Chapter 577 - 577 You Bastard
Chapter 577: Chapter 577 You Bastard
Luo Ziling actually didn’t like staying here, but for his mother Ling Ruonan, and for the sake of courtesy, he still forced himself to stay.
After leaving Ling Mingrui’s room with Ling Ruonan, Luo Ziling wanted to have a private talk with Ling Ruonan, but Ling Mingrui called her back in for a father-daughter conversation.
“Ziling, go outside and play for a bit,” Ling Ruonan had indeed scolded Luo Ziling just now, but it was not because she wished to berate him. She didn’t want Ziling to have a falling out with the Ling Family, and it was also out of respect for the two elders, so she felt a bit guilty. She spoke to Luo Ziling with utmost tenderness: “Just take a walk outside, and get to know some other relatives, but remember, don’t argue with them.”
“Okay,” Luo Ziling readily agreed. “Then I’ll just go for a walk outside. I definitely won’t start any arguments.”
Luo Ziling also wanted to say a few words to Ling Haining and Ling Haijun.
He always wondered whether these two brothers had played any tricks on him and wanted to take the opportunity to chat with them and squeeze out some information.
After leaving Ling Qirui’s room and walking into an outdoor courtyard, Luo Ziling saw a group of girls of varying ages chattering and hesitated before approaching them.
Upon seeing Luo Ziling come out, all the girls fell silent and looked at him with strange glances.
Luo Ziling didn’t mind and went over with a smile to greet them: “Hello, I’m Luo Ziling!”
Ling Ruonan hadn’t introduced him just now, and he didn’t know the names of these younger members of the Ling Family. Many of them looked somewhat similar, and he found it difficult to tell them apart. To his surprise, these younger female members of the Ling Family were all quite beautiful, not a single one had unattractive features.
A few of the older girls could even be described as one in ten thousand beauties, and they were quite a pleasant sight.
Luo Ziling felt that, being handsome himself, any girl who saw him would be willing to talk to him and might even fall for him. Thus, he was least afraid of interacting with girls.
But to his surprise, as he smiled and greeted these girls, not a single one paid him any attention. The six or seven girls acted as if they hadn’t seen him or heard what he said and walked away, holding hands.
Only a little girl, around eight or nine years old, smiled and responded to him: “You’re Aunt Ruonan’s son, right? You’re really handsome, even better looking than a movie star. By the way, my name is Ling Qingqing.”
Luo Ziling did not know whose daughter Ling Qingqing was, but hearing her call him that way, he assumed she must be a relative of his generation.
The other pretty girls of various ages didn’t want to talk to him, but this delicate-looking little girl was willing to chat, so he immediately took a liking to this little girl called Ling Qingqing.
“So it’s Qingqing,” Luo Ziling showed an even brighter smile, then pointed at the silhouettes of the girls walking out of the courtyard, and said with self-mockery: “I thought my good looks would definitely be popular with girls, but it turns out the girls of the Ling Family don’t like me. This is the first time I’ve gotten such a blow in life!”
“Cousin Ziling, you’re really funny,” Ling Qingqing’s big eyes sized up Luo Ziling, and she asked with curiosity, “How come I’ve never seen you before?”
“I live in a faraway place, so I never had the chance to come here to play. Now that I’m studying in Yanjing, my mom brought me over to celebrate Great Grandfather’s birthday.” Luo Ziling explained and then added a bit awkwardly: “I don’t really know most of the people from the Ling Family, and I haven’t fully recognized all the elders either.”
“Do you want me to take you to meet some of your cousins?” Ling Qingqing asked mischievously, “But I think, they might not necessarily want to get to know you or talk to you. Do you dare to go?”
“What’s there not to dare?” Luo Ziling replied with a smile. “Then you lead the way!”
Ling Qingqing gave another mischievous smile and started to lead the way.
Soon they arrived at the large courtyard outside.
The younger members of the Ling Family were mostly gathered in the courtyard talking, while the older ones typically conversed inside the houses. The courtyard was initially bustling, but when Luo Ziling followed Ling Qingqing into the courtyard, those who had been chatting merrily, suddenly fell silent as if someone had choked them all at once.
All kinds of gazes fell on Luo Ziling and Ling Qingqing, and some could not help but reveal a look of contempt.
Since Ling Haining was the eldest grandson of the Ling Family’s main branch and ranked highest among his peers, coupled with his handsome appearance and the fact that he had already started handling affairs for the older generation, he naturally became their “leader,” with most people standing around him.
Ling Qingqing led Luo Ziling in front of Ling Haining and introduced them with a smile.
“I know these two; we’ve had dealings before,” Luo Ziling chuckled to Ling Qingqing before reaching out his hand to Ling Haining, “Cousin, we meet again.”
“I heard you just treated Great Grandfather?” Ling Haining, without being rude, shook hands with Luo Ziling but didn’t smile and quickly let go after a light grip. “You’re quite skilled.”
“Yes,” Luo Ziling also didn’t mind, still smiling at Ling Haining, “It’s a responsibility that I, as a junior, ought to fulfill, an unavoidable duty.”
With that, he reached out to Ling Haijun, “Cousin Haijun, we’ve met several times.”
Ling Haijun’s expression was visibly awkward, but he still squeezed out a smile and shook hands with Luo Ziling, “Indeed, we have met several times.”
When shaking hands with Luo Ziling, he just lightly pinched with his fingers and immediately let go, as if he were touching something scalding hot.
“So you know a lot of people!” Ling Qingqing looked at Luo Ziling with an innocent smile, “So there’s no need for my introduction?”
“I don’t know the others,” Luo Ziling said, seeing no intention from Ling Haining or Ling Haijun to introduce him to others, somewhat embarrassedly joked with Ling Qingqing, “If you don’t introduce me, I won’t be able to get to know anyone else.”
“Alright then,” Ling Qingqing agreed reluctantly, pointing to a tall handsome guy standing next to Ling Haining, looking indifferent to everything, “This is Ling Haiyang, ‘Haiyang’ as in the ocean. His name was given because his dad serves in the navy.”
“Hello,” Luo Ziling extended his hand politely towards him.
But to his surprise, the man named Ling Haiyang did not reach out his hand. Instead, he looked at Luo Ziling with an arrogant air and said imperiously, “You bastard, by what right do you come to participate in Great Grandfather’s birthday celebration? Do you even qualify to shake hands with us?”
Ling Haiyang’s words made many faces in the audience change, yet many were secretly pleased.
Especially Ling Haining and Ling Haijun, who watched with a playful look at Luo Ziling, who still had his hand outstretched, looking rather embarrassed.
