jin grinned. "Perfect."

Void God turned to the gathered fighters. "Today, we cleanse this land," he said, his voice soft but carrying. "The lords have ruled through greed and fear. They've bled Briarstead dry. That ends now."

A murmur ran through the crowd.

"Strike hard. Strike without mercy. And when the dust settles — this land will be ours."

Jin raised his weapon, lightning dancing along its edge. "For the Ascendancy!"

The cry echoed through the grove.

The storm was coming. And they would be its fury.
