Chapter 62: Chapter 62: The Ultimate Rosewood
"Good morning."
On the playground of Goldenleaf University, Jaxon saw Chloe again and greeted her out of habit.
"Good morning."
Chloe's reply was also just one word, and she didn't seem to have any intention of stopping at all.
"Why does it feel like her tone is even colder than before?" Jaxon muttered to himself.
Initially, Jaxon thought that because of yesterday's events, the relationship between him and Chloe would at least become a bit closer than before. However, he didn't expect that Chloe would still be so cold, and her tone was even more indifferent.
Feeling somewhat puzzled, Jaxon didn't dare to chase after her and ask. He just continued to warm up and exercise as usual.
Seeing that Jaxon had no intention of catching up, Chloe's expression seemed to become even colder.
Throughout the entire exercise, Jaxon and Chloe had no further communication.
After leaving Goldenleaf University, Jaxon didn't head directly to the timber market. Instead, he took a taxi to the outskirts and got off at a relatively secluded spot. After the driver left, he took out the processed timber from his backpack.
Then, Jaxon called a truck rental company, saying that he had a batch of timber that needed to be transported and asked them to come and pick it up.
"When I have more money, I should rent a warehouse of my own," Jaxon muttered to himself, looking at the desolate surroundings.
Jaxon would definitely sell timber, as well as vegetables, fruits, and so on in the future. It would be very inconvenient without a warehouse.
The truck arrived quickly and didn't keep Jaxon waiting for long. Then, Jaxon followed the truck driver to the timber market.
When they arrived at the timber market, Jaxon found that Zhao Yanan, the beautiful woman he had met yesterday, was already waiting in the store.
"Mr. Jaxon, you're here," Zhao Yanan quickly greeted him as she saw him get off the truck, but her eyes were examining the cargo compartment of the truck.
"Ms. Zhao, I've brought the timber. Please have someone appraise it," Jaxon said to Zhao Yanan.
"Sure," Zhao Yanan, whose mind was already on the timber, didn't beat around the bush and immediately had a middle-aged man behind her go up to the cargo compartment to check the authenticity and quality of the timber.
Since rosewood is expensive and in high demand, the market is never short of fakes. Therefore, appraisal is definitely necessary before any transaction.
"Mr. Jaxon, please come in and have a cup of tea," Zhao Yanan said to Jaxon.
Jaxon nodded. The appraisal would take some time, and he couldn't just stand here doing nothing.
"How much timber did Mr. Jaxon bring this time?" Zhao Yanan casually asked while pouring tea for Jaxon.
"Not sure," Jaxon replied. "I didn't weigh it before I brought it here."
In fact, although rosewood is considered very valuable to others, even a difference of tens of kilograms means a lot of money, Jaxon didn't really care that much. There was plenty of it in the forest behind the small mountain village, so he didn't bother to be overly meticulous.
Hearing Jaxon's words, Zhao Yanan wasn't sure whether Jaxon was just being careless or didn't really care about this amount of rosewood. If it was the former, it was nothing to worry about; she had no intention of cheating Jaxon. However, if it was the latter, she felt it was necessary to build a good relationship with Jaxon.
Not caring about rosewood was clearly not ordinary.
The person Zhao Yanan had brought in was apparently very experienced in appraising the quality of timber. Before Jaxon could finish his cup of tea, the appraisal was already done.
"Boss, the timber on the truck is indeed rosewood, and the quality is excellent, with high density and a good feel. It's top-grade," the middle-aged man said. He then added with a sigh, "I haven't seen such high-quality rosewood in the market for a long time."
Zhao Yanan was slightly taken aback. She didn't expect the middle-aged man to give such a high evaluation of the timber Jaxon had brought. To prevent being cheated, Zhao Yanan had brought in a master with extensive experience and broad knowledge in this field to help her with the appraisal. The master had seen countless valuable timbers in the past, but she didn't expect such a high evaluation this time.
It seemed that the timber Jaxon had brought was indeed of the highest quality. While Zhao Yanan was slightly excited, she was also worried. Initially, Zhao Yanan thought that even if the timber Jaxon brought was real rosewood, the quality wouldn't be very high. After all, rosewood is rare, and top-grade rosewood is even rarer. Jaxon, who clearly looked like a newcomer, wouldn't be able to get it.
However, even if it wasn't top-grade, as long as it was rosewood, Zhao Yanan would take it.
But the result now was beyond Zhao Yanan's expectation. The timber Jaxon brought was not only genuine but also top-grade.
Having top-grade rosewood was, of course, the best. Furniture and crafts made from such timber would sell without any problem. However, because it was top-grade, Zhao Yanan was worried that her offer wouldn't satisfy Jaxon, and the deal in hand would fall through.
After sending off the appraisal master, Zhao Yanan pondered for a while before speaking to Jaxon: "Mr. Huang is truly remarkable. He managed to get hold of top-grade rosewood. Such high-quality timber is not something an ordinary person can obtain."
"Ms. Zhao is flattering me," Jaxon said modestly. "I was just lucky. It's not really a skill."
Jaxon was actually telling the truth. He hadn't expected that the mountain he had taken over would hide such a great treasure. There was not only rosewood but also of such high quality. It was indeed luck, not skill.
At the same time, Jaxon's impression of Zhao Yanan improved further.
In Jaxon's view, Zhao Yanan could have easily had the appraiser tell her the result privately without letting him know. Then, she could have deceived him about the quality.
Of course, deception would definitely not have succeeded. With his appraisal skill and advanced logging skills, his understanding of timber information was not inferior to those so-called appraisers, and even better than them.
However, Zhao Yanan didn't know that he had such abilities. Therefore, allowing the appraiser to announce the result publicly made Jaxon think that Zhao Yanan was an upright person, someone trustworthy.
In fact, the reason Zhao Yanan didn't have the appraiser tell her the result privately was that she believed Jaxon, who was selling such precious timber, must have already had it appraised before sending it. There was no need to hide it deliberately, and it might have made Jaxon unhappy. It turned out to be a fortunate mistake.
After hearing Jaxon's words, Zhao Yanan thought he was just being modest. In this industry, being able to obtain rosewood was already a symbol of strength. Moreover, it was this kind of top-grade rosewood. It was definitely not something that could be achieved just by being lucky.
