Chapter 23: Dao Affinity
The whole class was silent, and all eyes were fixed on him. Most of the gazes were filled with shock, others were scrutinizing gazes. The few smart ones in the class were able to see through the game and were able to understand its purpose.
Mo Xuan himself was feeling uneasy inside. He already had the feeling that Mo Shen was stronger than him earlier on when he saw him, but he couldn't help but doubt. Afterall, he was in the 9th stage of the Empyrean realm, someone who was stronger than him would be in the Origin Dao realm, so he couldn't help but doubt that feeling.
But now that the game had ended, he was able to see many things. It wasn't just Jing Xue that learnt about Mo Shen from the game, Mo Xuan did, and he learnt more than Jing Xue. He was able to sense slight aura of the Dao.
When he was young, he had a fortuitous encounter, and was able to receive the inheritance of an ancient Dao Lord. It was there he learnt Divination, and he was able to reach the 9th stage of the Empyrean realm before 20,000 years of age. The inheritance was incomplete, so his cultivation couldn't progress further, but he still felt the aura of the Dao.
And now, he felt that same aura of the Dao on Mo Shen, except that Mo Shen's own was far stronger and more oppressive.
"All of you had watched the game, now let me start the class by explaining it." Mo Xuan said as the class settled down. Although he was feeling uneasy, there was nothing he could do except to continue his class and hope Mo Shen will not settle accounts with him.
For the rest of the class, Mo Shen listened well. He paid the most attention to Mo Xuan's analysis of the game. In fact, he felt that with this analysis, he had already fully learnt how to play chess. But there was no harm in taking the class till the end of the year.
He felt Mo Xuan's uneasiness, but he didn't pay heed to him. It wasn't just because Mo Xuan was the grand-ancestor of the empire, or his teacher. He just didn't feel the need to. He wouldn't deal with each and everyone that offends him lightly or try to test him, if not, he might as well become a serial killer.
In this world even the strong could be offended. As long as they don't attempt to harm him physically or hurt his family, he would simply brush over it, at least most of the times. After all there was always an exception to every thing.
When the class ended, Mo Shen left immediately. He had Painting class next. When he decided on taking the painting class, he wasn't pursuing perfection, he just wanted to learn how to draw and paint. Who knows when he'll need it in the future.
But after a few classes, he decided to learn it to perfection. He discovered that he could project his dao and use it to paint. With painting, he could have better control of his Dao. And he could also use it to preach to others the Dao. Although, that will be when he was more proficient in it. He could also comprehend the World in an ink Dao which was a supreme dao related to painting.
They were halfway into the class and the teacher, a beautiful woman in the Empyrean realm, told Mo Shen to draw a full portrait of her. Her name was Yue Kui.
It wasn't Mo Shen's first time in the class, so he already knew the basics of painting, and he also understood the eccentricities of the teacher. She was quite loose, and even once tried flirting with Mo Shen in the class. Mo Shen had outright ignored her, which made her to take note of him. It all led to her appointing him to draw her today in front of the class.
Mo Shen stood up from his seat and walked to the front of the class where a large painting board was, laid with a white fine skin usually used for painting. He took one glance at the teacher, before he began. He knew that she would not stay in one place for him to draw her, so he might as well study her physical features first before starting.
He closed his eyes and began drawing the picture he had in his mind. His eyes were kept closed throughout the time he was drawing. It wasn't just to better see the picture in his mind, after all he could do it well with his eyes opened, he was instead simulating the Dao on the painting.
He had noticed that Yue Kui had affinity to Water and Wind element similar to her personality. This led Mo Shen to remember a supreme Dao, Wind flows like Water. Although he hadn't comprehended it, but he learnt about it from the memories of the entities he devoured. A past owner of the Ancient God blood comprehended that Dao.
Looking at Yue Kui's personality and inner self, he could see traces of the Wind flows like water Dao. It was not impossible to comprehend the dao by thoroughly studying her body structure and it's relation to the dao which reflects in her character.
It wasn't his first time noticing such things. He had discovered that those with high talent usually had a good affinity with an Emperor dao. Others with average or poor talent had affinity with ordinary ranked dao and emperor ranked dao.
Yue Kui was another person he discovered to have an affinity with a supreme ranked dao. His parents, his aunt, his sister and Mo Fan all had affinity to supreme ranked dao. It could tell that her talent was very good. Despite how eccentric she was, she was already in the 4th stage of the Empyrean realm when she was less than 30,000 years.
He discovered that that affinity could only be present in this world of the Dao universe. It was like a compensation for the world for not having the ability to enter the dao. If the Dao universe should get a chance of entering the dao, it would produce a lot of geniuses compared to other worlds. It's world level might even increase to a 4th Heaven world.
As Mo Shen began drawing, the whole class fell silent. Some could tell he wasn't just drawing Yue Kui, there was something more to the artwork. In Mo Shen's mind, Yue Kui's facial features had been replaced by the Wind flows like water dao. She was green-coloured like the wind with waves of blue around it representing water.
Mo Shen lost sense of time while drawing. Sometimes he would clean up the whole drawing and start all over, other times he would just clean up a part and redo it. The process lasted for 5 hours. The class had long ended, but none of the students left. They were all curious to see the final result of the painting.
After 5 hours of drawing and painting, Mo Shen opened his eyes for the first time. He could already sense that he had comprehended the Wind flows like water dao completely to the first stage. It was the 12th supreme dao he had comprehended. And this was also the one that took him the shortest time to comprehend.
It seemed that by studying people with affinity to supreme dao in the Dao universe, he could also comprehend that dao, at least to the first stage which was enough for him. The dao had twelve stages, and the first stage was the foundation. Comprehending the first stage of each Supreme dao was enough to lay a foundation for the Divine throne dao.
The whole class remained silent after Mo Shen finished his drawing. The silence lasted for about 10 minutes. They weren't just in a shock for 10 mins, they were all in a bout of enlightenment, especially Yue Kui. It was like paving a road to the dao for her. The next time she looked at Mo Shen, there was only respect in her eyes.
The other students also gained a lot. Some of them broke through a bottleneck that had been holding them down for long, some had a breakthrough in their mental states. Almost all of them gained a lot. But there was one student who Mo Shen noticed that saw the light to the dao.
He was a frail handsome young man who was under 500 years. He had dark red hair, signifying he was from the royal family, but his frail build said otherwise. He looked as frail as a mortal scholar.
Mo Shen could feel the resonance of one of the supreme daos from the student, Poison Yin supreme dao. The man also had a pure supreme physique, the poison yin physique.
Physiques are like a representation of physical affinity to the dao. What Yue Kui had was a spiritual affinity to her dao.
All supreme and emperor daos have their corresponding body physiques. Those born with a particular physique can only comprehend the dao of their physique, but their comprehension of it is going to be very fast without much bottle-necks.
So for the student to have a spiritual and physical affinity to the Poison Yin dao, it was quite rare. Maybe this situation could only happen in the Dao Universe. It was also the reason for his frail physical feature. As physiques are related to the dao, they can only thrive in places with the dao.
In a world like the Dao universe where the dao was present but was locked out, most people born with supreme physiques will hardly live past the age of 500 years, and those with emperor physiques will hardly live past the age of 1000 years.
This was because each special physique contained the physical condensation of the particular dao as a seed, and if it can't be in touch with the dao, it will keep on getting compressed and condensed, unable to grow or bear fruit until it reaches a point where it explodes, leading the cultivator to their death.
In the end, with their death, the exploded particles of the seed will return to the world, enhancing the dao of that world. It was no wonder the dao of the Dao universe was so thick. If cultivators could comprehend the dao here, they will do it faster than those in 9th heaven worlds.
