Chapter 225: Chapter 225: Is your sack a bottomless pit?

Bai Chuwei presented the Purple Gold Flower Card, and the restaurant manager immediately took it seriously, quickly leading Bai Chuwei towards the direction of the inner kitchen.

Cao Jinhai hadn’t been home for nearly half a month; he lived in Juxian Pavilion every day, practicing cooking the moment he opened his eyes, even researching recipes in his dreams.

Upon entering, a strong smell of cooking fumes hit them. In the center of the kitchen were several ultra-long tables, topped with dish after dish of what clearly appeared to be freshly made food.

Cao Jinhai, dressed in his chef’s uniform and tall chef’s hat, muttered to himself, “No, why is there always a bit of flavor missing from my dishes? It’s slightly different from what the recipe describes.”

Glancing at a calendar, Cao Jinhai began to feel a sense of urgency.

The time for his agreed appointment with Miss Bai was drawing near, yet he had not completely figured it out. How could he not be anxious?

When Cao Jinhai turned around, he saw Bai Chuwei, carrying a cloth bag full of vegetables, walking in with a bright smile.

Cao Jinhai’s face went red, and he grew even more anxious, “Miss Bai, why have you come?”

“To see how well you’ve learned the recipe I gave you.”

Cao Jinhai, a well-known master chef, stood before Chuwei rubbing his hands together, looking very insecure, like a child about to be tested.

Bai Chuwei took a pair of clean chopsticks, picked up a dish to taste, and said with a light laugh, “There’s still some difference.”

An apprentice, unable to restrain himself, looked at Bai Chuwei and said, “With these dishes, Master Cao could be crowned a God of Cookery.”

Cao Jinhai scolded his apprentice angrily, “Shut up!”

Cao Jinhai’s face was flushed, and he said with great discomfort, “Miss Bai, I’ve been practicing cooking tirelessly, day and night, but for some reason, there’s always a little something missing.”

Cao Jinhai was almost in tears, “I’m sorry, Miss Bai, I might not be able to prepare the banquet you asked for by next Sunday.”

It was too distressing; as a chef for decades, this was the first time he couldn’t even get the dishes right.

Bai Chuwei let out a light laugh, “Perhaps it’s a problem with your ingredients.”

An apprentice in charge of ingredients immediately said, “That’s impossible; we get fresh fruits and vegetables every day.”

Bai Chuwei passed the cloth bag full of vegetables to Cao Jinhai with a smile, “Master Cao, for the banquet on Sunday, I want all the dishes to be made using only the meats and vegetables from this bag.”

Cao Jinhai took the cloth bag, looking somewhat baffled.

Just… just this one cloth bag? Could these few items be enough to finish the job?

Bai Chuwei had specified that there would be a total of twenty-eight dishes for Sunday; even if he emptied the cloth bag, it surely couldn’t provide enough for eighteen dishes, could it?

Bai Chuwei looked at Cao Jinhai, who was on the verge of speaking, and said with a slight smile, “Don’t worry, Xiao Cao, there will definitely be enough fruits, vegetables, and meat in here. Be on time for Sunday.”

Bai Chuwei then turned and left the kitchen, leaving Cao Jinhai and two apprentices bewildered.

Cao Jinhai felt that Bai Chuwei was just too mysterious. Thinking of that recipe, he bit his lip and said, “Let’s pour out all the vegetables from the bag to see how much there is; I… I will try to make twenty-eight dishes with these.”

An apprentice, nearly screaming, clutching his face, said, “Master, how is this possible, with just this one cloth bag, even five dishes would be good…???”

The apprentice’s voice suddenly stopped.

Because Cao Jinhai kept reaching into the cloth bag and pulling out vegetables, one after another… they just kept coming, unceasingly.

???

This cloth bag of yours, the hell, is it a bottomless pit?
