Chapter 157: The Phoenix's Departure
"Probably not." Harry agreed in a dry voice.
"But...I don't understand...Fawkes...he should have told me if you had fallen down such a dark path!" Dumbledore cried with disbelief.
"Ah yes, because all phoenix's are 'light' creatures." Harry snorted in amusement. "Tell me Dumbledore, if that was true then do you really think that Fawkes would stay with the guy who was fine with an innocent man suffering if it meant that he could control and manipulate a child by placing him in a home with abusive relatives?" Dumbledore flinched as if he was physically stuck. "But there is another reason, did you know that Helga Hufflepuff had a phoenix?" Harry asked, judging by the look on Dumbledore's face he didn't know that. "In a book that she had written, she mentioned how a phoenix would favour the side that magic needed. My theory is that people associate phoenix's with goodness because the majority of the time the world needed the 'light side'. Fawkes chose you because you were needed, against Grindelwald and against Voldemort. But when you didn't do what was necessary against Voldemort then Fawkes's bond with you started getting weaker."
"I think I can guess who he will bond to next." Harry-Apophis said as he gestured to regular Harry. "After Hedwig, Dobby and Selena, we've gotten good at telling when something wants to bond with us. Can you imagine it?"
"Oh yeah," Harry grinned. "the whole world will think that Harry Potter is the great champion of the light because he has a phoenix."
"Perhaps Fawkes was merely staying with Dumbledore until he died, then he would bond with you." Voldemort guessed.
"Perhaps," Harry nodded at that. "it's not impossible for him to be attached after so many years."
"And isn't it interesting how we will end up with not just a basilisk, but also a phoenix?" Harry-Apophis commented. "The ultimate symbols of light and darkness."
"Exactly," Harry said, looking at Dumbledore. "that's the difference between the three of us."
"Ahem." Harry-Apophis coughed.
"That's the difference between the four of us," Harry corrected. "you and Voldemort are so far on the opposite ends of the scale, me and him...we're right in the middle. You believe in saving all life, he wants to kill it all and I want to save the savable. Once I'm through with you and Tom, I'm going to change this world for the better. I'm going to make it a world where me and my family can happily live in peace. A world where I don't have to worry about me, or Sirius or Fleur and Tonks getting killed because of some bastard who has nothing to show other than blood."
"But the prophecy!" Dumbledore said, sounding like he was grasping at straws. "It said that you had to defeat Tom."
"Hmm...did it though?" Harry said with a thoughtful look. "What was the exact wording of it?"
"It goes like this, 'The one with the power to vanquish the Dark Lord approaches... born to those who have thrice defied him, born as the seventh month dies... and the Dark Lord will mark him as his equal, but he will have power the Dark Lord knows not... and either must die at the hand of the other for neither can live while the other survives... the one with the power to vanquish the Dark Lord will be born as the seventh month dies...', and that's about it." Harry-Apophis answered. "A funny thing about prophecy's is that they don't all come true, many of them are also self fulfilling."
"That also sounds like it's open to interpretation." Harry replied. "I mean it doesn't even state which calendar to use."
"Nor does it specify who the dark lord is." Harry-Apophis added. "I mean we've all done things that would make people call us dark lords."
"And that does include you Dumbledore," Harry said. "I mean planning to kill children, leaving them in abusive environments, trick dangerous murders into trying to steal an item from schools full of children, and so on and so forth." Dumbledore really didn't like Harry's way of interpreting the prophecy, admittedly James and Lily had defied him a few times as members of the order but he was not a dark lord! He had done everything for the benefit of others, hadn't he? "That's why I'm doing this Dumbledore, you and Voldy are the two biggest players in this game, once you're both dealt with I will finally be free." Harry said as he stood up, Voldemort instantly banished the chair away for him.
"I...I will stop you, Harry!" Dumbledore said in a determined voice.
"Oh, and how are you planning to do that?" Harry smirked. "You're dying Dumbledore, you're poisoned, chained to a basin and wandless."
"You of all people should know, not to underestimate another wizard until he is dead." Dumbledore said, mentally reviewing his plan to wandlessly escape these chains. He might be able to quickly throw a wandless blasting charm and then he could hopefully escape, it would be hard with his broken hands and without the use of his legs but it could work.
"Oh Dumbledore," Harry responded with an amused laugh. "do I look like your standard monologuing villain?"
"Have fun." Harry-Apophis said to Harry before he took Selena from him and stepped off the island and into the boat along with Voldemort before pushing the boat away from the island.
"What are you doing?" Dumbledore's eyes narrowed.
"Well they couldn't stay on the island, could they? They'd affect the ritual." Harry responded in a way that sounded like Dumbledore had missed something very obvious.
"Ritual?!" Dumbledore gasped as fear made itself present on his face. There were plenty of dangerous rituals that could be done with an unwilling victim and he wanted no part in any of them.
"Yes, we had set it up while you were unconscious, it just needed some time to power up." Harry explained. "Now shut up, I'm about to start." Harry said in a calm voice but Dumbledore did not really feel like complying. With a lot of effort Dumbledore wandlessly broke the chains. He took a quick breath, and when he did so he noticed that Harry didn't seem all the bothered. Dumbledore tried to move but didn't get too far as Harry began chanting in parsletounge.
The second that Harry began chanting Dumbledore froze as unimaginable pain surged through his body, Dumbledore screamed as if the cruciatus curse had been cast on him, Dumbledore didn't know how long it lasted but it felt like an eternity. Once it was done Dumbledore found himself lying on his left side, blood pouring out of his mouth, his body convulsing as he looked up at Harry who had an almost unbelievably happy look on his face.
"Oh fuck!" Harry gasped out at the orgasmic like experience his whole body was feeling. "That's the good shit!" He laughed loudly, his laughs ringed painfully in Dumbledore's ears.
"What...what did...what did you do to me?" Dumbledore asked weakly, even talking felt ridiculously hard.
"Oh it's quite simple Dumbledore," Harry said as he kneeled down and looked at him. "I took your magic." He said, the smile not leaving his face. Dumbledore had gone ghostly pale at that, his magic?! He couldn't have lost his magic! Anything but his magic! Life in Azkaban or a lost limb would have been better than losing his magic! "Cruel, I know," Harry shrugged. "but you owe me a life time and I have a ton of enemies, even after dealing with you and Voldemort I'll will probably still have some. Plus you're not using it after tonight anyway."
"W...what?"
"Dumbledore," Harry tutted, sounding very disappointed. "how could you forget? You planned to die tonight, we can't change the plan now. It's far too late for that."
