The Social Queen Targeted by a Vampire

Chapter 12: Chapter 11: Mysterious Invitation: Hidden Plot

He Shiqing held the gold-stamped invitation letter in her hand, her fingertips stroking the exquisite paper. The smooth touch did not ease her inner doubts.

This invitation letter has no source, no detailed instructions, and no contact information. It is like a three-no product. There is no information except the time and place. The sender is as mysterious as an urban legend.

Could this be the death notice of a serial killer?

He Shiqing rubbed her arms, goose bumps appeared and she felt a tingling sensation.

Although she was doubtful in her heart, He Shiqing was not a coward. She wanted to see what was going on!

Moreover, she vaguely felt that this matter might be related to the previous magic herb mission.

According to the address on the invitation letter, He Shiqing came to a remote cottage on the outskirts of the city.

There was no one around, only a few crooked trees shivering in the night wind, the leaves rustling, like a scene from a horror movie.

There was a faint smell of decay in the air, mixed with the scent of unknown plants. The smell penetrated into He Shiqing's nose, making her frown.

The atmosphere was so eerie that she wondered if she had walked into the wrong set, and that a Sadako or something like that would pop up in the next second.

He Shiqing hesitated in front of the hut. She recalled all the grievances she had suffered when she was treated as an invisible person in the He family. She had survived those dark days, so how could she be scared by a mysterious invitation letter?

She took a deep breath and touched the dagger hidden in her sleeve. The cold touch came from her fingertips. She silently activated the system and added a defensive boost to herself.

"Forget it, fortune and honor are achieved through risk! Let's fight!" He Shiqing gritted her teeth and reached out to push open the door of the hut.

"Squeak--" The sound of the door hinge echoed in the silent night sky, like the sigh of an ancient ghost.

He Shiqing took a deep breath, as if to absorb all the fear into her lungs and then transform it into courage.

She stretched out her hand, which looked a little pale in the moonlight, and slowly pushed open the creaking wooden door.

Inside the door, unexpectedly, there was neither the expected eerie and terrifying atmosphere nor any lurking killers. It was empty, with only a lonely note pressed on the table by a small stone.

"What the hell is going on? Are you trying performance art?" He Shiqing complained, walking forward and picking up the note.

What was printed on the note was not words, but a bunch of distorted symbols, like some kind of ancient code.

She raised her eyebrows. Nowadays, if you want to scare people, you need some skills, right?

"System, start the translation function." He Shiqing said silently in her heart.

The next second, those strange symbols turned into a warning in her mind - "Don't interfere with the matter of magic herbs again, otherwise, you will bear the consequences." After reading it, He Shiqing almost laughed out loud, thinking to herself: "You think you can scare me with just this little trick? I, He Shiqing, was not brought up to be scared." Isn't this warning too weak?

And you have to bear the consequences at your own risk?

Who are you trying to scare!

Now she is a woman blessed by the system, who is afraid of her?

"Tsk, quite interesting." She curled her lips in disdain, feeling like she was provoked by the monsters when she just got the novice equipment in the game.

The empty little house seemed to have gained some vitality because of her confidence.

The smell of decay in the air dissipated a little, replaced by a sharp feeling that could not be ignored.

He Shiqing narrowed her eyes. Ever since she came to prominence in the Chamber of Commerce, various means have been used against her, both overtly and covertly.

It seems that she, the newborn "leek", has been targeted by some people.

This feeling of being secretly plotted against made her very unhappy.

When she was an invisible person in the He family, no one took her seriously.

Now that she has finally achieved some small success, someone can't wait to jump out and trip her up.

It really proves the saying that people are afraid of becoming famous just like pigs are afraid of getting fat. Before she even got fat, someone wanted to pluck her hair.

"Oh, you want me to back down? No way!" He Shiqing snorted coldly, her fingertips tightly pinching the note. The thin piece of paper made a "squeaking" sound in her hands as it could not bear the weight.

She felt a surge of anger burning in her chest. This feeling of being provoked actually aroused the pride and indomitable spirit in her bones.

Not only will she not back down, she will also find out who is behind this and make them pay the price!

"The rat hiding in the dark, just wait for me to pull it out!" She said gritting her teeth, her eyes firm and sharp, like a sword drawn from its sheath.

Suddenly, there was a rustling noise outside the door, and she turned around abruptly and looked towards the door.

He Shiqing wouldn't buy into the "you'll have to bear the consequences yourself" mentality.

Want to scare her?

It's just like showing off one's skills in front of an expert, waving a sword in front of Guan Gong!

She sneered and decisively turned on the system's built-in tracking function.

The symbols on the note appeared in front of her eyes like an activated circuit board, flashing a faint light, extending a virtual trajectory, circling in the air, and finally pointing in a certain direction.

The surrounding environment became blurred, as if shrouded by a layer of mist. Only the track was clearly visible, like a beacon in the dark night, guiding her in the direction of progress.

"Heh, you want to play hide-and-seek with me? I'll accompany you to the end!" He Shiqing raised a playful smile at the corner of her mouth and followed the trail without hesitation.

Her actions caught the people who were secretly doing bad things off guard.

They originally thought that a little girl who was still wet behind the ears would be scared to death after receiving the warning, but they didn't expect that she would actually turn the tables and track them down directly.

This anti-routine move was a real show-off!

The end point of the pursuit stopped at the door of an inconspicuous small room inside the Chamber of Commerce.

He Shiqing pushed the door open and walked in. Several furtive figures in the room froze instantly, like puppets with the pause button pressed.

The room was filled with the smell of cheap perfume mixed with sweat and tobacco. The pungent smell went straight into He Shiqing's nose and almost made her die on the spot.

She suppressed her discomfort, glanced at everyone, and finally locked onto a man with greasy hair and powdered face.

"Hey, isn't this the 'elite team' of our Chamber of Commerce?" He Shiqing folded her hands in front of her chest, narrowed her eyes slightly, and looked at Jeffrey with the eyes of examining her prey. This man who had tripped her up countless times was finally going to show his true colors in front of her today.

"Why, are you addicted to doing little tricks behind my back?"

The man she named was the leader of a small group in the Chamber of Commerce, named Jeffrey.

He often relied on his seniority to make things difficult for He Shiqing.

Needless to say, this warning came from him.

"You, what nonsense are you talking about!" Jeffrey shouted in a timid manner, but his eyes flickered and he did not dare to look directly into He Shiqing's eyes.

Several of his younger brothers behind him also echoed him, but their voices were obviously lacking in confidence, like a group of mice whose tails had been stepped on.

"Nonsense?" He Shiqing sneered and threw the note in her hand at Jeffrey's face. The note drew a sharp arc in the air.

The Chamber of Commerce members all widened their eyes, unable to believe that He Shiqing dared to question Jeffrey so openly. For a moment, the whole room was silent, and then there was a burst of discussions.

Jeffrey's face turned pale and blue, and he hesitated for a long time but couldn't utter a single word.

The Chamber of Commerce members who were watching the excitement nearby all looked at him in surprise, and there was a lot of discussion.

He Shiqing's aura was fully unleashed, like a queen descending, and the air in the entire room seemed to freeze.

After leaving the Chamber of Commerce, He Shiqing did not let down her guard.

She knew that a villain like Jeffrey would never let it go after suffering a loss.

When she returned to her residence, she was keenly aware that something was strange around her.

There was a subtle magical fluctuation in the air, like the residual trace of some kind of detection magic.

She squatted down and looked carefully at the ground, and found some tiny traces of dirt in the corners, as if someone had stepped on it...

"It seems that the real show has just begun." She whispered to herself.
