Chapter 525: Trapped in Dark Tomb
Team A: Barry Burton's Team.
Barry Burton felt a strange resonance from his necklace. ' This…It feels like a strong treasure is nearby. I wonder what it could be?'
" This… I feel like a ziggurat pyramid." Nathan looked at the passageway leading to the underground and mumbled.
" Mr. Nathan, You sound very knowledgeable." Barry spoke.

" You can say my family has a long history in the field of archeology. We encounter such tombs quite often." Nathan spoke with some pride.
" Actually, He is saying half true." Luke mumbled in Barry's ears. " It's just that there is another shade behind their profession."
" What is it?" Barry became curious.
" They are Tomb Raiders."
Barry's expression turned slightly of disgust when he heard that. But then, he realized it wasn't his own thought.
' Ah, I guess being merged with the memories of the Reinher Family, I also look down on such shady things as they desecrate the dead.'
As they arrived in the first underground floor, they found nothing but a vast expanse of space.
" The air feels surprisingly clean. They must have some sort of advanced ventilation system here." Nathan spoke as he illuminated the walls.
" As you can see, it must be created by the followers of God of Radiance. The paintings depicted the olden day lifestyle."
" So, That's it? Nothing special?" Luke spoke with a frown.
" Of course, It's nothing special." Nathan nodded. " It's because it's here to distract us."
" You can travel all around here and what will you find? Some broken pots, a fake coffin? The first floor is a trap to distract the excavators."
Suddenly, Nathan stopped at a place and started to touch across the wall, as if he was looking for something.
" Aha! Here it is!"
*RUMBLE! RUMBLE!*
Suddenly, the entire place rumbled.
" Oh no! The main gate! It's closing!"
" Don't be afraid!" Nathan shouted as everyone panicked when the main entrance slowly closed with a stone gate.
" Don't you know? When one door closes, another opens?"
Nathan laughed as he pointed at a direction. Everyone were shocked when they saw a door appeared seemingly out of nowhere, leading another staircase to the downstairs.
" Mr. Nathan, I understand what you mean. However, If the main door is closed, how are we going to go out?" Luke's voice turned serious.
" Why are you being so afraid?" Nathan snorted. " Such a place filled with dozens of doors and layouts. There would be probably more than one way to the outside."
" Not to mention, did we bring explosives just for the show?" Nathan turned around and walked towards the newly opened door.
" Now, Better not waste time in idle chat and follow my instructions."
Luke shut up instantly and gestured for everyone to follow Nathan. But as they just arrived at the floor below, Barry suddenly unsheathed his sword.
" Everyone! Be careful! I feel something amiss!"
" Huh? What do you mean? Nathan was annoyed, but Luke suddenly yanked him back.
*HISSSP!*
Suddenly, a large centipede fell from the dark ceiling, landing where Nathan was standing. It was at least three feet long and thicker than a man's arms.
" Ghost Painted Centipede." Nathan's expression darkened. " Everyone, Get ready with your weapons. These things are venomous as fuck."
*BANG! BANG!*
Luke pulled out a glock and shot that centipede. With a squeak, the centipede burst into a few pieces.
" Hah, These things look quite disgusting!" A man chuckled as he walked towards the struggling remains of the centipede.
Barry's eyes narrowed as he shouted. " Be careful!"
But it was too late.
The centipede's body moved as it stung that person.
" AHHHH!"
" You fool! It still has nervous movements after its death!" Nathan cursed as he saw the man falling on the ground. Within a few seconds, his veins already turned black.
" Damn it! Let me help him!"
" No one can help him." Nathan stopped Luke. " It's his own fault."
" Not to mention, we have company here."
Suddenly, creepy sounds of insect crawling echoed across the narrow passageway.
" Be careful!"
Barry pulled out his sword and stabbed it into a crack in the wall. A burst of green blood splashed out as he pulled out the head of a centipede.
" They live in a group! Use fire and weapons to deal with them!" Nathan shouted.

Team B, Gary Watson.
" Haha! To think we will find a resident room inside this pyramid." Professor Johnson was elated. " Damn, Gary, I didn't know your navigation skills were so good."
" I am just lucky, Professor. We still need you to decode the things here."
Gary Watson didn't have hunches like Barry Burton. However, he managed to get some advantages from his Future Diary.
' From last few days, I have been constantly asking questions regarding this tomb. At least I found some general clues and hints regarding this.'
' First was to follow the crimson river painting and find the hidden room at the end of it.'
' Second, Beware of the places where you see blue tiles on the floor.'
" This room is probably created for the workers to stay during the building of the tomb." Johnson spoke as he studied the room.
It was spacious, divided into smaller sub rooms. It was littered with rotten wooden furnitures and some other appliances. As they opened a few chests, they found a few old books and tattered clothes.
" Looks like they were the serfs from the Church of Radiance."
" Maybe we can get some clues regarding the layout of the tomb."
" Huh? What's this?"
" My goodness! It looks like the floor plan of the floor below us!" Johnson shouted loudly.
" What? Really?"
" That's a jackpot!"
Gary thought for a moment. " But Professor, How many floors are within this tomb?"
" This…" Profesor Johnson came to his senses for a moment. " Such places should have four floors maximum. I guess we only have to go through two more floors?"
" But be careful, The deeper we go, the lesser the oxygen will be."
" Thankfully, we have two oxygen tanks for the emergency." Gary smiled.
As they moved forward in the maze like tomb, suddenly, Gary's expression changed.
" Wait! Don't approach that door."
" Huh? Why? There is nothing."
" Professor, Don't listen to this brat." A person spoke with an impatient voice. " That door probably leads to the resources room. Maybe we can find some gold and jewelry there!"
" No! Don't!"
Gary shouted, but that man stepped on one of the blue tiles on the floor.
Suddenly, blue tiles lit across the floor as small cubic holes opened on the both side of the walls.
" Everyone! It's a trap! Beware!"
*BZZZ! BZZZZTZ!"
With a loud buzzing noise, beetles slowly crawled out from the holes.
" Damn it! What are these?" The man was scared as he pulled out a machete and tried to slash the beetles.
However, the thumb sized beetles swarmed him like an inky tide.
" AARGH! SAVE ME! SAVE MEEEE!"
The scream of that man echoed as everyone saw how a healthy man suddenly turned into a pile of clean bones within a dozen of seconds.
And even after that, the bones turned into desserts in the beetles' belly.
" Those…Those are Corpse Eating Scarabs." The professor spoke with a trembling voice.
" Everyone, Take out your flames and burn them!"

Team 3.
" Leader!"
" Ugh, To think we will directly enter the hall of undead skeletons!"
" An evil spell is active here. Just break the spines of these skeletons."
The group of evil mages looked at a hoard of rattling skeleton soldiers as they got ready to fight.

In the center of the tomb.
" Hmm, So many intruders have entered my place." The lich rubbed his chin as he felt disturbance from various floors.
" That person wasn't lying to me at all!"
" Then, Let me prepare everyone for what's coming next."
Pulling out his staff, he slammed it on the ground. The entire place buzzed as purple runes spread across the wall.
" Welcome to my death palace! Kakakaka!"
