The World Strongest Pokemon Hunter

Chapter 8: Chapter 8: Harimu Ruins

Ronnie pressed down on his pounding heart, his hands trembling as he immediately began to set up the restrictions and oaths for Gardevoir.

Name: Gardevoir

Attributes: Psychic, Fairy

Characteristic: Copy

Synchronization: Active...

A minute passed in the blink of an eye, and Ronnie spoke rapidly, almost as if his words were being shot out from a machine gun.

As he finished, the Nen energy surrounding Gardevoir, who was standing calmly, suddenly came to a halt.

In the next moment, her power surged multiple times over. The overwhelming pink aura of Nen filled the room in an instant, like a glowing beacon.

It was as if a giant pink flashlight had been turned on, transforming the entire space into a shimmering sea of pink light.

Suddenly, the tables, chairs, and other objects in the room began to levitate. The thick Nen energy acted like an invisible hand, pulling them down in unison.

Gardevoir's emerald green hair fluttered wildly in the air, and with a single turn, she shifted from a gentle and graceful figure into a calm, powerful queen.

The ability of the illustrated guide activated!

Name: Gardevoir

Features: Copy

Attributes: Psychic, Fairy

Strength: A

Skills: Telekinesis, Mental Shock, Hypnosis, Magical Sparkle, and more...

"Hahahahahaha! It's done!" Ronnie shouted, unable to suppress the joy bubbling inside him.

Gardevoir had become far stronger than before, and Ronnie couldn't believe that his first Pokémon had evolved so dramatically in such a short time.

This was just the beginning! The second and third Pokémon were on the way...

Class B had turned into Class A, and soon Class A would become Class S!

As a hardcore Pokémon fan, Ronnie could confidently say that he could explain most of the powerful Pokémon abilities with perfect clarity.

Even for Pokémon that might not be as exceptional, he had no worries about their strength regressing due to the restrictions and oaths. After all, their innate strength was low to begin with.

And with Gardevoir's newfound abilities, not only could she teleport multiple people at once, but she could now teleport over long distances in quick succession, significantly enhancing her life-saving potential.

Ronnie's smile was so wide that it could almost split his face. He hadn't expected such a big reward from his first attempt.

Outside on the streets of Harry Wood City.

The overall architectural style in Harimu City leaned heavily toward the classical, with strong Western influences. It resembled a mixture of Gothic architecture and older traditional designs.

The cobbled streets, paved with neat rows of bricks and stones, gave the city a serene, organized feel—perfect for people with a tendency toward obsessive-compulsive disorder.

The buildings on either side of the street were primarily villa-style, often standing two or three stories tall. The exteriors were made of stone and had flying buttresses, making them look somewhat like churches.

The buildings were mostly off-white, which gave them a polished, clean appearance that created an immediate sense of tidiness.

Ronnie was leisurely strolling through the city, his mind partially focused on the architecture while he admired the scenery. He subconsciously compared it to the cityscapes back on Blue Star.

The shops and stalls lining the streets were mostly focused on selling items related to the Harimu Ruins.

Most of the vendors dealt in antiques, many of which were claimed to have been found in the ruins. However, as time passed, the availability of such items had dwindled, especially in the outer city. Those who lived in the inner city were prohibited from entering, making the chances of finding anything truly valuable extremely slim.

In other words, none of the so-called "antiques" were authentic.

As Ronnie walked along the brick-paved streets, his steps suddenly slowed. He frowned as something unusual caught his attention.

"Huh?"

The Pokémon breeding progress bar in his mind, which had been moving steadily, suddenly came to a halt. It had been advancing slowly before, but now it had completely frozen, as though it had hit an invisible barrier.

Ronnie squinted and instinctively glanced toward the direction of the Harimu Ruins.

Without hesitation, Ronnie disappeared in a flash. In the blink of an eye, he reappeared in a deserted open space near the ruins.

Immediately, the stagnant progress bar began to surge forward once more, as though it had been recharged with new energy.

Is that really the case... Ronnie thought to himself as he observed the wall covered with relief carvings nearby.

It quickly became clear to him: there was a limit to the progress bar within the city. Once it reached that threshold, he needed to get closer to the center of the area for the progress bar to continue moving forward.

And for this particular Pokémon breeding location, the center was none other than the Harimu Ruins!

Ronnie wasn't sure if every Pokémon's gestation required proximity to the center, but the signs were undeniable.

This was his first experience of Pokémon gestation, after all. Gardevoir had appeared alongside him when he awakened his Nen, and the unfolding situation seemed to confirm his earlier theory. Not long after, the progress bar stalled once more at the 50% mark.

Without hesitation, Ronnie walked deeper into the Harimu Ruins, and once again, the progress bar began to advance.

It didn't bother him much—he had planned to explore the ruins anyway, and this just happened to push him into action earlier than expected.

The inside of the ruins was labyrinthine and confusing. The moment he stepped inside, the first impression he got was that of a maze. The walls were a light yellow, with several statues scattered around.

While most of the ruins were relatively well-preserved, there were still areas where walls had crumbled, and fallen statues lay in pieces on the ground, unnoticed by most passersby.

The reliefs on the walls were incredibly detailed, showing the high level of craftsmanship that had gone into them. The artistry was truly breathtaking.

It was said that the Harimu Ruins were the remnants of an ancient palace, destroyed long ago, and left in its current state after some mysterious event.

This mystery intrigued countless archaeologists and relic hunters, but very little information had been discovered about the true history of the ruins.

From the reliefs, it was possible to infer that the ancient people of this kingdom had been highly artistic. The kingdom was renowned for its vibrant culture, with the people deeply invested in professions like painting and sculpture.

Furthermore, the royal family had been said to possess tremendous power, and every king in the kingdom had been its strongest warrior.

At the time, the continent was far less stable than it was now, and the people relied heavily on the protection of the royal family.

Despite the continuous threats of danger, the kingdom had never experienced a true crisis, and its people attributed their safety to the power of the king.

Most of the statues throughout the ruins depicted the kings of old, celebrating their strength and wisdom.

Unfortunately, these ancient relics had been left largely untouched due to their age and fragility. To preserve the integrity of the historical site, strict laws were enacted to protect these cultural artifacts.

Stealing gold or jewelry from the ruins wasn't much of a concern, but disturbing the reliefs or statues? That was a different story entirely. Those caught doing so would be subject to harsh punishments by the authorities.

As Ronnie moved deeper into the ruins, the progress bar continued to creep toward 100%.

Finally, it stopped.

"Sigh... It looks like I'll have to confront the death thoughts."

Ronnie stared at the ominous thoughts of death that loomed ever closer. They weren't a solid entity but more like an ominous black mist, swirling in front of him, "provoking" him with its menacing presence.

The black smoke twisted and shifted like countless tentacles, eager to pull him in and consume him.

As he reached the boundary between the outer and inner ruins, the progress bar halted once more at 70%.

"So... we've reached 70%. It would be a shame to give up now. Is there any way to deal with this death energy?" Ronnie mused.
