The Vixen's Gambit: Tonight We Hunt

Chapter 158: So Clingy!

Dead silence.

Using this term to describe a bustling concert venue was clearly not appropriate under normal circumstances.

Unfortunately, this wasn't a normal situation. The small area centered around Lee could only be described with this single word.

"...Um, I don't think I heard that right." Elysia rubbed her ears. "What did you just say?"

"Confusing dreams with reality is proof of a loss of reality testing." Mei emotionlessly took off her glasses and wiped them. "And this is a classic symptom of schizophrenia. I suggest you get a full psychiatric evaluation."

"Kevin, you can lie to me, but don't lie to yourself." Su sighed, seemingly lamenting his best friend's delusion. "A lot of people have confessed to Senior Lee, and even more have been rejected. There's no shame in admitting the truth."

"No, Kevin is telling the truth." Lee leaned her head to the side, looking a bit troubled. "Why would you think he's not telling the truth?"

"…" x3

[Energy +10000]

[Energy +8888]

[Energy +9527]

[Energy +90000]

"?"

Looking at the numbers popping up before her eyes, Lee was a little confused.

The first three were definitely Elysia, Mei, and Su, but where did the last 90,000 come from?

Could it be Kevin? That didn't seem right either. The kid was grinning like a fool right now; he didn't look like he could trigger such a huge energy spike—

"No way, I don't agree!!!"

A shriek erupted from the seat behind Lee, startling her. When she turned around to see the person who had made the sound, the question marks above her head multiplied.

Despite the sunglasses, mask, baseball cap, and heavy coat—looking every bit like a creepy stalker—Lee still recognized the person in front of her at a glance. Wasn't this Mobius?!

"Doctor?" Lee's eyes widened in surprise. "What are you doing here, dressed like this?"

Although she asked this, Lee had already guessed the situation in her mind—most likely Elysia had mentioned going to the concert with her in front of Mobius. Mobius, being the jealous type but too stubborn to admit it, had followed Elysia all the way to the concert.

After all, Mobius neither liked crowds nor had much interest in music…

"Don't say anything, just come back with me!" Mobius gritted her teeth and ripped off her disguise. "It's too dangerous out here!"

She had only let Lee out for a few months, and already someone was trying to steal her away?!

If Lee continued to stay outside, who knows when she would be abducted!

There was Elysia on the inside, some random white-haired guy on the outside, and Mei hovering somewhere in between… Why were they all interested in Lee?!

Mobius hadn't seen any Honkai in Nagazora City, but she felt that her own sanity might soon collapse.

These narcissistic people… It's just that Lee is too kind, so they're getting the wrong idea!

Gnashing her teeth, Mobius felt that she needed to keep Lee tethered to her side to feel at ease.

"What are you talking about, Doctor?" Lee laughed helplessly. "I can't leave now, I have to stay here at least for a few months…"

"There are too many bad people out here!"

Watching Mobius throw a tantrum, Mei silently put her glasses back on.

Is this the pinnacle of human genetic science? So clingy…

No, I can't become like this. Throwing a fit won't help me win Lee over.

Eventually, the group was escorted out of the venue by security for being too noisy. The concert ended without them hearing a single song.

It took Lee quite a while to soothe the sulking Mobius. The green-haired doctor looked like a graceful, mature woman on the outside, but when she got upset, she acted no different from a child, leaving Lee feeling helpless.

After all, returning to headquarters was impossible. The 3rd Herrscher was about to descend in two months; there was no way she could abandon her mission halfway.

Elysia took Mobius back to headquarters, but judging from their expressions, Lee guessed that Kevin's path in Fire Moth probably wouldn't be smooth sailing… But it should be fine.

After all, in Lee's perception, Kevin, in less than a month of training, had already gone from a power level comparable to a Chariot-class Honkai beast all the way up to something like a Judgment-class Honkai beast.

Unless Lee or Elysia personally intervened, there probably wasn't any combatant in Fire Moth who could give Kevin a hard time right now.

At this rate, Lee felt that her title of Strongest MANTLE (Human Protector) user might have to be relinquished in two or three years…

As expected of the chosen one, that protagonist halo is shining bright… Lee was genuinely envious.

It was a pity that although Kevin was strong, he had already been completely hooked by her… No matter how big the sheep grows, it will still obediently let her shear its wool!

After the concert incident, Lee focused on continuing to farm goodwill and preparing for the next Honkai eruption.

It's worth mentioning that Mei left Nagazora City earlier than in Lee's memories.

Originally, Mei joined Fire Moth after the 3rd Eruption, but this time, it seemed that Mobius, figuring that one less rival was better than none, interfered with Mei's review process, getting her into Fire Moth early and pulling her directly from Nagazora City to Fire Moth headquarters.

Mobius's actions made Lee a little sad—Mei's goodwill was maxed out, but Lee hadn't had time to farm much energy from her yet.

She had originally wanted to replicate Lihua's actions between Otto and Kallen, chatting and laughing with Kevin in front of Mei, and acting chummy with Mei in front of Kevin to farm energy. As a result, Mobius pulling Mei away had bankrupted Lee's plan before it even began.

She couldn't possibly act all lovey-dovey with Su in front of Kevin, could she? Although Su was beautiful, he was a guy.

If she dared to do that, Kevin's blood pressure would probably explode on the spot. The scene would be too bloody… Therefore, the kind-hearted Lee decided to consider this tactic after she had settled Su's karmic debt.

And so, time flew by, two months passing in a flash.

One morning, Lee suddenly opened her eyes from her sleep.

Her future vision activated: the 3rd Eruption was today!

Unfortunately, she didn't see the specific location where it would occur, otherwise, she could have camped the spawn point…

Filled with regret, after notifying all Fire Moth personnel in Nagazora City to be prepared, Lee silently pulled her katana from under the bed.

Not knowing where the Herrscher would first appear, to protect her high-end ATMs, Kevin and Su, she had to go to school first.
