The female supporting character, yet a charmer to everyone

Chapter 21 - Post-apocalyptic Literature 02

Their high school classmates organised a reunion, and they both received an invitation.

Sheng Lang didn’t notice, but Yu Huan stayed at home feeling bored. He said he wanted to go, but when he opened the invitation, he only saw the bottom part that said, ‘Let’s go together.’

The reunion was planned for the afternoon, but it was almost dark by the time they returned.

Yu Huan asked his mum for money and a mobile phone so he could go out, wearing a yellow halter-neck dress that made him look like a small butterfly.

She followed Sheng Lang as they walked, chatting excitedly about who she would see in a few minutes, her eyebrows fluttering with colour, and she was so full of life that she wanted to be held in the palm of one’s hand.

A reunion always makes people feel different things. Some people have changed a lot, some have changed a little, but coincidentally, it seems to be a little more worldly.

Sheng Lang clearly felt that many people wanted to get close to her.

But Yu Huan isn’t as interested as he is. He can’t see the wood for the trees and is busy peeling cassoulet prawns to eat.

Sheng Lang said three polite words to go back, but didn’t promise to go out, and lowered his eyes, turned the table, and tidied up some of Yu Huan’s dishes, in case she wanted to eat when she couldn’t.

It happened that Yu Huan had finished peeling a shrimp and put it into his bowl.

Sheng Lang froze, his voice clear: ‘For me, or do you want to use this bowl?’

‘For you, then.’ Yu Huan replied, ‘The prawns in this shop are quite tasty.’

The boy looked at the shrimp, with his usual blank expression and rare smile.

Although it was only for a moment, it was the perfect contrast to his usual cold and distant demeanour. It was as if ice and snow were melting into something wonderful, and it made the person look dumb for a while.

Then someone remembered something: ‘I remember when I was in high school, you two were good friends.’

‘Yes, Sheng Lang’s bag is full of snacks. No one else can get to them. Yu Huan said he was hungry, so snacks will be sent to Yu Huan’s locker.’

‘I also remember the morning exercises when Yu Huan always ran and didn’t get tired. Sheng Lang said nothing and pulled her to run, when a bunch of people looked on.’

‘When the head teacher saw you two together, he thought you were a couple and called your parents. But later we found out that you are brother and sister who grew up together.’

Their parents were looking for a reason to protect them.

They really weren’t brother and sister.

But there didn’t seem to be any need to explain.

As they ate their meal, some of the boys got together to play arm wrestling and other games. I don’t know who mentioned Sheng Lang’s name, so someone called out to him to go over.

Sheng Lang went over to deal with it.

Meanwhile, Yu Huan, who was alone, ate her own food, stood up and picked up a chopstick with some cherry meat on it. But before she could put it in her mouth, someone else was standing there.

The boy had silver-rimmed glasses and broken cap bangs. He looked a little weak and gentle, and his voice was thin.

“Yu Huan, I’m Lin Qi. I know you probably don’t know me, but I’m in the first class…’

‘Hello?’

Yu Huan returned, putting down the cherry meat in her hand, as a sign of politeness.

The people around them had already seen the wind and were excited.

Sheng Lang found a reason to leave the crowd, but then he looked up and saw that the seat where he was sitting was full of people.

A boy who had appeared out of nowhere was standing in front of Yu Huan, talking to her. Yu Huan was confused and stood up with him.

The people around him were all very excited.

‘Excuse me.’ Sheng Lang stood in front of Yu Huan and said, ‘It’s not appropriate.’

For some reason, the uproar grew louder.

The boy who had confessed his love for Yu Huan was very nervous and called out to him, ‘Brother’, as if he wanted to reason with him.

He really thought he was a brother.

Sheng Lang looked cold, pulled Yu Huan up and left.

It was almost the end of the show, so it wasn’t too sudden.

On the way back, the boys didn’t say anything, but the body was cold and the hand was holding Yu Huan’s wrist.

When they got to the bottom of the two villas, Yu Huan thought to say clearly, then took the initiative to ask him, ‘Are you angry?’

‘A little.’ Sheng Lang’s face showed he didn’t believe him.

Those cold, deep eyes of his fixed on Yu Huan and he said, ‘Why not go back and reject him?’

‘I haven’t said anything yet.’

Yu Huan hadn’t actually heard the word “confession” yet and wasn’t sure if she was overthinking it.

‘Good.’ Sheng Lang replied, “I don’t blame you.”

His fingers moved down from touching Yu Huan’s wrist to her palm.

The two of them had a very special relationship. Born at a young and naive age, they had the most intimate relationship in the world. As they grew older and learned more, they saw each other more as their own person.

This silent affection grew with the teenager as he grew up. This special relationship is unique and one of a kind.

But this kind of straightforward physical contact was new for both of them.

The boy had slender fingers with nice finger shapes.

Sheng Lang held Yu Huan’s hand and said quietly, ‘In the future, there might be a lot more of this kind of thing.’

‘Refuse them, okay.’

He lowered his eyes, which were glazed, cold and slightly translucent, and his long, straight eyelashes were blinking. ‘We’ll be together forever.’

Under the street lamp, Sheng Lang kissed her for the first time, a very light one.

Yu Huan licked her lips, wondering if he had just kissed her.

Only touched her lips, wow, so pure and clean, little boys are different.

There was no resistance, and it wasn’t annoying.

Sheng Lang looked at Yu Huan’s face.

The next day, Sheng Lang locked Mrs Sheng in the wardrobe and threatened to pass on the emerald bracelet to her future daughter-in-law, without saying a word. He put it on Yu Huan’s wrist.

Everyone was shocked.

Mother Jiang exclaimed, ‘Does your family know? This is too expensive! You two haven’t even done the engagement party yet!”

Jiang father was nervous, always thinking that if his daughter spoke up, Sheng Lang might take his property deeds.

Yu Huan looked at the bracelet and said, ‘It’s too heavy, I won’t be able to lift my arm.’

Sheng Lang only listened to this, thought for a moment, and put the heavy jade bracelet back. He called Mrs Sheng, who laughed and cried, saying a thousand things to defend herself. She said that it was difficult to prevent a family thief.

Sheng Lang came back, changed a gold bracelet to send.

The gold bracelet was very delicate, beautifully made, and very unusual. You couldn’t buy a bracelet like it on the market. If you shook it, the surface shone and sparkled. It had a gold bell at the bottom that made a ringing sound.

It was very beautiful, and it was lighter than the jade bracelet. He used his own money to buy it.

Yu Huan took off the original and put this on her wrist.

Study Room

Sheng Lang sat reading a book, trying to make it easier for her to understand.

Yu Huan rested his chin on his hands and fell asleep, his round, wooden-headed figure often down, then woke up and slowly raised his head, like a sleepy little wooden man.

Under the fluffy black hair of this little wooden person, a pair of sleepy, clumsy and cute eyes gathered. People can’t help but want to touch her.

The book was placed on the table.

Sheng Lang looked as natural as usual, just sat closer to Yu Huan, and then reached out to poke her.

Yu Huan lifted her face to look at him, her eyes seeming to drift off into a daydream.

‘Kiss me,’ he said.

He said this calmly.
