Chapter 149: Deals Have Consequences (1)
Inside a massive room within another mansion, located in another exclusive district of the capital city, as the sound of gunfire, explosions, and screaming could be heard from outside...
"Damn it damn it damn it!" After angrily hanging up the phone on a certain bastard, Lin Zhu threw the phone onto the ground as hard as she could, causing the phone to shatter instantly.
"That fucking piece of shit!" Lin Zhu continued shouting at the top of her lungs in pure rage.
Although that certain bastard she was just on the phone with explicitly stated that he was going to cure Lin Minyi, her sister, which he technically did, what did he end up doing after they had reunited with each other?
Well according to Lin Minyi, he sent a fucking death squad that can apparently deal with cultivators right after them!
Like how the hell was that any better for them at all?!
In fact, if she knew that this was going to happen to begin with, she would've rather just taken her chances with the Golden Cobra and let her sister stay uncured instead!
At least he wouldn't try fucking killing her, unlike that bastard that was hunting them down right now!
"Regain it all back my ass! I swear I'll kill you, just wait you fucking piece of trash..." Lin Zhu gritted her teeth and muttered quietly beneath her breath.
"Zhu, just forget about him for now, okay? I promise I'll help you vent out your anger later when we get a chance to." Lin Minyi heard what Lin Zhu muttered, and she calmly replied back as she stood behind the wall adjacent to the door, peering through a small opening to ensure no enemies entered.
"But sis, look at what he's doing to us! He's mercilessly slaughtering my subordinates and tearing apart the organization I spent ten countless years building just so he can get to us! That bastard is toying with us, and I can accept that… but I can't afford to lose you. Not again, sis…" Lin Zhu desperately cried out.
"I know, I know, Zhu... But thinking about him won't help our current situation get better at all. Let's just focus on figuring out a way to get out of this mess first, alright?" Seeing as though how sad Lin Zhu appeared to be, Lin Minyi really wanted to hug and comfort her sister so badly, but she decided against doing so for now as she couldn't afford to take her attention off of the door, not even for a single second.
After all, the death squad that Ronald Kuangge had just deployed out to kill them, were clearly all highly skilled in combat and appeared specialized in hunting against very powerful people, judging solely based on the way they were fighting against her and her sister's subordinate's just a few minutes ago.
Not to mention that this death squad wore this black steel like armor that she couldn't even penetrate against despite being at the 9th level of the Innate Realm.
At most, she could only knock them back a bit and slightly injure them with the blunt force trauma caused by her attacks, but that was not nearly enough to make them back down.
"Alright sis... I'll listen to you." Lin Minyi then took a moment to steady herself, and she closed her eyes as she practiced tactical breathing.
Then after inhaling deeply and exhaling in controlled intervals to make her mind slightly a bit sharper, she walked over to the exclusive polished wooden desk that was shaped like a crescent and moved it out of the way, revealing a trap door underneath.
"How about through here, sis? There's a tunnel under this trapdoor that none of my subordinates know about, which will lead us to one of the safe houses I built specifically for a situation like this. We should be able to escape through this way if we're quiet enough." Lin Zhu bent down, opened the trapdoor, and asked.
"That works. Go on ahead without me first, I'll stay here for about another minute or two more just to make sure that we don't get sandwiched in between the enemies if we were to get chased." Lin Minyi stated as she continued peering out of the opening of the door.
However, Lin Minyi could sense that Lin Zhu was hesitant about this idea, and so Lin Minyi softened her voice and smiled, "Don't worry, Zhu, I'll catch up with you in no time. I'm in the peak of the Innate Realm, remember? So don't worry and just go, okay?"
"...Okay, sis...I trust you. Please stay safe for me." Lin Zhu hesitantly glanced back and forth between the trapdoor and her sister, and then she stated.
"Of course, Zhu. See you in about 3 minutes."
Lin Minyi smiled at Lin Zhu, and with those final departing words, she watched Lin Zhu finally descend into the tunnel with a heavy heart and closed the trap door behind her.
After staring at the trap door for a few more seconds, Lin Minyi then withdrew her gaze away from the trap door and returned back to her task.
What was odd though, was that the moment she had began peeping through the door again, the sounds of gunfire, explosions, and screams from outside all came to a halt all of a sudden.
It was as though time had completely frozen all of a sudden.
Not feeling quite right about the situation, Lin Minyi quickly rushed over to the trap door and hurriedly opened it up.
As she did so however...
BOOM!
An extremely loud explosion went off just right in front of her, where the entrance of the tunnel was.
Luckily, Lin Minyi was in the Innate Realm, and so she was able to easily react to the detonation and jumped backwards, allowing her to get away from the blast unscathed.
However, the blast from the detonation had caused the entrance of the tunnel to begin crumbling at an alarming rate.
Realizing that the blast wouldn't of even actually harmed her in the slightest even if she was directly in the radius of the blast considering that the explosion appeared to be a normal explosion, Lin Minyi realized that she had been set up just now, and so she quickly tried to run to the entrance of the tunnel before it fully collapsed.
Unfortunately, she didn't even get a chance to do so since a sound of a high beam energy blast could be heard headed directly towards her at an astonishing rate.
So Lin Minyi had to dodge to the side, as trying to continue downward through the trap door would undoubtedly cause the beam to hit her, and not even a hundredth of a second later...
ZING!
The beam zipped right through where she once stood.
"Tch." Lin Minyi couldn't help but click her tongue as she now watched the tunnel close up.
That beam that was just fired at her bought the enemies just enough time so that she no longer had enough time to squeeze through it.
Now of course, destroying the wood and stone materials that was currently blocking the tunnel was extremely easy for her to accomplish, and she could undoubtedly do it within about 2 seconds or less if she wanted to...
However, she didn't have two seconds to spare whatsoever, since...
"Don't make another move."
