The kiss was long and it felt like forever even though it was their first time doing this.

It is like the entire world has disappeared in the background, leaving them in their own world, living their fantasies and exploring each other in ways that they wouldn't if they had people around them.

And when they finally pulled back to catch their breaths, reality did dawn on them a little too fast.

"Oh goddess… what did I just do?" Hudhayfah asked, his voice panicked as he stepped back from Trey and turned to look around them.

He had offered to step out to talk to the people who had come and yet he had turned it into a hot make-out session with his mate, the man his heart had been constantly calling for.

He had been so lost in his little word with Trey that he had forgotten what he had come out for. All it had taken was for Trey to call him

an angelic Perihan

and he was gone for the man. Oh, but this was so new for Hudhayfah that he felt like disappearing.

"Hey… Focus on me, baby. Just me, alright?" Trey said when he noticed the healer having a panic attack. He could tell that it was eating him a lot, so Trey pulled Hudhayfah into a hug so tight and warm, one that made Hudhayfah feel like he was safe and belonged.

Of course, he belonged in Trey's arms, there was no denying that.

It was a given and as Trey coaxed the haler into breathing with him, he couldn't help but be thankful for it. And when the panic attack went away, Hudhayfah found himself holding onto Trey so tightly, like he was scared of looking around.

He was supposed to be the elder one here, after Malika, the one who never ran headfirst into situations, and yet he had managed to make a fool of himself.

He had been so entranced with Trey that he forgot about what was important and now he wasn't sure he wanted to look at the warriors and people who had thought there was a danger.

Well, that was going to be a little hard to explain, especially now that Trey Russel was for the same family that had cost them the white wolf and their alphas. This was insanity.

"They'll hate me… Oh my goodness, why did I—" Hudhayfah rambled with shut eyes because he didn't want to see for himself the shock and disappointment on the faces of the Savasci knights.

He wouldn't be able to handle the chaos that was bound to follow, so he stood there stiff, as he turned off his super hearing because he was scared of what he would hear. He wanted to disappear, sincerely and that was scary as hell for him.

This had never happened and that too with their common enemy.

What the fuck was Hudhayfah supposed to say when they asked for an expansion? That he had let himself be vulnerable with his mate what happened to the one of the devils they had spent the past years hunting?

What the hell was he even going to say?

"You're cute," Trey whispered as he kissed Hudhayfah's ears gently before nibbling on them like it was the only thing he could do. Perhaps there was more he could do, but feeling Hudhayfah's involuntary shiver against him was worth it.

"Please kill me now. I can't face them like this," Hudhayfah pleaded once they pulled back from the hug and Trey was still standing in front of him. He didn't know if he needed to run away or just walk himself to the dungeons this time.

What the hell was he supposed to do now that he had proven to be a disappointment to them? How the hell was he even to explain the mess he had gotten himself entangled into?

"Honestly, I'd say we ran away, but I promised I wouldn't run away, angel. Besides, they know they can't fight the mate bond, this is bound to come sooner or later, don't you think? I love you. You love me.

"And we are mates who have been seeking each other out for twelve hundred years. That is a force that not even the moon goddess can dare to fuck around with, so relax my beautiful angel.

"You'll be fine," Trey said and Hudhayfah glared at him.

This wasn't the time for the man to try making jokes about the situation, they had fucked up and more than anything, Hudhayfah had disappointed his team members. This wasn't what he should have done and now he didn't know how to get back up from it.

What the hell was he even to do now?

"This is all your fault," Hudhayfah accused and Trey just smiled sheepishly at him.

"I love you, Perihan," Trey teased.

"I hate you."

"I know, angel, I know," Trey said as he kissed Hudhayfah's forehead one more time.

"Open your eyes for me, Perihan," Trey cooed and Hudhayfah felt like he was going to die of embarrassment. This wasn't part of his plan and he wasn't sure if the kids that had been around them earlier would like what they saw.

"No… I betrayed my people for you. They won't forgive me for this betrayal and honestly, I wouldn't forgive myself for it either," Hudhayfah said as he clutched his head between his hands in defeat and shame.

This way more than he had bargained for and the fact that he couldn't even blame someone for his messes was driving him nuts. Oh, he hated the mate bond and how it was making him feel.

His mind was objecting to this in every way, while his heart was desperate to cling onto Trey for as long as they could hold onto each other it wasn't that hard for him, but damn his heart for still staying excited with every breath that he felt from Trey.

"It's okay, trust me," Trey said and Hudhayfah opened his eyes instinctively, making himself groan in disapproval. He hadn't intended to give in, but then Trey was the love of his life and he had no reason to distrust Trey, right?

"See… You're doing good, angel… You're doing really good," Trey said in earnest and Hudhayfah felt like he needed to make a run for it. Perhaps he could create a poet who disappears, right? Surely there had to be a way around this.

"Don't you even think of creating a portal away, angel. I won't let you go," Trey insisted firmly and the healer sighed. This was going to be a long morning for him and he hated himself for it.

How the fuck had they gone from whining about the queen Kia to him being in the hands of his mate, getting ravaged in the name of a kiss, and now staring here with the reminder that he may have just betrayed his people?

"They are waiting for us inside, angel," Trey said and that was all it took for Hudhayfah to turn around sharply to scan the surroundings. There was no one around, not the watch warriors, not the Savasci knights, not Amina, no nothing save for the open Sicario gates.

"Fuck me."

"I'll definitely do that, but once we sorry things out with your friends."

"You're crazy, let's go inside."

"Thought you'd never ask… after you, my precious angel."
