The Earth After Rebirth

Chapter 465: The War In Asgard, III

Isla was getting a little bit careless and she knew it but she also knew that playing it safe wouldn't win them this war.

She was much closer than a long ranged fighter should have been but she had ironed out everything, she could fight at close quarters with her arrow.

Something everyone who'd followed her to the forefront had never seen before. She swerved side to side, moving faster than the harbingers could think gifting them with arrows embedded in various weak points in their bodies.

This left her comrades with better targets that could barely move to finish them off for good.

She wasn't just using her kaos filled arrows the quiver on her back kept refilling as soon as she took. A very clever invention by Hiro, all Isla and many other archers had to do to trigger this phenomenon was to fill their inventory storage with nothing but arrows.

While Isla was moving that didn't mean the harbingers she was running in-between didn't try to attack her.

She must've gotten a little predictable because a sword stopped her in her tracks, it moved dangerously close to her face, as it passed she could see herself reflected on it. Isla hadn't felt it but she was smiling, her hair was thinly all over her face, a little sweaty and stains dirtying her beautiful pale skin.

'This update is a little realistic to how we look like in real life isn't it?' She thought to herself as she attempted to hit the sword out of the harbinger's hand but alas, the creature was experienced, its grip was tight on its weapon.

Isla had an arrow in hand, there was no time to use her bow for an attack. She allowed her finger tips holding the arrow to channel some kaos into that arrow and she stabbed it on the back of its neck.

The harbinger looked very surprised but Isla didn't have time to give it the attention it must have wanted and left it for others to finish.

The forefront of the battlefield was as burnt and charred as the flanks and the rear they'd left behind. The explosions caused by kaos arrows were very dangerous and did their job very well, they were still a little far from the portal but they were getting very close.

Isla had specifically ordered LJ to not get too close, so she had little to worry about that was until she saw LJ trekking right behind her, fighting like her life depended on it.

"Hey, you're following way too close!"

"I'm still new at this, I can't speak and fight at the same time." She answered slowing down to draw her arrow once more.

"Get back, now!"

Isla could be careless but just her though, she didn't want to imagine what would happen if something happened to LJ. She didn't exactly want to be on Kiro's bad side. They still had no idea of the effects of dying.

"I can take care of myself!" She argued taking an enemy down.

The next thing that happened was unexpected which made LJ freeze where she stood. Isla was coming right for her, at amazing speeds and if this wasn't a game, LJ was sure she would've pissed herself.

The anger in her face made her seem vile and cold, not unlike the harbingers they were fighting but it complicated things because her beauty was still evident.

Reaching LJ, Isla reached out a hand beyond the girl standing so close to their noses could practically touched, she held the head of the harbinger that was coming to attack from behind and slammed it to the ground.

LJ sighed in relief that it wasn't her receiving all that wrath, "I thought you were coming for me for a second..."

"Look here, I can't babysit you while also fighting these monstrous creatures. I don't want to get in trouble with your big brother, so when I say stay back, I mean it!" She could feel her lungs threatening to collapse within her chest, she had to exert every bit of energy just to make it in time.

"My big brother?" It took a while for LJ to get who Isla was talking about, she would've argued under normal circumstances but she didn't want to piss her off more than she had already.

"I'm sorry..." Was the only thing that escaped her lips before she took a couple of steps backwards, she thought she could handle herself but her confidence took a nosedive when she realised that the harbingers she had killed were the ones already maimed by Isla.

This made Isla feel bad for scolding her, "look, you are a very fast learner so don't rush it alright? If you want to be as good as me you should be careful not to lose your progress."

The only players that could still farm experience and level up from killing harbingers were ones that hadn't reached level hundred and fifty, anything below that was lucky enough.

"It's alright, I understand!" She fell back even farther away and vowed to herself to try and not be a burden.

Isla nodded in appreciation for listening to her and without wasting more time she trudged forwards.

As time went on the players were getting visibly fatigued, the portal just kept on spitting out Harbingers, they felt like they were trapped in an endless infinite loop, people were starting to wonder where their supposed leader was.

Priests were doing their best to keep the fighters healed and strengthened but there was so much they could do. As fatigued as they were, nobody was willing to give in, failure here would mean very dire consequences.

They were still finding their feet when the ground started to shake, little tremors here and there that were growing by the second.

Everyone noticed that there were no more harbingers being transported into Asgard the portal was pulsating aggressively though which made many anxious but when seconds ticked by without anything happening their anxieties started coming down.

They looked around, every fallen was a harbinger the ground was darkened by their bodies some of their teammates were badly injured but priests were rushing to their aid. Glad for the little break they started fine tuning their weapons and armour.

It hadn't been five minutes and the portal vibrated and a loud bang was heard from all throughout Asgard, a figure jumped out of the portal. Some were still looking for it in the skies when it landed right in the middle of the battlefield.

"Now then, who will I kill first?"
