There is something wrong with Hikigaya’s classroom of the Elite, as expected

Chapter 52

Chapter 52: New Type of Scam Trap

“It’s still a bit early.”

After leaving the student council office, Hachiman looked up at the sky, which was not yet dim. Since joining the student council at the end of last month, working at the student council after school had become his main task during this time.

“By the way, it’s been quite a while since I last went to the library.”

Hachiman decided to head to the library to pass the time, which was really the only form of entertainment he could think of, since going to a shopping center alone was not something he could bring himself to do.

Compared to the beginning of the semester, there were noticeably more students in the library now. This made sense, given that the midterm exams at the end of the month were a battle no student could afford to lose.

As expected, none of the students from Class D were present among the library’s self-study crowd.

“Looks like everyone is quite confident about the midterms!” Hachiman couldn’t help but sneer.

He then found a secluded corner on the upper floor, where the intersecting bookshelves and corner beams created a small blind spot in his view. The stacked bookshelves seemed like the protective walls of a fortress, and it was a quiet spot he had accidentally discovered, which almost no one seemed to visit. It had become his personal refuge.

When Hachiman turned the corner, he froze. A girl with light blue hair and purple eyes was sitting on the floor, her back against the corner wall. Several books were scattered around her, all mystery novels by famous foreign authors.

She seemed to be deeply immersed in her reading, with small expressions of tension and occasional frowning as she encountered the most intense parts of the story.

Hachiman hadn’t expected the peaceful spot he discovered to already be occupied. Well, maybe others had found this quiet place before him; he had just gotten here first.

Uh…

How coincidental. The girl seemed to have been sitting for quite a while and gently moved her legs. Then, in the blink of an eye, Hachiman accidentally glimpsed her “absolute territory!”

Hachiman swore it was definitely an accidental glimpse and not intentional!

Moreover, it was only a tiny bit that he saw—definitely not because of his angle!

Not thinking too much, Hachiman quickly turned around to leave. He didn’t want to be mistaken for a stalker, but then—”Bang!”—he collided with a nearby bookshelf, causing a loud noise.

Great!

As expected, the sudden noise in the otherwise quiet environment caught the girl’s attention. She looked up in confusion, scanning Hachiman’s somewhat familiar figure. In the next second, her pupils widened, and the confusion in her eyes disappeared, replaced by surprise.

“Wait!”

The girl hurriedly stood up, trying to grab the corner of his shirt. However, perhaps because she had been sitting for too long, her leg muscles were stiff. When she tried to stand, her legs felt weak, and before she could react, she tumbled forward.

Just as she was about to kiss the ground, Hachiman rushed forward and caught her.

“Are you… okay?”

Hachiman managed to catch her just in time. The softness of her body and the faint fragrance she carried caused his heart to race slightly. After she had regained her balance, he quickly let go of her and prepared to leave.

Seeing the boy she had just run into preparing to leave, the girl looked anxious and instinctively chased after him. However, she was a bit too eager and accidentally slammed her head into Hachiman’s chest.

The sudden “headbutt” against his chest caused Hachiman to bend slightly, letting out a muffled groan in pain.

The girl immediately realized she had caused trouble and hurriedly looked up to apologize. However, in her rush, she accidentally bumped her head into his face with a loud “Bang!”

The sharp pain made the girl cover her head with both hands and let out a quiet “Ugh” of distress.

“Ah! You’re bleeding!”

The girl noticed that Hachiman’s nose was now bleeding. She seemed startled by the sight and completely forgot about the tissues in her pocket. In her panic, she reached out and tried to help stop the bleeding, but in her frantic state, her palm ended up pressing down on his nose.

“I… I think it’s stopped?”

Seeing that the bleeding seemed to slow, she sighed in relief.

The next second, blood sprayed out again!

“I’m so sorry! I didn’t mean to.”

The girl lowered her head in shame, apologizing repeatedly while Hachiman pressed on his nose to stop the bleeding. Thankfully, it was a minor injury, and the bleeding stopped soon after.

“But… isn’t it supposed to be better to tilt your head back when you have a nosebleed?” The girl, curious, asked when she saw Hachiman’s head down and one hand pinching his nose.

“Do you think my injury isn’t bad enough?”

“Sorry, sorry!”

Realizing she had said something wrong, the girl quickly apologized again and made a mental note to learn first aid properly when she got home.

About ten minutes later, once Hachiman felt the bleeding had completely stopped, he released his hand and looked up to meet the gaze of the girl, who was now eyeing him with a curious expression.

“Ah, I’m Shiina Hiyori from Class 1-C. I’m really sorry for what happened earlier. I didn’t mean to,” the girl introduced herself, her voice frantic and cautious as she carefully observed Hachiman’s expression, afraid he might still be upset.

“If you had meant to, I’d probably be lying in the hospital right now,” Hachiman couldn’t help but mutter under his breath.

Thinking back to the recent events, was this some kind of cliché from a romance anime or light novel? It was just too absurd! His nose was still hurting from the collision earlier.

Shiina Hiyori let out a small giggle at his remark, but realizing it wasn’t the right time, she quickly covered her mouth, although she couldn’t hold back her words. “It feels like something that only happens in a novel’s plot.”

“I’m fine now. I’ll leave.”

Hachiman stood up, but just as he turned to leave, Hiyori looked worried and hurried to follow. But before she could do anything, Hachiman quickly took a step back, as though encountering something terrifying, similar to the “don’t come near me” reaction of some character with blue spiky hair.

Shiina Hiyori froze for a moment, and then couldn’t help but laugh out loud.

“You haven’t told me your name yet!”

“Hi, Hachiman Hikigaya, Class 1-D.”

“Will you come again?” The girl asked, looking at him expectantly.

“Huh?”

Hachiman had a strange expression on his face. Was this some new kind of scam trap?

The classic campus romance light novel scenario where a beautiful, intelligent girl in the library actively approaches a guy and strikes up a conversation?
Yeah, right!
