Trillionaire's Slice of Life

Chapter 195: Chu Mo's Speech

Around four o'clock in the afternoon, the grand auditorium of Building 8 at Normal University was filled with students of both good character and scholarship.

While the beautiful hostess, dressed in a luxurious evening gown, delivered an enthusiastic speech on the stage, most of the students below, though facing forward, had their minds drifting to the clouds.

These types of speeches were pretty standard, and Normal University students would hear them a few times each year: the host's chatter, mid-speech leadership remarks, guests reminiscing about their significant years followed by reviewing the school's development, and finally a look towards the future to wrap up — utterly unoriginal and useless.

Of course, for some of the younger female students, seeing the handsome and dashing Senior Chu on the stage was the only gain.

In the corner position near the back door of the auditorium, two girls whispered together. They appeared to be concentrating on the front, but in fact, they were gossiping with each other.

One of the girls, with ear-length short hair, whispered to her companion:

"Tang Tang, what do you think Senior Chu will talk about later? He's not going to spout that motivational fluff like those middle-aged men, is he?"

The girl called Tang Tang, with her long hair draped over her shoulders and a fair complexion, soft willow eyebrows, and bright eyes shining like the stars, possessed an air of grace and vivacity.

After hearing her companion's question, Tang Tang's gaze shifted from the woman on the stage with her hair up in a bun and wearing a strapless dress, back to the young man with the gold-rimmed glasses.

She hesitated for a moment, then said softly and clearly,

"Senior Chu is too young; he probably doesn't have much in the way of profound life experience, so he won't be able to share any deep insights. Most likely... just like you said, he'll dish out some platitudes."

As the words of the girl with the skin as smooth as warm jade fell, her short-haired companion teased,

"Tang Tang, were you just looking at that woman next to Senior Chu? There's a lot of debate on the campus network about whether that intellectual beauty next to Senior Chu is prettier, or our Normal University's top beauty Tang Tang. They even started a poll. Let me check...

up to now, those who agree the other girl is prettier number three thousand seven hundred votes, while those who think you, Tang Tang, are prettier are... seven thousand six hundred. Hehe, looks like our campus belle still has the edge."

Before the words of the two girls could finish, the hostess's passionate speech on the stage finally ended. When everyone thought that Principal Yang was going to give a lengthy discourse, he surprised them by wrapping up his speech in just a few sentences, then passing the floor to the young man beside him.

"Finally, it's Senior Chu's turn. The senior is so handsome that even if he were to give a motivational talk, I'd bear with it." said the short-haired girl in the back row.

Just as her words fell, Chu Mo, sitting in the centermost position on the stage, sat up straight. He leaned slightly forward and then spoke in a loud voice,

"To all the junior brothers and sisters seated, you are the most excellent students among the forty-five thousand members of Normal University. I want to know, who was ranked first in the comprehensive assessment last year?"

A girl with braids and glasses stood up from the front row as the young man onstage finished speaking.

Meanwhile, at the back, the corners of Tang Tang's mouth curled up slightly, and in a gentle voice, she said,

"Look, he's setting up an example first; Senior's motivational talk is about to begin."

The short-haired girl beside her nodded, but just then, the young man on the stage changed his tone and announced loudly,

"Congratulations, student, if you maintain your performance, upon graduating next year, you will receive one hundred million from the Entrepreneurial Foundation, and your life will completely change."

After Chu Mo's words fell, the already quiet hall instantly became so silent you could hear a pin drop. Everyone held their breath, their eyes wide with disbelief as they looked at the girl who had stood up in the front row.

Wow...

Instantly, as if on cue, the whole hall erupted into a tumult of discussion, full of throbbing excitement, skepticism, and puzzlement.

The short-haired girl in the back suddenly grabbed her companion's arm, her face full of surprise,

"I knew Senior Chu was different from those old men. See, he's not going to give us some bland motivational talk."

Tang Tang, whose hand was grasped by her friend, was also somewhat hesitant. She looked straight at the young man on the stage, and in that moment, Tang Tang suddenly realized she couldn't quite see through the young senior. Although he was about the same age, the realm and level he was in were far beyond her comprehension. Continue your adventure at My Virtual Library Empire

As the discussions in the hall died down, Principal Yang on the stage took over the conversation,

"Students, the Student Entrepreneurial Foundation sponsored by Chu Mo is currently in the works. There is no need to doubt this. You just have to produce your best results, and leave the rest to trust your teachers and the school."

After Principal Yang's words, the Entrepreneurial Foundation was effectively confirmed, and skeptical voices were replaced by sounds of astonishment and envy.

One hundred million for an entrepreneurship fund—such a windfall wasn't even available to graduating students of elite institutions like Shui Mu University, much less a tier-three institution like Normal University.
