Chapter 2: Home visit

The day began with the kind of quiet serenity that only a small, picturesque neighborhood could offer. Birds chirped, the sun cast a golden glow over the rooftops, and the faint scent of freshly brewed coffee wafted through the Dawson household. Inside, Rose moved gracefully through the kitchen, her thoughts occupied by her young son, James. Her husband, Jack, sat in the living room, engrossed in the morning newspaper, his sharp eyes scanning each line with the precision of a man who had spent years deciphering life's finer details.

From the nursery, James' soft babbles occasionally echoed through the house, a comforting reminder of the new life they had brought into the world. Rose entered the living room, holding a tray of coffee, and set it down beside Jack. She smiled warmly as she picked up the baby, cradling him in her arms.

"He's growing up so fast, isn't he?" Rose mused, her voice tinged with both pride and a hint of melancholy.

Jack folded the newspaper and looked up at her with a soft smile. "Hey , it's only 1 week after your discharge but he got your spirit. Always curious, always moving. Sometimes I wonder if he'll outpace us before we're ready."

Rose chuckled, sitting beside him. "Well, we'll just have to keep up, won't we?"

Their tender moment was shattered by a deafening explosion. The ground shook violently, and a wave of heat and debris tore through the neighborhood. Jack instinctively shouted, "Stay down!" as he threw himself over Rose and James, shielding them from the impact. Glass shattered, and a plume of smoke rose from the neighboring house.

Jack, already at the window, peered out cautiously. "It looks like the house next door has exploded," he said, his voice tense.

Before he could say more, a loud, thunderous knock pounded at the front door. Jack's tone turned sharp and alert. "Hide James. I'll handle this."

Rose nodded, moving swiftly to the nursery. She placed James in a hidden corner, her hands trembling as she whispered, "Stay quiet, my love. Please, stay quiet."

Jack approached the door, his heart racing. As he opened it slightly, four robed figures stormed in, their wands drawn, their faces twisted with malice.

**Dark Minion 1** (snarling): "Voldemort's vision shall prevail. No one escapes his wrath!"

**Dark Minion 2** (with a bored tone, as if reading off a grocery list): "Avada Kedavra."

Jack dropped dead instantly, his body crumpling to the floor.

**Dark Minion 3** (rubbing his hands together): "Right, lads, let's go inside. Chop-chop!"

The remaining wizards burst into the house, their boots clattering against the wooden floor as they searched for anyone else. Rose, hiding in the nursery, clutched a stick tightly, her breath shallow.

**Dark Minion 1** (calling out): "Oi, check the rooms! Don't leave a single nook un-turned!"

**Dark Minion 2** (muttering): "Why do we always have to do the dirty work? I signed up for this gig thinking there'd be more tea breaks."

They found Rose in the nursery, her eyes wide with terror. Without hesitation, one of the minions raised his wand.

**Dark Minion 3** (with a dramatic flourish): "Avada Kedavra!"

Rose dropped dead, her body slumping to the floor. James still in his corner , watching his new mother.

**Dark Minion 1** : "Human revilio "

Then they find Jason in corner . Tear streaming down his face .

**Dark Minion 1** (peering into the corner): "Well, well, what do we have here? A little brat, eh?"

**Dark Minion 2** (leaning in, squinting): "Looks like it. Should we off him too? Boss did say no witnesses."

**Dark Minion 1** (scratching his head): "Nah, he's just a baby. What's he gonna do, cry us to death?"

**Dark Minion 2** (snickering): "Fair point. Besides, I'm not getting paid enough for baby murder. That's a whole other level of messed up."

Just then, a shout echoed from outside.

**Barty Crouch Jr.** (yelling): "Aurors! Let's go!"

**Dark Minion 1** (panicking): "Blimey, it's the law! Scatter, lads!"

**Dark Minion 2** (hesitating): "What about the brat?"

**Dark Minion 1** (shoving him toward the door): "Forget the brat! Let's go!"

**Dark Minion 2** (grumbling as they run): "Fuck the brat, indeed. "

As the minions fled, the house fell eerily silent. James his tiny fists clenched, his mind racing.
