Chapter 28:
Chapter 28: The Heavenly Sovereign Fist:
The arrival of the Nine Li Empire heightened the tension in Nine Dragon Valley.
When the Supreme Empire made its entrance, the atmosphere grew even more oppressive. The Supreme Empire had recently gained an air of invincibility, harboring ambitions to unify the world.
They had stationed hundreds of thousands of troops along their borders, stirring unease across the land. Their every move was closely watched.
“Hahaha! Why is everyone looking at us like that? Have I become so handsome that it’s distracting?”
A young man in a python-patterned robe strutted forward, exuding arrogance and supreme confidence. His steps were bold and commanding, and his sharp eyes shone with extraordinary might—a clear sign of his strength.
Beside him walked a tall and graceful woman, her figure captivating. She wore a radiant phoenix-patterned robe and carried herself with an air of nobility and mystery.
This was Shangguan Huanling, one of Lu Ye’s adversaries from his past life.
However, she didn’t immediately seek out Lu Ye. Shangguan Huanling was a proud woman.
Unlike other women who often dwelled on matters of love, her rebirth had granted her a singular determination: to forge her own invincibility and ascend to the Heavenly Sovereign Realm, rather than rely on anyone for protection.
In this life, she resolved to have no connection with Lu Ye.
The youth in the python robe was Shangguan Wuchang, the third prince of the Supreme Empire.
Lu Ye, uninterested in their idle chatter, found a quiet spot to sit and meditate, preparing for the opening of the Ancient Battlefield of Prodigies.
Chu Ling stood guard beside him, and the disciples of the Dao Sect, momentarily stunned, followed his example and began meditating.
The Dao Sect’s actions drew a wave of ridicule.
“Training now, with the battlefield about to open? Didn’t they have enough time before? Last-minute efforts won’t help!”
“Instead of wasting time meditating, why not network with other prodigies? At least you’d learn who your opponents are and their strengths.”
“Exactly!”
Did anyone from the Dao Sect respond?
No.
The Dao Sect disciples remained calm and focused.
Shangguan Huanling eventually cast her gaze toward the Dao Sect and noticed Chu Ling standing vigil with her sword in hand and Yue Hongling seated close to Lu Ye.
Her brows furrowed.
What was going on?
Weren’t the eight of them supposed to hate Lu Ye to the core? What were these two doing?
“What’s wrong?” Shangguan Wuchang asked, noticing her expression.
“See that man?” She gestured toward Lu Ye.
“Those two women beside him are quite stunning,” Shangguan Wuchang remarked with admiration.
It was human nature to appreciate beauty.
“He’s not someone you can beat. Don’t provoke him,” Shangguan Huanling warned.
Only then did Shangguan Wuchang glance at Lu Ye.
He couldn’t discern Lu Ye’s cultivation level.
Interesting.
“Are you trying to provoke me?” he asked with a smirk.
Without waiting for her reply, he continued, “Very well, dear sister. You know me too well. I’m easily provoked. Once we enter the battlefield, he’ll be the first person I defeat!”
“Then you’ll die,” she said bluntly.
“Ha! Then I’ll die!”
Shangguan Huanling nodded with satisfaction. If that’s the case, so be it.
She couldn’t kill Shangguan Wuchang herself; doing so would taint her with the Supreme Imperial Seal, making her a perpetual target of the Supreme Empire’s wrath.
But Lu Ye feared no pursuit. Killing Shangguan Wuchang through Lu Ye was the perfect solution.
Meanwhile, Yang Wufa watched Lu Ye as well. The sight of Chu Ling guarding him with her demonic sword, alert to her surroundings, stirred an irrational anger within him.
Damn it. How could his woman show such reverence to another man?
If this was how she behaved openly, what might she be doing in secret?
Yang Wufa felt a metaphorical weight pressing on his head—a humiliation he couldn’t bear, yet one that inexplicably thrilled him.
To him, any woman he approached was already his. While most women maintained their distance, Yue Hongling and Chu Ling had dared to stay close to another man.
His shame turned into a searing rage.
Lu Ye had become a target on his kill list.
But there was no rush.
Yang Wufa’s face twisted into a smile as he approached Shangguan Huanling, while the scene around them grew chaotic.
Inspired by the Dao Sect, more cultivators began meditating.
Even those who had mocked the Dao Sect eventually joined in.
Who knew the Ancient Battlefield would take so long to open? Four days passed without any sign of activity.
On the fifth day…
BOOM!
A thunderous roar shook the heavens as a massive vortex of dark clouds formed in the sky, resembling the eye of a storm.
Through the vortex, glimpses of an expansive, otherworldly realm shimmered—a realm full of wonder and mystery.
It had begun.
Eyes snapped open all around.
Without hesitation, Lu Ye rose and darted toward the vortex, his figure decisive and unwavering.
Everyone else froze for a moment.
What the… That quick?
Recovering their wits, they scrambled to follow.
Yang Wufa, moving at an astonishing speed, shot forward like a streak of white light, determined to enter the battlefield before Lu Ye.
The competition had already begun.
Lu Ye, calm and composed, maintained a steady pace. Both he and Yang Wufa entered the battlefield simultaneously.
The world shifted as a slight sensation of weightlessness overtook them.
They descended from the sky, an overwhelming gravity pressing down, making flight almost impossible.
Lu Ye glanced at Yang Wufa, who returned his gaze, though their expressions differed.
Lu Ye’s calm eyes held a faint flicker of flame, while Yang Wufa’s burned with intense fury.
“Is your peculiar obsession acting up again?” Lu Ye asked casually.
Yang Wufa froze, his eyes widening in shock.
How did he know?
Lu Ye smirked. “Don’t worry. It won’t trouble you anymore.”
“Killing you will fix everything,” Yang Wufa snarled.
He formed hand seals, and the energy of Yin and Yang coalesced, transforming into a divine sword that slashed toward Lu Ye.
Lu Ye clenched his fist and swung.
BOOM!
The Yin-Yang energy scattered.
Yang Wufa’s eyes filled with shock as he quickly formed another seal. A massive Yin-Yang diagram appeared before him, growing larger with the wind.
“Divine Art: Yin-Yang Annihilation Beam!”
A terrifying beam of light began to condense, radiating overwhelming energy.
Lu Ye gazed up at the enormous Yin-Yang diagram, his expression unchanging.
He uttered three words: “Heavenly Sovereign Fist.”
With a single punch, he struck.
The Yin-Yang Annihilation Beam surged forward like a world-piercing laser.
Lu Ye’s fist collided with the beam.
The beam shattered into fine particles, utterly disintegrated.
The fist imprint, though not particularly large, carried an inexplicable profundity and unstoppable force.
It crushed everything in its path.
