Chapter Seven Hundred and Twelve

Long Xiaoshan walked out of the Lily Hotel with Qin You.

Once they were in the car, Qin You said, "Xiaoshan, you're directly offending Situ Yu like this."

"Offended? So what if I have? Who told him to even think about snatching my wife?" Long Xiaoshan didn't start the car. Instead, he turned his head and stared intently at Qin You. It had been almost two months since he had last seen her, and his Sister Qin had become even more charmingly mature. Yet, she still exuded a vibrant energy. She was truly mesmerizing.

"What do you mean by 'snatching your wife'? I'm not even yours," Qin You sweetly countered, though her heart fluttered. She hummed with feigned annoyance, "Your words sound sweet, but you didn't visit me for two months. If I were really your wife, I would have made you wear a hundred green hats by now."

Long Xiaoshan, feeling incredibly ashamed, took Qin You's hand and said, "It's all my fault, Sister. I won't make excuses. I was wrong. Whatever punishment you see fit, I'll accept."

Seeing Long Xiaoshan like this, Qin You didn't have the heart to continue reproaching him. She wasn't the clingy sort of woman. "Alright, I know you've been busy. With your company getting so big, it's natural for you to be occupied. Young people should strive hard, which is why I didn't contact you. I didn't want to distract you."

Long Xiaoshan was deeply moved.

Sister Qin was truly understanding. Despite her frosty exterior, her heart was more delicate than anyone's.

He felt ashamed for the begrudging feelings he had harbored upon seeing Qin You get into Situ Yu's car earlier.

Long Xiaoshan leaned in quickly and pulled Qin You into his arms, giving her a passionate kiss.

Qin You's face turned bright red. After letting go, she gasped for air as if she had been drowning, and she gave Long Xiaoshan a reproachful look. "You were too forceful. What if someone outside saw us?"

Long Xiaoshan responded, "So what if they see? I want everyone to know you are mine, Sister."

Qin You's heart squeezed tightly. The little rascal had become even more charming after not seeing him for a few months. However, she didn't intend to show just how moved she was, stubbornly retorting, "With the internet being so advanced, if someone really sees, I'll be out of a job by tomorrow, making headlines."

"It would be great if you had no job. Why don't you quit and come help me?" Long Xiaoshan said earnestly.

"Help you? I'm not good at anything. I'm trained to catch criminals, not to do business," Qin You protested.

"You can learn if you don't know how. You're smart; you can learn anything. Even if you don't do business, there are many other things you can do. Whatever interests you is fine. I'd love to take care of you even if you did nothing."

"I don't want that. Whether you like me or not, what do you take me for? A decorative vase? Let's not talk about this now. Even if I consider changing careers, that would be a matter for later," Qin You stated.

"Alright, Sister. Whatever you decide to do, I support you," Long Xiaoshan said without insistence, appreciating Qin You's independence and strength.

"Let's talk about Shangguan," Qin You said, with a trace of worry showing on her face.

"What's wrong with Sister Shangguan?"

"Situ Yu claims that Shangguan is his sister-in-law, but I've never heard her say that. Even though Situ Yu didn't seem to be lying, I'm still worried for Shangguan. I feel like things aren't so simple. The Lily Hotel is Shangguan's life work; how could she have given it to Situ Yu so easily? And if she had married Situ Yu's brother, why would she live alone in Niu Y County? With the Situ Family's resources, even if Shangguan wanted to do business, she could've done it in big cities like Tianfu. Why would she come here?" Qin You explained.

Long Xiaoshan pondered, "Matters within large families are complicated. If Sister Shangguan truly is part of the Situ Family, it's hard for outsiders to get involved."

Qin You sighed, "True, the Situ Family is undoubtedly prominent. Even if Shangguan were wronged, there isn't much I could do to help. But after all, Shangguan is my good friend... "

Qin You felt rather helpless.

While she was somebody of note in Niu Y County, outside of it, her status didn't amount to much.

Long Xiaoshan squeezed Qin You's hand and reassured her, "Sister Qin, don't stress too much. I'll find out what I can about Sister Shangguan and tell you immediately."

"Don't strain yourself. The Situ Family isn't simple. You've already offended Situ Yu. I was just saying... If Shangguan really is Situ Yu's sister-in-law, I'm sure she's fine," Qin You quickly said, concerned. While caring for Shangguan was one thing, she equally didn't want Long Xiaoshan to take risks.

"Don't worry. Have you forgotten who I am? I'm an instructor at the Special Action Division. Finding someone is simple for me," Long Xiaoshan said with a smile.

"Oh, right."

Qin You's expression relaxed, "How could I forget that you've joined the Special Action Division? With its unique status, even the Situ Family cannot extend its reach there."

"Now you're at ease. Let's go grab something to eat," he said.

Long Xiaoshan started the car.

"Let's not eat out. I just bought groceries this morning. Come to my place, and I'll cook for you," Qin You suggested.

"That sounds great,"

Long Xiaoshan was delighted and drove straight to Qin You's home. About fifteen minutes later, the car parked below Qin You's apartment building, and the two went upstairs.

Qin You's home was as simple as ever, despite her promotion, she had not requested a change of residence.

Inside, everything was as it always had been.

After changing into slippers, Qin You headed straight to the kitchen to start preparing food, while Long Xiaoshan helped her wash and chop vegetables.

The two were busy in the kitchen, which was small, making it a bit cramped. They had to brush past each other occasionally while fetching condiments, but Long Xiaoshan relished this cozy feeling.

The afternoon sun filtered through the window.

Watching Qin You, who had tied on an apron and was skillfully cooking, Long Xiaoshan felt particularly good.

After Qin You finished preparing a plate of shrimp, she saw Long Xiaoshan gazing at her and chided, "What are you daydreaming about? Hurry up and take the dish over."

Snapping out of it, Long Xiaoshan took the plate of shrimp and said, "I was just thinking how lucky I'd be to marry you. You're beautiful and take good care of others. To have you look my way must be the blessing of several lifetimes."
