The Feared One

Chapter 35: Ambush

The war room was tense. The holographic display flickered, showing real-time satellite footage of global chaos unfolding. The Order had retaliated.

Bishop scanned multiple crisis reports, his fingers moving across the keyboard at lightning speed. "Jesus… It's happening everywhere at once." Jonas, still gripping his rifle, exhaled. "Define 'everywhere.'"

Bishop's voice was grave. "Explosions in Moscow. A cyberattack on Wall Street. Assassinations in Hong Kong. Coordinated riots in Paris. And that's just the first wave." Volkov stood near the window, watching the ocean churn beneath the ship. "They didn't just hit back… they flipped the whole damn table."

Kane remained silent, his gray eyes locked on the screen. He had expected retaliation. But not like this. This wasn't just a response. This was a declaration of war. And The Order had just made it global.

Bishop pulled up a decrypted intelligence file, his face pale. "This isn't just an attack. It's a coordinated takedown. They're targeting world markets, military infrastructures and supply chains." Jonas frowned. "They're burning everything?"

Bishop nodded. "If they can't control the world… they'll break it." Kane tapped ashes from his cigarette, his mind already racing. "How long until they hit us directly?" Bishop's fingers flew across the keys. "They already have. I intercepted a classified CIA transmission."

The screen flashed a red warning: [URGENT – TARGET SILAS KANE – HIGHEST PRIORITY THREAT]

Jonas let out a slow whistle. "They just made you the most wanted man on the planet." Volkov smirked. "Took them long enough." Kane inhaled, then exhaled smoke. "Then we need to hit them before they erase us."

Kane turned to Bishop. "We need an entry point. Where's their weakest link?" Bishop pulled up a satellite feed of Zurich, Switzerland. "Their financial headquarters. It's where they launder their dark money and store their contingency assets. If we hit them there, we cut off their war chest."

Jonas leaned in. "What's the security like?" Bishop sighed. "Bad. Military-grade countermeasures. Private mercenaries. A government-sanctioned kill squad. If we hit Zurich, it'll be like kicking a hornet's nest."

Kane smirked. "Then we bring the fire." He looked at Volkov. "Get the team ready. We move in six hours." Volkov nodded. "Time to make them bleed."

A black ops stealth jet cut through the clouds, flying low over Europe. Inside, Kane's elite strike team prepped their gear. Jonas checked his sniper rifle. Volkov sharpened his combat knife. Bishop monitored encrypted transmissions, tracking The Order's movements.

Bishop's voice came through the headset. "Satellite confirms enemy positions. They're expecting us." Kane smirked. "Good." He pulled back the slide on his pistol, chambering a round. "Let's remind them why they fear us."

The target building loomed ahead, a fortified skyscraper lined with armed guards and automated turrets. Kane's team moved in swiftly, using diversion tactics to breach the outer perimeter.

Volkov took point, silently eliminating two guards with a blade to the throat. Jonas provided sniper cover, dropping an enemy gunner before he could raise the alarm. They reached the main entrance and that's when the trap sprung.

The moment Kane stepped inside, the lights cut out. The next second, gunfire erupted from all sides. The Order had been waiting. Heavy-armed mercenaries poured in from hidden corridors. Sentry turrets activated, unleashing suppressive fire. Gas canisters dropped from the ceiling, filling the air with neurotoxin.

Jonas cursed. "It's a damn kill box!"

Kane rolled behind cover, ripping off his gas mask and tossing it to Bishop. "Bishop! Find us an exit!" Bishop hacked into the building's internal security, bypassing lockdown protocols. "Elevator shaft to your left! Move!" Kane fired precision shots, dropping three mercenaries as he ran toward the escape route.

Volkov covered their flank, slicing through a gunman's throat before yanking a grenade from his vest and hurling it into the enemy ranks. BOOM!

The explosion ripped through the hallway, buying them a few seconds. But the Order's forces were relentless. They weren't just there to stop Kane. They were there to eliminate him.

As Kane's team descended through the elevator shaft, Bishop shouted, "You're not gonna like this, boss." Kane glanced at him. "What now?" Bishop's screen flashed red.

[WORLD MARKETS COLLAPSING – GLOBAL FINANCIAL MELTDOWN]

Jonas muttered a curse. "Tell me that's not what I think it is." Bishop exhaled. "The Order just crashed the world economy. In real time." On the holographic screen: Wall Street's stock market had plummeted to record lows. Global banks were freezing assets. Oil prices skyrocketed overnight. Mass riots had already begun in major cities.

The Order wasn't just retaliating but they were rewriting the world's power structure. Volkov gritted his teeth. "They just turned every country against us." Kane didn't blink. "Then we finish this."

They hit the ground floor, emerging into the bank's underground parking garage. Their extraction vehicles were waiting but so was an entire kill squad. Black SUVs screeched to a halt, their doors flying open. Dozens of heavily armed mercenaries poured out, weapons aimed. Drones hovered above, tracking their movements.

Jonas raised his rifle. "We're boxed in." Bishop cursed. "No way out unless we punch through." Kane smirked, tossing a grenade toward the enemy's cover. "Then let's punch through." BOOM!

The explosion ripped through the parking garage, throwing bodies against concrete pillars. Volkov lunged forward, slashing through a mercenary's throat with his combat knife before taking his rifle and firing into the chaos. Jonas sniped two shooters, covering Bishop as he hacked into the garage's security system.

The garage doors slammed shut behind them, cutting off reinforcements. Bishop shouted. "I'm unlocking the emergency exit. GO!" Kane spun and fired twice, dropping two more enemies before grabbing the SUV keys from a dead body. "Get in!"

The SUV's tires screeched against the pavement as Kane gunned the accelerator. Behind them, the Order's forces were in pursuit. Armored vehicles sped after them. Drones tracked them from above. A helicopter opened fire and bullets ripped through the streets.

Jonas leaned out the window, firing at the helicopter's pilot. "Bishop, tell me you've got a plan!"

Bishop, still working with his laptop in the backseat, yelled, "I'm hacking the traffic grid and rerouting all lights and barriers! Just keep driving!" Kane swerved through incoming traffic, avoiding gunfire from the convoy behind them. Volkov loaded an RPG, aimed at the chopper. BOOM!

The rocket tore through the helicopter's fuselage, sending it spinning out of control before crashing into a nearby bridge. Jonas grinned. "That's one way to fly economy." But then Bishop's screen flashed red again. "Boss… incoming."

Kane gritted his teeth. "What now?" "CIA intercept team. They're waiting for us at the border." Kane exhaled smoke. "Then we don't go to the border."

Bishop hacked into a nearby train station's control grid. "I've got a way out. There's a private freight train leaving in two minutes. If we make it…" Kane nodded. "Then we're ghosts."

The SUV sped toward the station, smashing through a security gate. Gunfire erupted as enemy forces stormed the platforms but Kane's team was faster. Jonas covered their retreat, dropping enemies with precise headshots. Volkov laid suppressive fire, clearing the path forward. Bishop hacked into the train's door system, forcing it open.

They leaped onto the moving train with bullets tearing through the air behind them and then…They were gone. Kane sat against the wall, reloading his pistol, his face unreadable. Jonas collapsed onto a crate, catching his breath. "That was close."

Bishop checked his laptop, scanning encrypted messages. "The Order isn't stopping. They've declared a 'worldwide terror alert' under your name."

Volkov wiped the blood from his knife, smirking. "We just became the most wanted people on Earth." Kane exhaled. "Then let's make them regret it."

Bishop's screen flashed again—a new message.

[FROM: UNKNOWN][MESSAGE: YOU THINK THIS IS OVER? YOU HAVEN'T EVEN SEEN WHAT'S COMING.]

Jonas frowned. "What the hell does that mean?" Kane crushed his cigarette beneath his boot. "It means we need to strike first."Because this war just started."
