Chapter 355 Salty Taste
Although it might not be nice to say, Yong Yi's death indeed saved Ma Lu a lot of trouble.
If he were still alive, Ma Lu would have had to consider the possibility of him causing more trouble after his departure.
Now that Yong Yi was truly at peace, Ma Lu could leave here with ease and head to the next plane.
Of course, before leaving, he didn't forget to pull off one last big job, vigorously hoarding stock, but that would have to wait for the return of the Hellhound and the Ouroboros Serpent.
Taking advantage of the spare time he had, Ma Lu went to retrieve his power armor, then found a bag to wrap up Yong Yi's body. He carried it outside the city to burn it.
Given Yong Yi's personality, he probably didn't care about having a grave. Besides, the morally wrong things he did weren't worth being remembered by posterity, so Ma Lu didn't trouble himself further; he just watched as Yong Yi's ashes were blown away.
After finishing this task, Ma Lu also took over Yong Yi's office and found a hardware store in the city to have the glass reinstalled.
He also moved Li Wei's unwanted little bar up there.
Sitting in front of the newly installed glass curtain wall, Ma Lu sipped liquor and overlooked the city below. He suddenly remembered that Holy Temple City was a dry area, so the liquor in Martin's little bar must have been smuggled in from outside.
And most likely from the Drinkers' Assembly, with Martin, the head of the Sacred Order of Knights, acting as a protector. No wonder the Drinkers' Assembly had managed to sell liquor secretly under the Church's watch for so long without issue. Read new adventures at My Virtual Library Empire
Likewise, when Martin wanted to undermine Li Wei's reputation, he too had used an intermediary to find the information dealer Goethe from the Drinkers' Assembly to spread rumors.
Ma Lu had clarified this whole situation, but it seemed pointless now, as Martin was already dead.
By the time he was on his second drink, the Ouroboros Serpent and the Hellhound finally returned, though they first had to purify themselves, removing the accumulated Sin Value from their bodies.
Ma Lu wasn't in a hurry. The view here was pleasant. Although the taste of the liquor was mediocre, not even as delicious as the Popo Liquor he had in the desert before, he couldn't complain about free drinks.
What Ma Lu didn't expect was that the Hellhound, upon hearing of his return, immediately rushed up from below. Because she lacked the clearance, the elevator only went up to the 30th floor, and then she started frantically pressing the intercom inside.
Ma Lu had no choice but to let her up. The girl with purple hair burst into the room and blurted out, "I heard from Little Skylark that you're planning to leave."
"Yeah," Ma Lu nodded, making no attempt to hide it, "Things here are settled, and I've collected pretty much all the ingredients I need. It's time to move on."
He thought the purple-haired girl would try to persuade him to stay like Little Skylark did, but the Hellhound just gave a nonchalant response.
That made Ma Lu curious, "You don't seem surprised at all."
"Why should I be surprised?" the Hellhound replied, "From the first moment I saw you, I smelled a kindred spirit. You and I are the same type of people, yearning for freedom, never staying in one place too long."
"I'm not like you at all. I have common sense, you know." Ma Lu took another sip of his drink, paused, and then continued.
"But I do really enjoy traveling around, seeing different scenes, and even making money off it."
"Ha, then make the most of your time," she said.
"Make the most of what time?"
The purple-haired girl grinned, "I've said before I wanted to taste you, and if not now, who knows when the next chance will be."
"What?" Ma Lu was startled, "How do you want to taste?"
"Originally, I planned to dig out your heart and eat it, but doing that now would definitely upset Little Skylark and the others. So, I guess I'll just choose another part.
"Hey, take off your clothes and let me choose," the Hellhound was as brash as ever.
"Let's not," Ma Lu refused.
"Why, you've seen mine already."
"You've got to have some limits even if you lack common sense, can this really be something to trade?"
"Stop nagging." Hellhound said but had already rolled up her sleeves and pounced.
Ma Lu, needing to taste the wine, wasn't wearing his power armor, and he had just recently freed the witch by his own hands, losing the ultimate weapon, the Ring of Order, that restrained her.
He was completely no match for the purple-haired girl; however, as a man, he naturally couldn't admit defeat in such situations.
Soon, the two of them were scuffling together, initially, without a doubt, the purple-haired girl with maximum combat value had the upper hand, but soon Ma Lu's experience also came into play.
They fought from the ground to the table, from the table they knocked down the hibernation pod, and finally ended back on the ground where they started the final showdown.
Hellhound continued the strong performance from before, mounting Ma Lu, initiating suppression.
But before long, Ma Lu took advantage of her distraction, turned the tables, regained control, and successfully kept his position until the end.
After finishing the fight, they both were exhausted, just lying on the floor.
About half a minute later, when Ma Lu's heartbeat had slowed down a bit, he raised his head to look at her.
Then he saw various instruments in the lab and the small bar he had just moved in all knocked over, the entire room a mess.
And the liquor flowed along the floor right up to his front, and Ma Lu happened to be thirsty at the moment, so he picked up a shard of a broken bottle.
There was still some liquor inside, he brought his lips to it, about to drink, when the next moment he suddenly let out a scream.
Then he saw a row of teeth marks on his lower leg.
"No way, you really bit me!"
The purple-haired girl's bite was quite fierce; not only were two rows of teeth marks clearly visible, but it drew blood as well.
She licked the blood on the corner of her mouth, commenting, "Very salty, taste is just so-so."
"Nonsense, we've been fighting so hard, covered in sweat, it'd be weird if it wasn't salty." Ma Lu rubbed the bitten place fiercely, the pain making him grimace.
"But you never know until you try."
"Seriously, you need to take a crash course to work on your common knowledge," Ma Lu said while picking up the terminal.
"I don't like taking classes," Hellhound said, "I prefer real combat like we just had."
"......"
"Forget it, whatever you want." Ma Lu sighed and began to dress.
The purple-haired girl still lay sprawled on the ground, "Trying a fight like this once in a while isn't bad, let me know when you're back for another round."
"Uh... whenever I'm free I guess, and take care of yourself too."
"Don't worry, I've already strapped on the equipment I took from the armory; I'm incredibly strong now, you'll see when I carry out missions later," Hellhound confidently said.
"Then let's see who takes down more energized plants later."
