Chapter 21: CH: 21 You will have to work a lifetime for me
{Chapter: 21 You will have to work a lifetime for me}
Lin Yuan soon arrived in front of the cake shop in his sleek, fast Lamborghini.
As he stepped out of the car, his eyes landed on a shy, slender figure standing outside. It was Qiu Wanxi.
She had spotted Lin Yuan as well, but she hesitated, unsure of how to approach him. Her voice was caught in her throat, and she simply stood there, staring at him.
Lin Yuan flashed her a warm smile and waved.
"I didn't keep you waiting long, did I?" he asked, his voice light and easy.
It was just 11:50, a good ten minutes before the appointment time they had set the day before—no doubt Qiu Wanxi had arrived early.
"Um... I came a little early," she answered softly, her voice tinged with shyness.
The truth, however, was that Qiu Wanxi had been waiting there for almost an hour.
The previous night, she had struggled to sleep. Every time she closed her eyes, Lin Yuan's face seemed to appear before her, his words echoing in her ears. She replayed his actions, his expressions, over and over again, unable to get him out of her mind.
"Ahh...!" she yawned deeply, exhausted from the lack of rest.
Lin Yuan chuckled and gently ran his fingers through her hair, "Those dark circles under your eyes make you look like a little panda. What kept you up so late?"
Qiu Wanxi closed her eyes at the comforting touch, a soft warmth spreading through her. But when she heard Lin Yuan's words, her face turned beet red. She couldn't bring herself to tell him that she had spent the whole night thinking about him.
"This is for you," Lin Yuan said, holding out a stunning sapphire necklace.
"Ah! It's too much... I can't accept this," Qiu Wanxi protested, instinctively shaking her head as she looked at the necklace. It was clear that it was far more valuable than anything she had ever owned.
Lin Yuan smiled reassuringly. "Your rejection is invalid. This is my way of apologizing for being late. It's of little importance to me. Just wear it." His tone was firm, yet kind.
Without waiting for her to respond, he reached out and effortlessly placed the necklace around her neck.
Qiu Wanxi blinked, a little stunned by how easily he did it. She had grown used to Lin Yuan's "overbearing" style, the way he would insist on doing things his way, regardless of her protests. Even though she had verbally refused, she felt a strange sweetness in her heart as she let him do it.
"Let's head inside and take a look at the shop. You'll be the owner of this place from now on," Lin Yuan said, his voice filled with encouragement.
He gently guided Qiu Wanxi into the cake shop, and she followed him without hesitation.
As they entered, two young women standing by the door greeted them with a respectful bow. "Good day, Young Master."
Lin Yuan nodded and led Qiu Wanxi further into the shop.
Yesterday, Lin Yuan had purchased the cake shop outright. The two girls were his staff, and now they stood ready to serve.
The shop itself was not overly large, but its decoration was elegant, and the cakes were arranged neatly in display cases, each one looking more perfect than the last. Qiu Wanxi couldn't believe her eyes. The shop was everything she had ever dreamed of—no, it surpassed her wildest imaginations.
After showing Qiu Wanxi around, Lin Yuan led her to a table and ordered two cups of milk tea for them.
Once seated, Qiu Wanxi broke the silence. "Master Lin, I can't manage this store... I only want to be your friend, not take over a business like this."
Though she feared Lin Yuan might be upset, she couldn't accept such a generous gift. Her heart ached at the thought of taking it, and she couldn't help but feel uneasy.
Lin Yuan gave her a knowing smile. "Who said I was just giving it to you? Didn't I explain everything clearly yesterday?"
"Eh?" Qiu Wanxi blinked, taken aback by his words.
With that, Lin Yuan handed her a business contract. She hesitantly took it and began reading through the terms. The more she read, the more she felt at ease.
"As per the contract, I'm lending you the store, valued at 5.5 million, along with 500,000 as startup capital," he explained casually.
"If the business doesn't succeed, I'll take the store and the loan back. But if it does well, you'll pay me back double, plus 45% of the ownership." He grinned. "It's not a gift, you know."
Qiu Wanxi paused, her heart fluttering as she processed his words. Lin Yuan was right—he wasn't just giving her the store. It was a loan, with terms that gave her room to grow.
Her anxiety softened, but she still had one worry. "But, Master Lin, if I fail... I won't have the money to pay you back," she said, her voice filled with uncertainty.
Lin Yuan looked at her, his expression gentle yet firm. He pinched her cheeks playfully. "Don't worry. I have plenty of jobs available. If things don't work out, you'll work for me for the rest of your life."
His teasing words, and the warmth of his hand on her face, made her entire face turn red, all the way to the tips of her ears. Her heart raced as she tried to hide the blush creeping up her neck.
"I believe in your plan, and I think it'll succeed," Lin Yuan said, giving her head another affectionate stroke. "So go ahead, little boss Wanxi. Sign it."
Qiu Wanxi hesitated for a moment, her fingers trembling slightly as she held the pen. Then, with a quiet sigh, she signed the contract.
Her dream had always been right in front of her, but now it was within her grasp. She had realized that when Lin Yuan set his mind to something, there was little chance of changing it. If he said she was going to be the boss, then that's exactly what she would be.
And the most important part was that this also meant she would get to see Lin Yuan regularly, helping him with his work, and being close to him in a way she had never imagined.
With a small, content smile, Qiu Wanxi signed the document, feeling both nervous and excited about the future.
