Chapter 338:Shopping [1]
*third-person*
Staring at the dozens of glass-topped tables in front of him, Ren hesitated for a moment before walking up to one of them.
Up until now, all the money from Raven's and his healing scroll-selling business had gone towards essentials and things he needed to carry out his plans.
In fact, Ren had spent at least a month's profit on explosives and underwater materials to gain entry to the vault.
Of course, he had expected to get some sort of return from that...but unfortunately, the vault did not contain any magical artifacts he could take.
Instead, he had saved the academy and capital from a terrifying mythical beast.
Shaking his head, Ren refocused on the tables in front of him, peering past the glass and examining each accessory inside.
The tables were arranged in the maze, making it hard to get out once you entered.
Walking through the labyrinth of glass tables, Ren was about to exit when a particularly glass table caught his eye.
As Ren placed his hands on top of the glass, his blood-red eyes sparkled, making eye contact with a perfect watch.
"...a Rolex?"

The watch perfectly complimented Ren with its light-red wristband and crimson-red lens that lay above the internal clock.
Raising his hand and looking at his wrist, Ren attempted to imagine himself with the watch as a smile appeared on his face.
After a couple of seconds, he had already made his decision.
Letting out a dry cough, Ren stared around the floor, looking for any employees; however, there seemed to be none.
*BANG*
Just as Ren was about to turn around to face the table where the watch was located, the sound of a door slamming open sounded throughout the empty floor.
Within seconds, a panting and sweaty figure with a white collared shirt and a black vest appeared.
Not even glancing around the room, the figure immediately made eye contact with Ren and smiled before speed-walking over to him.
"...were they watching me on the security camera?' Discover more content at My Virtual Library Empire
Putting that aside, Ren patiently waited for the employee to reach him, friendly waving his hand.
After a couple of moments, the employee, with a key hanging from around his neck, reached Ren and asked.
"Is there anything you would like to purchase, student?"
Nodding his head, Ren pointed at the blood-red watch and asked.
"How much would that be?"
"1000 gold."
"..."
Making his shock and surprise with a simple nod, Ren stayed silent for a couple of seconds before taking a deep breath.
In retrospect, Ren and Raven's business made around 1000 gold a month now.
Before, at the start of their business, they used to make around 5000 gold as the scrolls were new and innovative, so everyone wanted them.
However, as people saw Ren's business profits, they joined the market and began developing their own healing scrolls, taking away some of Ren's customers.
Snapping Ren out of his trance, the employee continued.
"This watch is made of the finest materials and is battle-proof, making it able to withstand dangerous academy fights and challenges without breaking."
Ren didn't doubt the watch's excellence as he had already examined itself with his eyes, confirming that the watch was exquisite and durable.
Seeing Ren on the fence about deciding whether to buy it or not, the employee took the key off his neck and asked.
"Would like to try it on?"
Nodding his head, Ren watched as the employee grabbed the bottom of the key before approaching the glass table.
Without any hesitation, the employee plunged the key downward into the glass on top of the table.
However, breaking the glass or bouncing off it is the key..simply phased through the glass, disappearing from Ren's sight.
In the next moment, the glass on top of the table suddenly disappeared, revealing the true excellence of all the accessories on the table.
The glass had muted the vibrant colors of the accessories, but now, with it gone, they dazzled and shined perfectly under the lights above.
In particular, the blood-red watch, in Ren's opinion, shined the brightest.
The watch was contained in a black case, with the lid open to make it visible, so the employee carefully grasped the black box, not daring to lay a hand on the watch.
Carefully raising the box containing the watch, the employee made sure not to touch anything but its black exterior.
Gesturing for Ren to open his palm, he carefully placed the box in Ren's open palm and said.
"You have quite a great eye! This watch is actually one of our finest; from the design to the materials used, the watch is one of our best."
Pausing and watching Ren stare at the watch in his palm, the employee continued.
"Actually, it's the only watch in our collection that's made out of ruby. Usually, the gemstone is ignored in watchmaking as its too hard and dense to be used as a material. However...for this specific watch, the creator found the perfect ruby gemstone and couldn't pass up the opportunity."
Nodding his head even though he hadn't listened to the employee's drivel in the slightest, Ren smiled.
"I'll take it!"
After that, Ren simply took out his smartwatch, using a method similar to Apple Pay from Earth to pay for the smartwatch.
It was astonishing that he could spend that much money just by clicking a few buttons on his smartwatch, but within seconds, the glass returned to the box, and the watch was now in Ren's hand.
As the employee jolly skipped away, having earned a hefty commission, Ren raised his right hand and carefully touched the wristband of the watch.
However...it wasn't what he had expected.
Instead of being soft and smooth like a leather-made watch, the wristband of the crimson-red watch was...rough and hard, like a gemstone.
Despite all of that, it wasn't sharp at all or even heavy.
With a big grin on his face, Ren placed the watch on his wrist, specifically the area on his wrist closest to his right hand.
