Villain: Gouging Out the Heroine’s Spiritual Eyes at the Beginning

Chapter 5

Chapter 5: Vows of Eternal Love, Fragile as Glass:

Seeing Qin Yang hesitate, Shen Yuan pressed further.

“It seems that once you’re blind, your beloved Qin Yang will find you a burden. You Ruo, why are you standing there? Get on with it.”

Qin Yang froze, stunned. He hadn’t expected Shen Yuan to be serious.

Was he truly going to gouge out Shen Xiao’er’s eyes?

Where had things gone wrong?

Wasn’t Shen Yuan her childhood companion?

Hadn’t he always been indulgent toward her?

Why was he suddenly determined to take her eyes?

“Brother Shen Yuan… You can’t do this to me,” Shen Xiao’er pleaded desperately. “You were always so kind to me when we were children. Whatever I wanted, you would get it for me. That time it snowed, I said I wanted candied hawthorn, and you braved the blizzard to buy it for me…”

“Oh, so you know I’ve been good to you? And this is how you repay the Shen family? You Ruo, do it.” Shen Yuan’s voice was calm

You Ruo raised the gleaming silver dagger without hesitation.

“As it is my master’s command, Miss Xiao’er, please don’t hold it against me.”

“Stop this, Patriarch Shen!” Pei Duan interjected in panic.

“Xiao Pei,” Shen Yuan replied evenly, “this is a Shen family matter. Though we are brothers, you should know better than to overstep. I don’t meddle in your family affairs, do I?”

“This…”

Pei Duan knew it was improper to interfere in another family’s internal matters, but he couldn’t stand by and watch the woman he loved have her eyes gouged out.

“Stop! Stop this right now!” Qin Yang shouted, his voice filled with desperation. Two Shen family disciples had pinned Shen Xiao’er to the ground, while You Ruo approached with the dagger, her expression cold and unfeeling.

At the same time, another pair of disciples restrained Qin Yang, preventing him from moving.

A bloodcurdling scream pierced the air as Shen Xiao’er’s eyes were forcibly gouged out.

She writhed on the ground in agony, her world of vibrant colors replaced by impenetrable darkness.

Qin Yang stood frozen, his mind blank.

Shen Yuan had actually gone through with it—before he could even react, Shen Xiao’er’s eyes were gone.

You Ruo’s efficiency was chilling. She handled the task with the ease of a seasoned butcher, swiftly removing the pair of sapphire-like spirit eyes. Despite being drenched in blood, the eyes remained intact and undamaged.

With the Shen family’s secret techniques and rare treasures, these eyes could soon be transplanted to another host.

As for Shen Xiao’er, the empty sockets where her eyes once were now bled profusely, staining her pale face.

Though You Ruo had used spiritual energy to stop the bleeding, Shen Xiao’er’s trembling hands blindly groped at the air.

“Qin Yang… I can’t see. I can’t see anything!” she cried, her voice filled with terror.

Qin Yang roared, “Shen Yuan! You devil! She’s your cousin! How could you do something so inhumane?”

Ignoring Qin Yang’s outburst, Shen Yuan carefully placed the pair of Thousand Illusion Spirit Eyes into a container and raised it high.

“Listen well, everyone. This is the fate of those who betray the Shen family. Let Shen Xiao’er serve as a warning. Should anyone else act disloyally, they will meet the same end.”

“Brother Shen Yuan—no, Patriarch Shen, I was wrong! Please, return my eyes! I don’t want to be blind!”

Shen Yuan smiled faintly. “You’ve done nothing wrong. After all, pursuing true love is never a mistake. Isn’t that right? Since you’re so in love with Qin Yang, I’ll let him marry you. You can be a perfect couple.”

Turning to Qin Yang, he added mockingly, “Qin Yang, do you want to marry her? Say the word, and I’ll approve.”

Qin Yang stood there, speechless.

“Qin Yang, answer me! Say something!” Shen Xiao’er cried, her voice trembling with desperation. Unable to see, she could only hope for the reassurance of his words.

“I… I… don’t want to marry her. I can’t!” Qin Yang finally stammered.

Qin Yang, destined to rise to the pinnacle of the world, to slaughter enemies and topple gods, couldn’t afford the burden of a blind woman. The women who stayed by his side needed to be extraordinary, each with unique value. They had to possess rare physiques, astonishing cultivation talent, or powerful identities, like saintesses of great sects or empresses of mighty empires. Even if they lacked status, they would still need some remarkable ability—such as the Thousand Illusion Spirit Eyes or another invaluable asset.

He could never accept a woman who had nothing to offer.

“Qin Yang, you can’t abandon me! I’m blind, my family has disowned me, and now even you…” Shen Xiao’er’s voice broke into sobs.

“I… I’m sorry, but I just can’t…” Qin Yang admitted, his voice filled with guilt.

How could he marry a blind woman?

Without the Thousand Illusion Spirit Eyes, Shen Xiao’er was no longer of any use to him.

If his master discovered he had taken such a burden, he might even be expelled from his sect.

Hearing his words, Shen Xiao’er felt her entire world collapse into ice-cold despair.

“Even you… Even you…” she murmured, tears streaming down her blood-streaked face.

Shen Yuan’s voice cut through the silence, calm yet scathing. “So, it seems your so-called love was nothing but an illusion. All those vows of eternal devotion, all those moonlit nights—just fleeting acts in a hollow performance.”

Looking at the gathered members of the Shen family, Shen Yuan declared, “Let this be a lesson to you all. This is what comes of misplaced love, fragile and worthless.”
