The Earth After Rebirth

Chapter 462: First Contact

They sensed them before they saw them, at a distance there was a thick atmosphere alerting them that what they had been waiting for, for months was finally here. It was dreadful, for a moment everybody stopped what they were doing and faced the oncoming danger.

At that moment, the space appeared to be cracked there was a loud bang and the cracks continued to grow and grow until something that resembled a portal stood in the air.

Asgard fell into a deafening silence once more, nobody wanted to break that silence as though doing so would cause the portal to be unstable and rupture, retch out hoards of harbingers.

LJ didn't quite understand the gravity of the situation, she only came along because Loki was nagging them and so when she moved and snapped a branch under her foot Isla gave her a really cold look.

"Shh!"

LJ wanted to ask what was the problem but with how serious Isla looked she didn't bother to say anything. She could obviously feel the tension but since she was still very new to this game she didn't think it was all that serious.

After several seconds of the portal appearing the colour of it started turning into a slightly dark hole and immediately after they saw a horn sticking out of it, of course many couldn't see the detail because of how far the portal was but every guardian could.

For a moment some thought the portal was slowly turning into a monster until a head showed itself and by the time they knew it the entire body had been spat out, the harbinger wasn't just tall it had intense big muscles too. Holding on axe, it looked a little disoriented like it had no idea why it was there.

Hiro came out of his shop running, he had an axe and a shield in hand. While Kiro had told him he didn't need to be in the front lines, they were three whole guardians down, he couldn't just sit around in his shop crafting. Besides, he had his students he'd been teaching for months to take his place.

"What are you doing? Where are you going?" Loki screamed behind him.

"Get back in there, I'll be right back and just because I'm not here doesn't mean you get to have it easy alright? I want thousands of potions by the time I come back, tell the others."

Loki had came a long way, he only chose this race because he initially wanted to get his brother off his back. He had no intentions whatsoever to stay on the sidelines while everybody was fighting.

Perhaps it was because he had a teacher like Hiro or maybe craftsmanship was that enticing but he fell in love completely with it that's why he didn't argue with Hiro and immediately followed his orders.

Hiro would no doubt leave him in charge since he was the best of the bunch. As weak as he was compared to a guardian, even he could feel the oncoming danger. There was no time for arguments, only for craftsmen to do what they did best. Potions, armour and weapons.

"I'll make you proud." Loki whispered under his breath and Hiro pretended he didn't hear him.

It only took Hiro a couple of seconds to reach the barracks where squads would have been staying if it weren't for the emerging they needed to tend to.

"Why are you guys still petrified? Onwards you go!" It felt strange, it didn't feel right, he wasn't someone who gave orders so it felt unnatural for him to do so.

But everyone seemed rooted in place, that included the trusted Guardians. He had no idea why, maybe they hadn't seen real battle before or the fact that whatever was coming from that portal reeked of putrid sinister energy.

At his voice though, the guardians managed to shake off the feeling and gave orders to their own squads. Everyone had hoped they were at least given a month before anything crossed over to Asgard.

But reality was much crueler, it only afforded them a couple of hours, three days at most. While that was not enough time to ensure teams worked well together, they had no choice but to go and learn everything on the battlefield.

"You learn by doing." Isla tried to console herself as every squad pushed forward.

The people on the front lines were their leaders, guardians, Isla knew that when they got close enough she would need to hang back but for now, she needed to show them strength.

Each and every second, each step they took forward another harbinger was spat out by the portal. Isla thought, as long as they came in like this they at least had a chance. A harbinger per second, that's something they could handle and manage instead of an army all at once.

They didn't feel the same at all, they felt much stronger than ones they had fought before this. Isla counted around twenty that were at the level of general but they were going to take one as a team.

"Are you guys ready for this?" She screamed beyond what her lungs can handle and her battlecry was met with complete and utter silence, that accompanied by their hooving feet made the moment much more awkward.

"I said, are you guys ready?" Isla screamed once more.

"Yes sir!" They all said in unison and when they realised what they had just called her their hearts were frozen in place.

Isla started laughing, "it's alright. Just like we practised, form into teams immediately don't stop just find your teammates."

It was hard doing what she was asking for but they managed to succeed before they arrived at what they would make the battlefield.

"Archers, remain at the back so you can give support to your teams!"

Isla was barking orders while they were running and her squad was doing exactly what she was asking of them, archers hung back while the tanks, damage dealers and priests went forward. Continue reading on empire

"Remember priests, you can't be too close or too far in battle, you'll need to constantly give them buffs and healing."

"Yes!"

Isla took a deep breath with a bow in hand, no arrows could be seen and she started pulling, kaos started enveloping the entire bow and the energy formed into a single arrow of nothing but Kaos energy.
