Chapter 264: Hating those critical harsh rev
"Of all moments, it chooses now." she mumbled This was not exactly the best time for the third world to be opened. She had around thirty minutes and then she would have to be back on that stage.
"Excuse me." She slowly pushed the make up artist aside and rushed out of the room as if something was on her heels.
She located the nearest empty bathroom and locked herself inside. Within a few seconds, she was fully immersed in the virtual gaming world.
The others must have been waiting as well because almost every player had arrived at the same time as Alix or before her.
She found herself on the shores of an empty beach. Before her was a massive body of blueish green water and behind, a large mostly green forest. You could hear the birds, the sound of the waves, and the calls of different animals.
Alix even saw a little crab going into the water.
Words started forming, and a voice that could be heard by all the players made an announcement.
"Welcome to Parker's island, home of the G'takk rebels led by Marshall G'takk. All players can read more about this world and the challenges on the forum before proceeding to begin their tasks. All players should choose new professions and weapons as soon as possible. Any detection of cheating will result in a permanent ban from the game. We wish you you the best of luck."
The players scattered immediately, and Alix was no different. Her fingers moved rapidly on the phone as she went to seek out a new profession.
The system elf was ready with information, saving her time.
"You will love this one, it's a a shooter game, so most things from the first and second world are going to be rendered useless. I am recommending two professions for you, long range shooter and flight pilot. You can play as first person or in third person."
As it explained, Alix chose everything that it recommended.
"Weapons." she said.
A full list of weapons from the weapons sections appeared on the screen. Rechargeable weapons, consumable weapons, beam weapons, missiles. Each category of weapons had images and classes.
One thing she quickly noticed was the price. These were some expensive weapons, no wonder the system had made her sell that necklace. The cheapest gun cost as much six hundred thousand game currency. The more expensive ones went as high as one hundred million, game currency.
The price was so high that Alix whistled. She couldn't forget about the extra camouflage items, transportation modes, for land, air and water. Essentially, her ostrich and dragon had been rendered useless in this world.
"Do I have your permission to purchase everything as I see fit?" the system asked.
"Go ahead." She answered reluctantly, afraid that her bank accounts would be depleted by the time it was done.
"The system will be upgrading in an hour, you will lose your connection during that one hour."
"Noted." she replied.
While the system upgraded, she would take her time and read up on the the third world. Without her cheat, she didn't want to to just rush in and make mistakes. This game was too expensive for mistakes.
"Hey over here." Dark death popped up next to her.
Unlike Alix, she had already changed her outfit. The assasin looked like a female cyborg now. Her outfit was sleek and light, yellow in color. A little too bright for Alix's taste.
"Check me out, cool, huh?" she twirled for Alix.
Alix nodded. It was cool indeed, so cool that she wanted a similar outfit but perhaps in a different color, preferably not one that would get her spotted easily in a world where they would be playing with guns.
"It says on the forum that guilds are still operable but in this world they will operate as teams." Dark death told her.
The assasin had a big smile on her face and she was already admiring a gun in her hands. She aimed it at the water and said, 'pew, pew, pew.'
"That's good, I guess. I thought we would have to hunt each other but if we can still work in teams then that means their is a final boss to take down."
Dark death smirked and said, "It must be that Ga something, I didn't get the name. Either way, if the final task is a team task then it will be our Badass team taking him out." Then she looked at Alix with a curious smile. "Will you be going after the elf in this world too? I watched the highlights and saw what you did to him and and his friends. They will surely be gunning for revenge."
Alix made a finger gun with her right hand and pretended to take a shot. "If they come for me then I will respond in kind."
The assasin chuckled because expected nothing less from the fearsome guild leader she had come to love. Alix was a very vengeful person it seemed. Dark death often caught herself thinking that they would have been good friends if they lived on the same planet. She liked decisive people like this.
"Did you get any good gifts from your fans? You have millions of them."
"The game has been locked, how could I receive any gifts?" she replied. The question however reminded her to check. "Hey, I have to go, I will see you later."
She left the virtual gaming world and couldn't resist temptation despite having less than ten minutes to be on the stage again. She needed to know if she had received any gifts.
"System, me, gifts?"
"Your friend was right, you speak improperly. But yes, you have received hundreds of gifts. Since I cannot give them to you right now I can read them out maybe. One box of apple fresh toothpaste."
"Stop." she yelled in her mind.
She had been down this road before with the critical and harsh reviews of her looks. It was hard for her to forget the things the system had said to her. What the hell was wrong with her teeth for a fan to send her toothpaste?
She opened her phone camera and used it as a mirror, looking at her teeth.
"They are fine." she mumbled.
On the virtual screen, the blue elf smiled menacingly like a little evil villain. "Are you sure?" it asked slowly.
She moved her eyes furtively around and wondered if she should ask. The stupid elf sure knew how to poke the right buttons and make her insecure.
She looked at her teeth again, going as far as to pull her bottom lip down to look at her gums. When she was finished, she stuck her tongue out and inspected it.
"I can give you a free...."
"No." she rejected the system strongly. "I am fine, my teeth are fine. I do not have crooked teeth, holes in my teeth, bad breath or any other oral cavities."
"Do you have any idea how many sweets you eat a week?" It asked.
It spoke in that little judgmental voice which she hated. "Shut up. I am going out to perform. Stop distracting me."
"Denial, you are in...."
She muted the system and left the bathroom but in the back of her mind, she had the bright idea to pay a visit to a dentist. Not because of the system but because she was a wise woman who just happened to have this great idea.
