The Return of the Shadow Villain: My Role Is My CEO Wife's Furnace

Chapter 15: Chapter 15 - Myths About Worm Blood Moon

After getting into the car, the first thing that he did was grab his sling bag. Then he put in his personal belongings that were scattered all over the car. They had been rummaged through by the triplet earlier.

After everything was done, he started the car and began to hit the gas pedal.

Vroom!!!

The sound of the car shook the air. The wheels of the car he was driving scraped the road surface, signaling Ernest's departure from the cemetery.

He chose to take the rat road. He took a road that was not too common for people to pass through so that he would be less likely to be caught by the traffic police. Understandably, he didn't have a driver's license yet. If there was a traffic stop then he would be over. Moreover, the car he used was also a triplet car, aka a stolen car.

Driving slowly on the road, he felt an uneasy atmosphere.

It was already night, but according to the clock in the car, it was only seven o'clock, so there should still be some activities in the society.

Ernest put his head out of the window to look at the night sky. The radiance of the moon looked amazing. However, the moon strangely had a red glow.

He was reminded of Olivia's warning note.

Olivia's note advised Ernest to stay in the hotel. It was to prevent him from getting into danger during the lunar eclipse.

It was true that new magical phenomena had not occurred for about 10 years, but when the earth experienced some natural phenomena, magical phenomena still often occurred. One example would be when a lunar eclipse occurs like tonight. And when that happened, magical phenomena were almost guaranteed.

- Tonight, March 3, 2026, you will be able to see the worm blood moon in the sky.

The radio voice that Ernest had played earlier informed himself in more detail.

- Ok, I'll start telling you about some myths about the worm blood moon...

The voice of the radio announcer who couldn't wait to tell the story sounded very excited.

The Emotion of Gods, Harbinger of Disaster, and other myths started coming out of the radio announcer's mouth.

Ernest didn't want to believe the radio announcer's nonsense. But he remembered the note left by Olivia. So, he concluded that some of the myths told by the radio announcer had come true from some perspective.

- An announcement from the government has come. For all the people, please stay indoors tonight. The police and military have been deployed in several places to prevent any monster attacks that may occur.

When the police and military were mentioned, Ernest began to frown. Not because he was afraid of being arrested, but because he saw absolutely no sign of their presence anywhere.

It was then that the radio announcer told him the reason.

- This was unfortunate, but there were still some places that the police and military could not reach. It is said that those places are inhabited only by members of underground gangs.

- Yes. There was a case in the past where the police and military were killed not because of monsters, but because of the people living in those areas. Besides, if it were ordinary citizens, they would have left those places already, so I can understand why the government chose to leave those places unguarded.

The male radio announcer responded to the female radio announcer.

The theme discussed by the two radio announcers shifted to mentioning which places were in zones that were not protected by the police and military.

Surprisingly, the place where Ernest was currently located was one of the places listed by the two radio announcers. That place was the Milk District.

Why didn't the government intervene in this place? Is the power of the underground gangs bigger than the government?

Several questions that were more like grumbles appeared in his head.

Ernest sped up his car as he wanted to get out of Milk District as soon as possible.

Along the way, he saw many old buildings that were about to collapse.

It seemed like the result of the war a long time ago.

Although the buildings were very dull with holes in the glass on each floor, smoke could still be seen billowing on the rooftops of the buildings, indicating that people were active there.

Ernest immediately thought that those buildings must be the headquarters of an underground gang in this area.

"Hmm... What is it?"

His focus on driving was distracted when he saw something from one of the buildings that was about to collapse.

Bang! Bang!

The sound of gunshots echoed repeatedly.

Even though Ernest was in the car, he could still hear the gunshots. Maybe it was because this area was so quiet that the echo of the gunshots rang clearly in his ears.

Is there a battle with monsters nearby? Since this place was a place without police and military protection, he guessed that the people fighting must be gang members here. There was no way ordinary citizens would live here.

'Are they hunting monsters?

There was a possibility that those fighting were awakened people, but he shook his head because all he heard were gunshots.

It was common knowledge that guns were useless against monsters. So there was no way they were hunting monsters.

The sound Ernest should have heard was the sound of metal clashing if there were indeed awakened people hunting monsters.

So, most likely they were non-awakened underground gang members fighting.

'Looks like fun. Should I look around first?'

He briefly wondered whether or not he should interfere in other people's business. If he approached the origin of the gunshots, he would automatically get involved. But he chose the general option, which was not to interfere carelessly.

'Em... Let it be.'

He ignored the gunshots.

The longer he drove his car, strangely, the gunshots he heard were getting closer. Until finally, he could tell you that the gunshots were coming from one of the buildings near him.

He wanted to take a detour to avoid passing the building, but before he could make the turn, there was already a stray bullet flying towards the car he was driving. He couldn't actually see the bullet, but it was the impact of the shot that told him.

Bang!

Crash!

The windshield of his car shattered into pieces. The shards of glass flew haphazardly through the air.

"Tch!"

Reflexively, Ernest looked down because he didn't want any glass shards to hit him in the face. Although there was a shard of glass that managed to graze his cheek until it bled a little. At the same time, he slammed the steering wheel.

Squeal!!!

The sound of his car tires scraping against the paved road was heard squealing. Ernest had braked so hard that the black color filled the road like a calligraphic stream.
