The Magic Merchant in Fairy Tail

Chapter 86: Chapter 86: A World of Ice and Fire

Kira and Ace's gazes locked, the tension between them almost tangible as their auras clashed. Sparks seemed to ignite in the air, the anticipation building as both combatants silently gathered their magic, each analyzing the other for weaknesses.

Then, without warning, the man and the demon charged, their sudden sprints sending ripples through the snow. Waves of snowflakes erupted into the air, shimmering briefly before settling back down.

They met in mid-air, fists and arms colliding with resounding force. What followed was a storm of physical combat, their strikes coming in rapid succession. Fists met fists, feet clashed against legs, each move a calculated mix of raw power and practiced skill.

Ace marveled at Kira's combat ability. For a human wizard, this kid's close-combat skills are impressive.

Meanwhile, Kira gritted his teeth, every blow reverberating through his bones. This guy's body is absurd! If I hadn't prepared [Melee Mode], I'd have been outclassed already!

[Melee Mode] was one of Kira's innovations—a set of magically enhanced states tailored for physical confrontations. Designed to amplify physical attributes such as [Strength], [Speed], and [Defense], it also came with secondary effects like [Critical Hit], [Damage Reduction], and [Immunity].

Activated via magic-infused items, it worked like armor, seamlessly integrating buffs without the need for manual enchantment.

Erza, observing the fight from a distance, was amazed. "When did Kira become so proficient in close combat? He never used to be this skilled!"

Despite his enhanced abilities, Kira knew close combat wasn't his forte. He was buying time to create space for his magic—his real strength.

Feigning an opening, Kira broke away from the clash, retreating several steps. Ace, interpreting this as exhaustion, smirked.

"What's wrong, kid? Is that all you've got? I haven't even started!"

"Haven't started?" Kira mocked. "Then let me help you warm up! Hot Hell!"

Kira unleashed his Word Magic, transforming the icy battlefield into a scorching inferno.

Snow and ice evaporated instantly, replaced by a fiery wasteland. Thick mist rose into the air, swirling chaotically as flames consumed the frozen ground. For the first time in millennia, the soil beneath Zonia saw sunlight.

The sudden heat created powerful air currents, hot and cold clashing violently. Even from afar, Erza sneezed, the abrupt temperature change catching her off guard.

She stared at the blazing inferno with a mix of awe and disbelief. "He turned a snowy mountain into a sea of fire. That… that's super magic. Kira's really grown."

Elsewhere, Natsu, Gray, and Happy were rushing back to the tavern when they saw the fiery spectacle ahead.

"What the hell is that?!" Gray exclaimed, already shedding his coat as the heat reached them.

Happy's tongue lolled out as he panted. "It's so hot! Natsu, this fire is hotter than yours!"

Natsu grinned, his fists clenched in excitement. "That flame… it's powerful. I've never seen anything like it!"

Gray scowled. "It's definitely not the demons' magic. Could it be Kira's?"

"Has to be," Happy said. "His magic can create anything!"

Natsu's grin widened. "If it's Kira, then the demon must be strong. Let's get back fast—I wanna see this!"

"You're an idiot," Gray muttered, though he couldn't help but pick up his pace.

Not far behind, Winter sprinted toward the same destination.

"Receiving those souls took longer than I thought, but with this power, maybe I can help defeat that demon. I owe it to my family to try."

Then, she spotted the sea of fire in the distance.

"What… what is that? Fire in the snow? Did Kira do that?"

Her pace quickened as she realized the flames engulfed her home.

Deeper in the Zonia Mountains, another figure was drawn by the battle.

An older man with short orange hair, clad in a rugged cloak and carrying a heavy backpack, paused mid-stride. "This magical power…"

The man was none other than Gildarts, Fairy Tail's strongest wizard.

He squinted toward the fiery horizon. "A fight like this in the middle of nowhere? The energy feels familiar… but it's not Natsu. Could it be someone else from the guild?"

Curiosity piqued, he adjusted his pack and altered his course toward the source of the disturbance.

In yet another corner of Zonia, a shadowed figure stirred.

With dark skin, long blue hair, and a black cloak, the figure emerged from a cave, his expression cold and unreadable.

The man sniffed the air, his voice flat and emotionless. "I smell something repulsive. Something that shouldn't exist."

He stepped forward, his cloak billowing behind him, heading straight for the fiery battlefield.

Back at the battlefield, Ace stood amidst the blazing inferno, his aura clashing with the oppressive heat.

"This heat… it's nothing compared to the cold of the abyss," Ace said, his voice calm but firm.

Kira smirked. "Then let's see how long you can last in my world of fire!"

Ace raised his hands, summoning an icy storm that clashed with Kira's flames. Steam erupted as the elements collided, obscuring the battlefield in a thick fog.

"Impressive," Ace admitted. "But fire alone won't defeat me."

"Who said I'm only using fire?" Kira retorted, his magic flaring again.

Ace's eyes narrowed. "Let's see who's stronger, human!"

The battle resumed, fire and ice painting the snowy mountains with their fierce conflict, their powers lighting up the battlefield for miles.
