Chapter 64: Chapter 64: What's the Real Reason
Who should I sell to?
Jaxon hesitated in his mind.
Although he had reached a verbal agreement with Zhao Yanan yesterday, as Mr. Liu had pointed out, it was just a verbal agreement with no binding force. He could easily change his mind.
Selling to Mr. Liu? Jaxon was not very willing, especially seeing the other party's domineering and bullying attitude, as if he had already decided to take advantage of Jaxon. It made Jaxon feel uncomfortable.
Do you think that just because you offer a high price, I will definitely sell to you?
I won't!
"Mr. Jaxon, please trust me and sell this batch of timber to me," Zhao Yanan looked at Jaxon with a pleading expression, her attitude even more humble than before.
"Mr. Jaxon, think carefully," Mr. Liu said, his tone a mix of reminder and warning. "If you sell the timber to me, not only will you get a high price, but you will also receive cash. If you sell it to her, you might lose everything! I think Mr. Jaxon must understand the difference."
"Of course I understand," Jaxon said. "However, once I've made a decision, I won't easily change it. So, I'm selling this batch of timber to Ms. Zhao."
"Thank you, thank you," Zhao Yanan said with gratitude.
"Humph!" Seeing that the deal was almost impossible to close, Mr. Liu's attitude towards Jaxon also cooled. He said coldly, "I have to remind you that you may have made a very wrong decision."
"That's none of my concern," Jaxon said casually. "It's just some rosewood. I don't really care about it. If I lose money, so be it."
What Jaxon said was indeed what he thought. In the forest of the game world, there was still plenty of rosewood and other precious timber. Even if he couldn't get the payment for this batch of rosewood, as Mr. Liu had said, Jaxon wouldn't really suffer any loss. After all, he hadn't paid a high price to obtain these things in the first place.
This was also the reason why Jaxon dared to sell the timber to Zhao Yanan. Without caring about the potential loss, Jaxon naturally did what made him happy instead of worrying about gains and losses.
However, in the ears of Zhao Yanan and Mr. Liu, Jaxon's words sounded a bit boastful. Rosewood was not ordinary timber. The batch Jaxon had brought was worth nearly ten million. Even those big bosses wouldn't dare to say that they didn't care about such a sum of money.
However, Zhao Yanan would not say anything to Jaxon, while Mr. Liu's face showed undisguised contempt, thinking that Jaxon was just boasting.
Jaxon also noticed their disbelief, but he didn't explain, nor could he. How could he say that he had plenty of precious timber resources, and this batch was just a small, insignificant part, only used for testing the waters?
"I hope Mr. Jaxon can still be so relaxed when he doesn't get the payment in two months," Mr. Liu said.
"That won't trouble Mr. Liu to worry about," Jaxon replied.
Seeing that the deal was not going to happen, Mr. Liu saw no need to stay here any longer. Staying would only make him feel frustrated.
However, when he was about to leave, Mr. Liu still seemed reluctant to give up, or perhaps he was puzzled. "Can you tell me why you won't sell to me? I want to know the real reason. Is it because of her?"
Mr. Liu clearly didn't believe Jaxon's previous explanation. How could a businessman refuse a deal just because of a surname? He thought that Zhao Yanan might have used some other means, such as her beauty.
Even Mr. Liu had to admit that Zhao Yanan was a rare beauty. Jaxon was a young and energetic man. It was normal for him to be charmed. If that was the reason, Mr. Liu would accept it, but he would use this to strike back at Zhao Yanan and tarnish her reputation.
Jaxon subconsciously glanced at Zhao Yanan. He had to admit that Mr. Liu's suspicion that he was charmed by Zhao Yanan's beauty made sense. Zhao Yanan indeed had that kind of appeal.
However, that was not the reason for Jaxon.
Instead, Zhao Yanan, seeing Jaxon looking at her, blushed slightly and lowered her head a bit. She was thinking to herself, could it be that Jaxon agreed to the deal with her because of her beauty?
Zhao Yanan was very confident in her appearance. From childhood, she had always been considered a beauty, receiving no shortage of praise and admiration.
To be honest, although Zhao Yanan was grateful to Jaxon in her heart for rejecting Mr. Liu's high price, she was also suspicious about why Jaxon did so. She and Jaxon didn't have any particular relationship. Why didn't Jaxon choose Mr. Liu, who offered a higher price and could pay in cash immediately?
Was it really because of her?
Zhao Yanan didn't know what she should feel now—should she be proud or angry?
"Of course not," Jaxon said, interrupting Zhao Yanan's random thoughts. "As for the reason, I've already mentioned it. I don't like doing business with bosses surnamed Liu. This is not just a made-up excuse but my genuine feeling. Also, I don't like the way Mr. Liu does business."
Ever since he had been deceived by the shop owner surnamed Liu in the game world, Jaxon had been reluctant to deal with him. Of course, he wouldn't really refuse to do business with all bosses surnamed Liu just because of that. That would be absurd.
The real reason Jaxon rejected the Mr. Liu in front of him was that his way of doing business was similar to that of the shop owner, which Jaxon disliked. Moreover, the other party's domineering attitude made Jaxon even more uncomfortable.
In the past, even if he felt uncomfortable, Jaxon would have had no choice but to swallow his pride and deal with Mr. Liu, after all, he was in need of money. Who could afford to turn down money? However, Jaxon was different now, and his mindset had changed.
In fact, if time permitted, Jaxon could sell this batch of timber to Mr. Liu first, make a profit, and then go back to the forest to cut more and sell to Zhao Yanan.
However, time did not allow it. After returning to the game world, Jaxon had to prepare to report to the county office. He couldn't afford to be late, so he didn't have extra time to cut timber.
"Humph!" Mr. Liu's face turned red with anger at Jaxon's words. After a cold snort, he left without looking back.
"Thank you for trusting me, Mr. Jaxon. Rest assured, I will transfer the payment to you on time," Zhao Yanan thanked Jaxon again after Mr. Liu left.
"Since I've chosen to do business with Ms. Zhao, I naturally trust you," Jaxon said.
"Thank you," Zhao Yanan said. "Your trust has really been a great help to me."
