The Eight Empresses Betrayed Me, Only to Deeply Regret It After Being Reborn

Chapter 24:

Chapter 24: Shattering the Core to Form the Nascent Soul:

Shattering the core to form the Nascent Soul!

Lu Ye sat calmly beside the ancient god’s corpse, his face serene as he began the process of breaking his core to form his Nascent Soul.

With the three treasures in hand, Lu Ye planned to condense his second life during the moment his Nascent Soul formed.

Nascent Souls also came with varying levels of quality. The weakest were Human Souls, followed by Earth Souls, Heaven Souls, and finally, Saint Souls.

In his previous life, thanks to the Nine Lives Undying Heavenly Scripture, Lu Ye had elevated his Heaven Core to a Saint Soul. This time, forming his Nascent Soul directly from a Saint Core meant that achieving a Saint Soul again was within reach.

Cracks began to appear on his brilliant golden core as he concentrated.

Lu Ye noticed the arrival of several individuals but paid them no attention.

He knew they wouldn’t harm him. In their previous life, these three had already vented their grievances against him. To attack him again would turn their conflict into an irreconcilable war.

Still, for a fleeting moment, Lu Ye wished they would try.

Yue Hongling let out a sigh of relief.

Thankfully, the Primordial Morning Mist hadn’t activated.

Suddenly, Lu Ye’s body trembled violently.

The shattering of his golden core unleashed unimaginable pain, as though his body, soul, and very essence were being torn apart. Wisps of white mist began to appear around him, and Lu Ye clenched his fists tightly.

Pain.

An excruciating, unbearable pain.

His thoughts grew muddled as his senses amplified to an extraordinary degree. Even the act of breathing felt like molten lava coursing through his throat.

“Ahhh!”

Yue Hongling screamed.

“The Primordial Morning Mist! It’s the Primordial Morning Mist! Master, it followed him here! What should we do? What do we do?!” Yue Hongling’s eyes filled with panic and desperation. No one understood the effects of the Primordial Morning Mist better than she did. It inflicted searing, relentless pain beyond endurance.

“Master, save him! You have to save Senior Brother!” Yue Hongling pleaded.

“Master!”

Chu Ling’s voice quivered with anguish. She could see Lu Ye’s veins bulging all over his body, and his constant trembling made it clear how severe the pain was.

She knew Lu Ye’s extraordinary tolerance for pain. For him to be in such agony, how horrific must the torment be?

Bai Qiulan’s heart ached as she prepared to step forward, but Lu Ye suddenly opened his bloodshot eyes.

“Get out!” he roared.

“Senior Brother, it’s the Primordial Morning Mist! You can’t endure it! Let Master freeze you temporarily with Lunar Energy!” Yue Hongling urged.

“Leave!” Lu Ye’s face twisted with pain, resembling that of a vengeful ghost as he screamed at them.

Yue Hongling opened her mouth to speak again, but a flash of cold light interrupted her.

Chu Ling, tears streaming down her face, held a demonic sword. Her expression, despite the sorrow, was icy and resolute.

“Young Master told us to leave. Let’s go!” she said, pointing the sword at the others. Chu Ling strictly adhered to Lu Ye’s orders.

“Go!” Lu Ye’s furious roar echoed again.

“Let’s retreat for now…” Sun Ruowei finally suggested. Though she didn’t understand what the Primordial Morning Mist was, Lu Ye’s state reminded her of a beast pushed to its limits.

Chu Ling suddenly unleashed a slash of sword energy, forcing Sun Ruowei to defend against it and destroy the attack.

“Leave! Get out!” Chu Ling commanded as she herded the group out of the tomb, holding her sword.

The group retreated from the depths of the burial ground, their hearts heavy.

Shortly after, a loud boom resounded from within as though fists were pounding violently against the earth.

Though there were no anguished screams or wails, the heavy, rhythmic crashes made it clear just how much pain Lu Ye was enduring.

“He won’t survive this, Master. Please save him! He can’t endure it!” Yue Hongling’s tears flowed uncontrollably.

The Primordial Morning Mist inflicted such torment that doing nothing was enough to break someone. But Lu Ye wasn’t just enduring the mist—he was also undergoing the perilous process of breaking his core to form his Nascent Soul.

How much pain must he be suffering?

“Master, I killed him. I killed Lu Ye again…” Yue Hongling’s voice cracked as she broke down. “I didn’t want to kill him. I don’t hate him anymore. He has nine lives, so why… why does this feel like the end?”

Her emotions spiraled into chaos. She couldn’t fathom how things had come to this, where Lu Ye’s life might end because of her.

Bai Qiulan gently waved her hand, causing Yue Hongling to lose consciousness. She caught Yue Hongling as she fell and held her close.

Listening to the pounding noises from within, Bai Qiulan’s face was marked with distress.

What kind of pain could make someone like Lu Ye suffer like this?

She knew all too well what true pain was like.

When her Chaotic Yin Poison flared up in the past, she had often considered self-destruction to escape the agony.

The pain had been unbearable, inhuman.

It wasn’t until Lu Ye helped her that she found relief.

As Lu Ye grew stronger, he had helped her more and more. And as her own strength increased, the Chaotic Yin Poison became increasingly difficult to handle. Only when she began cultivating the Lunar Yin Transformation Technique did she finally manage to suppress it.

I hope he’ll be okay. Please, let him be okay.

Time ticked by slowly.

Eventually, the crashing noises stopped. Bai Qiulan immediately rushed inside.

The depths of the burial ground were unrecognizable, utterly destroyed. Even the ancient god’s corpse had been shattered to pieces.

Lu Ye sat in calm repose, his breathing steady and powerful like a dragon’s.

“Lu Ye, are you okay?” Bai Qiulan asked urgently.

Lu Ye opened his eyes, exuding the aura of someone who had surpassed the Core Formation Realm. His Nascent Soul realm presence was extraordinary—thicker and more potent than ordinary Nascent Soul cultivators by at least five to ten times.

“I’m fine, Master. May I ask… what kind of poison did you give me?” Lu Ye asked with a faint, sincere smile.

‘Please, just tell me.’

‘I reincarnated to reach greater heights, not to suffer endlessly! Every time I break through, some terrifying poison appears. Even when I became a Celestial Emperor, I never encountered poisons capable of affecting someone at that level.’

‘Where are you all finding these things? If I can’t fight you, can I at least avoid you?’

Bai Qiulan’s face showed a hint of embarrassment.

“The poison I used is called the Lunar Marrow Worm. It can—”

Lu Ye raised his hand to stop her.

“How many people have poisoned me so far?”

“I… I’m not sure…” Bai Qiulan replied awkwardly.

‘Not sure? You don’t even know how many poisons you’ve used on me?’

Lunar Marrow Worm? Lu Ye had heard of it before. He’d even seen it once during his exploration of the deepest reaches of the Lunar Origin, where he gained insight into the Lunar Yin Transformation Technique.

‘I must be cursed!

Fine, fine. Each of you goes harder than the last.’

Seeing Bai Qiulan had now reached the Integration Realm and her Chaotic Yin Poison was beginning to manifest again, Lu Ye decided to quietly observe the pain she would endure.

Serves her right…
