Chapter 512 Zhou Ruyi's Bestie
Zhou Ruyi was not one to hesitate. After Chu Mo had pointed out a way for her family to survive, she took only a moment to consider before solemnly accepting the "Chu Mo Short Story Collection 2" bound with a diamond-encrusted pen.
The book bore Chu Mo's autograph and also a pen personally given to Chu Mo by the queen of jewels, Wei'er Mina. With these items in hand, Zhou Ruyi would receive the warmest reception in Britain.
Chu Mo had hesitated for a long time over his arrangements in Britain, simply for lack of a suitable candidate. He had planned to have Qiu Shui, who was in charge in Dubai and Saudi Arabia, take over, but the delay was due to not finding a replacement for Qiu Shui. Just a few days ago, he had invested thirty billion at Han Zhengping's Zhengyuan Group yet lacked a responsible person to manage it.
Now that he had seen Zhou Ruyi, Chu Mo decided to give her a chance.
This was not out of any kindness on Chu Mo's part, but because he planned to use Zhou Ruyi to persuade her father, Zhou Weimin, to let go, thus completely defeating the eight major families on Zhou's battleground.
Of course, Chu Mo wasn't just using Zhou Ruyi. If she proved smart enough and worked hard enough, with Chu Mo's network and financial support, she wouldn't have to worry about carving out her own niche. By then, she would become one of his many spokespeople, with a net worth in the hundreds of billions, even trillions. At that point, the modest assets of the Zhou family in Capital City might not even interest her anymore.
Zhou Ruyi was a chess piece Chu Mo had cast in his spare time, for this piece stood far away in Britain and bore no impact on his arrangements in Hua Country. Even if Zhou Ruyi were to truly mismanage and lose everything, Chu Mo wouldn't mind in the least.
What mattered more was having Zhou Ruyi in his grasp. That way, her father, Zhou Weimin, might waver deep down while competing against Chu Mo's forces, and that was precisely the outcome Chu Mo most wished to see.
April 26.
After two consecutive days of rain, the weather had finally cleared up today. It was Chu Mo's second day back from Capital City, and also the second day since Zhou Ruyi agreed to go to Britain. True to her decisive nature, after a day of preparation, she planned to set out early the following morning. Chu Mo had specially arranged his private jet to take her directly to the airport in Britain, and he was even sending his personal secretary, Xia Xue, to accompany her.
That evening, Zhou Ruyi invited Chu Mo to her farewell banquet. Chu Mo had some matters he wanted to entrust to her personally, so he agreed to go.
The banquet was scheduled for six in the evening, and the guests were a few of Zhou Ruyi's closest friends.
As for the elders, fearing the formality would be constraining, she didn't invite any of them.
Zhou Ruyi's trip to Britain was of an uncertain duration. If all went well, she might only return once a year, like Qiu Shui in Saudi Arabia. But if things went poorly and everything was botched, the Zhou family in Capital City would fall into disaster. At that point, she'd likely be too ashamed to return at all.
So, with the resolve of someone facing death, Zhou Ruyi sought to leave with a bang; she invited all her close friends to throw her a grand farewell party.
Of course, officially she only claimed to be leaving for Britain to study, without revealing her true intentions to anyone.
The farewell banquet started at six in the evening, but Chu Mo did not arrive so early. He felt that his presence might affect Zhou Ruyi's friends, as in Capital City he was a bona fide magnate, a presence that even the second and third generations would respect, tail between their legs. His early arrival would make everyone tense.
Planning to join the banquet towards its end, Chu Mo intended to have a farewell toast with Zhou Ruyi, to express his sentiments, and perhaps give her some final instructions, after which everything would be satisfactorily concluded.
At six in the evening, Chu Mo enjoyed a lavish dinner at Emperor's Pavilion, even opening a bottle of top-tier red wine worth 1.3 million, though he only had a small glass. His appreciation for fine wines was slowly growing.
After seven, he went to the gym. Although he was much stronger now than before, Chu Mo never stopped working out. He ran on the treadmill for half an hour, followed by a few leisurely laps in the constant temperature swimming pool. When he left the gym, he let the head maid, He Qing, massage his body in the lounge.
By eight-thirty, after bathing and changing into a set of simple, custom-tailored casual wear, Chu Mo descended the stairs unhurriedly.
He leisurely drank a cup of tea in the living room until nine-thirty and, feeling it was about time, he left the mansion. At the door, a Red Flag led the way, followed closely by a Bentley, but Chu Mo directly got into a Rolls-Royce Phantom. At the wheel, the deputy leader of the bodyguards, Fang Lihu, was driving, with the towering figure of Lei Ting, who stood at 1.95 meters tall, sitting rigidly in the passenger seat.
The head of the bodyguards, Fan Gao, was still in seclusion and had mentioned it might be ten days to half a month, or even three to five months before he would emerge.
Head of the detective agency, Jiang Tao, was busy managing the one in Capital City and investigating Wu Pengkun of Dali's Golden Bell Shield.
Chu Mo planned to win over this half-step Grandmaster, so he decided to start with Wu Pengkun's martial arts academy. Fearing backlash, a direct approach was not feasible; thus, all must be done in secret, making this a very busy time for Jiang Tao.
